Complete The Crucible

Crucible Pass required. Found on the back of the game manual.

You will need to have redeemed your Crucible code to be able to play this. You must proceed in the game until you defeat the Guardian. Once you do, visit a tome. There you can start the quest. There will be waves of enemies you must fight. You must keep proceeding through the game to gain all waves in order to complete this quest. You might as well wait until you have completed the game and gotten to level 30 and have a lot of good gear for this (you can start a new game+). You may not complete all waves until you are at least level 25, meaning you have to do it on a new game anyways.

Waves 1-25: This is the first set. You must defeat the Guardian.
Waves 26-50: You must defeat the Wailing Host.
Waves 51-75: You must defeat Samael.
Waves 76-100: Level up to 25.

This might be the hardest Achievement in the whole game, unless its a cake walk on easy setting. Hope so...

Going to be a grind either way, 100 rounds!

Better stock up on those health potions.

Please don't tell me it is a 100 rounds straight?! I'm level 20 on apocalyptic and still having trouble with the first 25 waves

Yeah what #6 said, is it straight or do you take it 25 at a time?

To have access to the "Bravo Old Chap" achievement you need to do the 100 rounds in one sitting, which is a challenge even on easy.

Round 101 can only be unlocked in this way...

Have fun on apocalyptic!

For this achievement you can simply take them 25 at a time but as #8 said you must do all 100 at once to gain access to the Bravo Old Chap achievement. Because of this it is probably just best to reach the level 30 achievement first and then go for these two. And FYI, while it may seem like a grind and/or hard, it becomes much easier at 30. I just completed all 100 waves on normal in about 39 minutes simply using Teleport Slash with gauntles that had 43% wrath steal(aka full wrath from a single punch). Oh and best not to try this on Apocalyptic unless you are looking for the challenge.

If you are playing this on apocalyptic just beat the game first and then switch the difficulty to easy once your done and have the achievement for apocalyptic. Personally i don't feel like trying it on apocalyptic if i don't have to but that is just me.

I understand that Health Steal works well to keep one going. I got it just before the fight to get the last Dead Lord and the health potions I used might have been more reflex than need. Combined with enough Execute Chance to be able to hit B on almost everybody, it *sounds* doable...

I'm playing on Apocolyptic (i'm about level 17 right now) and I tried the Crucible and got my ass handed to me at about round 10. Finish campaign first, change difficulty, then tackle the crucible, got it!!

Just beat waves 1-101 on Apocalyptic in one sitting. Not too difficult at all with my playstyle. Here's my stats and what I used:

LVL30
4300HP
1070WR
450STR
700DFNS
355ARC
65% chance to crit defaualt
Crit damage +203%

All skill points in Harbinger, and only used my possessed scythe(+32%crit chance, 67STR, Health steal +30%, and wrath on crit).

#15 Every single piece of my gear had +STR, if I recall. Also, I turned in huge amounts of power stones for +STR in NG and NG+(and +crit damage secondarily).

Yeah, Apoc difficulty makes no difference. The starting enemy levels were at like 17. Took till about wave 70 for it to become a challenge. I suggest having a weapon that boosts your execution chance: it is a free kill, gives health and wraith back, and you can't be hurt while performing it.

I just did waves 1-50 at level 19 on normal (that's all it would let me do because of my main story progression). I used Achidna's Fangs as my secondary weapon and only had to use 2 health potions the entire time, the little ice lizards were the only ones to significantly drain my health. The fangs regenerate your health with every strike so I was gaining health every wave. Once I get the story up completing waves 1-100 shouldn't be that hard.

Apocalyptic. Health Steal and Wrath Steal kept me happy and healthy through Wave 69, just mowing everyone down. Then at 69 some guys just up and KILLED me. I then looked up techniques to use and apparently Resistance 40 is a touch low for the job. Next time, I use Aegis Guard as maxed out as I can get it so I have 13 seconds of added protection to see if I can beat them down. My Critical Chance is 101% so every hit is a critical. Not sure that's good enough but it sure help the Steal restore health and wrath quickly...

I'vw already gone through the game once on normal and started on apoc difficulty, can anyone confirm or give me any ideas as to whether i can complete apoc on new game + then reload my game and drop the difficulty for the crucible or will i have to start a fresh game all over again aFTER APOC NEW GAME + is finished,or can I drop the difficulty on my apoc playthrough just for the crucible then change it back and continue the game, realy would like to have an idea because ide rater do the crucible than a full playthrough on apoc but if both are possible i will

@SwiftBMF, i played my first playthrough on apocalyptic all you have to do once your done with the new game is just change the difficulty in the menus so my advice is beat the game on apocalyptic all the way since i think changing it before then will void the achievement and then just switch it to easy or normal for the crucible.

Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:46:48 PM

Agreed. Once you finish Apocalyptic there's no Game+ to do so reloading puts you back to where you last saved. At that point, drop down to Easy and try the Crucible again.

