Death Reaches Level 30

Level 30 is the max level for your character to get. You will need to play on a New Game+ in order to gain this level. By the time you beat the game once and have done all quests, you will be around level 22. Continue on in the new game in order to reach 30.

Looks like there's character leveling, should make things a little more interesting.

I wonder if this is the max level... either way, character leveling should be interesting.

This is max level and can't be reached in one playthrough without excessive grinding.

Does grinding actually work? It looked like I wasn't getting any XP for killing things that were now perhaps too low a level compared to me, but when I enter areas I've never been the XP flows freely again. I don't want to have to keep finding fresh high-level enemies when I grind: I want the same guys I can beat easily, over and over and over...

@4 I think the only way to max level is to beat the game and do ng+. I don't think you can grind.

Grinding does work but there is a level limit of 22 for first playthrough and it is fairly easily reached while trying to obtain other achievements so I wouldn't trying grinding until second playthrough.

Doing quests and side-quests give you XP as well but as Varthon0 said there is a level cap of 22 on your first playthru. You will get the XP earned after you hit that cap when you start new game+ though...I started new game+ and leveled up to 23 plus some as soon as I spawned on Despair at the beginning of the game.

No grinding necessary. Hit 30 in Lostlight on NG+ just doing the main story playthrough a second time.

I think that games of this style and genre shouldn't have limitations pertaining to leveling and achievements that forces you to do a 2nd playthrough.

I've just finished playing DS2 on Apocalyptic thinking I could get everything in one playthrough, but now I have to replay the same story to reach max level? This means completing the Crucible, reaching max level and fighting Mr K are all tied to a second plathrough, seems redundant really. I say let people grind if they want to.

Who really wants to play through the same story having just finished it?

Just my opinion though. :)

Did not realise that the level was capped on your first play, that's such a pain in the ass

I don't think that LvL 30 is the highest, or at least it may be increased with later DLCs, as I have a Talisman that has no info but is graded as LvL40!

I have a talisman at Lvl 40 too. But as far as I know as well the max level is 30 and you have to do a new game + to reach it.

#10: "...completing the Crucible, reaching max level and fighting Mr K are all tied to a second plathrough."

No they're not. Only the levelling from 22 to 30 achievement requires continuing on to a new game. Although doing The Crucible on Apocalyptic difficulty is trickier than on Easy - but probably possible with good Health Steal Possessed Weapons (You fight Wicked K after that).

...#16, sorry, #10 is correct.
The Crucible finishes at L75 (Deposed King)
until your character reaches L25 (2nd play through).
Don't bother doing the Crucible till you're L25 at all.
Then use cloud/USB Flash to make a save back-up,
do Crucible on Easy diff.
NB: You do NOT have to do 1-100 in 1 life to meet
Wicked K - you CAN die - just don't leave the arena
and restart from L51 or L76, or whatever you got to.