For me, the big dude who clobbered me during my second run at Wave 98 was replaced with someone far easier. If you have Health Steal and Wrath Steal at like 20% each and Critical Chance at 100% or higher, your hits should replace 800 or so units of Health and Wrath with each swing. That plus Aegis Guard fully maxed-out should get you through on Easy. Or, be tough and do it on Apocalyptic and see if the Achievement glows brighter that way. I got bored trying that...

I beat the game on apocalyptic and then gave it a shot on nightmare. I just beat the crucible on nightmare with little to no difficulty. I maxed out the crows and harvest and unstoppable. My aim is to get the reaper form and go buck while transformed.

@27 for the crucible achievement no but if you want the achievement for defeating wicked k yes it has to be in one shot. My advice beat the game on whatever difficulty your on now and then switch it to easy once your on new game plus. Shouldn't take you more than an hour to beat it.

Just finished this today. A few pointers:

If your game keeps crashing in the crucible empty your inventory (sell all.) This worked for me and I was able to go 1-100 (and Wicked K) in one shot.

You only need to go 1-100 if you want to fight Wicked K (another achievement.)

It was an afk cake walk at lvl 30 - granted I was perma-critting about 6-8K with my mains, and never used my secondary. I just used the dodge and forward attack move and popped zombies when there were more than 5 monsters out.

I beat this following my Apocalyptic play through. I played the new game+ on easy and was able to tear through the entire game including the crucible.

I stacked on crit % and damage, also health steal per crit (which at 94% crit I was always stealing health.) Ice is great if you need i

Just tried it for the first time today and did it on Apocalyptic. Got to wave 99 and then the frikin suffering spawned and killed me right as I killed it. Had the choice to fight Wicked K so I beat him tonight but now I have to go through the entire dam thing over again from the beginning. Didn't see many challenges until around wave 80 then it got difficult. All abilities used were maxed out: Reaping, Reaper Storm, Frenzy, and Exhume. Gear was: Possessed Double Scythes, Possessed Claws, Juggernaut Pauldrons, Abyssal Plate, Abyssal Gauntlets, and Abyssal Boots with Necromancer Talisman. Was happy I got to just before the end but am now pissed I have to start over again

I focused mostly on my Crit. Chance and Crit. Damage. Currently mine is 80% chance and 455% damage. This was pretty easy. The game froze for me on wave 57 though lol.. i just started it up at 50 or whatever and i still got the option for wicked k.. very happy i didnt have to start it over. Yea, anyone having trouble just focus on critical chance and damage.. defense n resistance.. use possessed weapons with health on critical and use teleport slash with the health steal. should be good. good times. :-)

I have a question. I just finished my first playthough and started my new game + on apocalyptic difficulty.

I was wondering, when I finish my apocalyptic playthrough will it save my character so I can then lower the difficulty and try the Crucible with my weapons and stats?

Because of the bad coding for these comments, and my crap phone, I can't see all words on the right of sentences, but - if you have a USB memory stick or Cloud save you can use that to experiment. With 2 Xbox Gold or Silver (free) accounts you can exploit those saves a duplicate weapons by gifting them back & forth.

On Normal the final L75 is a boss fight vs Argul (Deposed King) - I don't remember any boss-fight on 25 or 50. Argul was horrific - although you can button-bash to reach him it takes 15 minutes and you'll need all your health in case he ices you.
Armblades (PW/Fast) Health & Wrath Steal, Crit Damage & Chance. Jump up, hold @ release Y in air. Destroy lantern fire dudes in centre as they spawn!

NB: To unlock Wicked K you have to defeat 1-25;26-50;51-75;76-100
in 1 VISIT to the Crucible (don't leave) - you CAN die and restart (from L76 or whatever) just don't leave the Crucible.
It's a stupid rule, admittedly.
#8 is wrong, #9 is right.

*With Armblades:
Jump (A), hold Y then release
after tiny charge-up in mid-air - kills most waves.
Get in the centre to kill the fireball lantern dudes as they spawn.
Hold & release Y whilst targeting fires off a blade longshot
and has a shockwave for nearby enemies too.
Works well on Minotaurs and giant Pangolins.

'You'll Be Under My Wheels', by The Prodigy.
Put that in your HDD and play it on repeat, with full bass,
from 1-101 - never gets old.
Make sure you're L26 (after you've got the Death Grip/killed the Guardian,
be sure to have collected the 4 easy runestones and collect lots of gem stones to feed
to the dude. Then complete the 2nd Book of Dead chapter
and use the talisman in tomb 2 to get L26 Possessed Armblades with
Health Steal/Wrath Steal/Crit Chance/Crit Damage.
Make a USB save game back up, so you can play through till
here on Apocalyptic and switch down to Easy for the achievo.
Easy then

The entire time I played the game I thought the Crucible was included already with the Limited Edition version I bought. I got the tarot cards saying waves were unlocked through the whole game as I played. I just finished last night on Apocalypse difficulty and went to do the last 2 "offline" achievements I could (Crucible), and it told me I had to download that add-on when I try to travel to that area :( Very disappointed in that, the pop ups throughout the game were deceiving, making me think it was already included. I am on dialup and cannot go online to download it :(
