Introduction:
Halo 5: Guardians has finally arrived and is nothing short of epic. Set eight months after the events of Halo 4’s Spartan Ops, Master Chief and Blue Team have gone AWOL. Cue Spartan Locke and Fireteam Osiris, a group of ONI-led Spartan IVs. Their mission: Hunt down the Blue Team and bring them back home. The Campaign spans fifteen missions where players bounce back and forth throughout the narrative as Chief and Locke as they lead their respective teams. As far as the achievement list goes, it’s your standard Halo flair. There are a total of 65 achievements, most of which are tied to the Campaign and just a dozen or so for the Multiplayer. You’ll need to dedicate two Campaign playthroughs - Solo Legendary and Heroic Co-Op - the latter of which requires an online connection. Get ready to set aside 35-45 hours as you experience a thrilling Campaign and indulge in addictive Multiplayer action in order to see the game complete.

Campaign Playthrough (Solo Legendary):
The first playthrough of the Campaign should be done solo on the Legendary difficulty. If that seems too daunting right off the bat, you can always play through on Easy, Normal, or Heroic. Just know that starting on Legendary will save you an extra playthrough. During the first mission, you will most likely naturally unlock "Your Team is Your Weapon" for utilizing the new "command" feature. You will also earn fifteen story-related achievements for completing each mission, and then another four Campaign completion achievements once the credits begin to roll. Beyond all this, there are 21 mission specific achievements that can be earned during this playthrough as well; some of which are only obtainable on the Heroic or Legendary difficulty! These range from completing a mission under a certain time constraint to other various tasks such as using the new Spartan Abilities to kill enemies or completing a mission without the use of vehicles. Lastly, be sure to explore each mission carefully as there are two sets of collectibles to hunt down! Continue reading below for specifics on these collectibles.

Campaign Playthrough (Heroic Co-Op):
Please be aware that all of the achievements in this section of the roadmap require an online connection due to split-screen cooperative play being removed from the game. Once you’ve tackled the Campaign on your own, be ready to pair up with at least one other player and do it all over again. Fortunately, you’ll only have to play on Heroic during this playthrough in order to unlock "One for All" and "All for One". While storming through the Campaign with your partner, you can mop up mission specific achievements, but plan ahead for three more that can only be done in cooperative play. These are "On My Mark", "Maverick" and "Preying Mantis". As always, continue to explore each mission thoroughly for both sets of collectibles during this playthrough.

Collectibles:
The two collectibles sets within the game are broken down into skulls and intel items. There are a total of 13 skulls to be found and upon picking up the first, you will earn "Gravedigger". Then once you’ve collected them all, "Gravelord" will be yours. The second collectible set is a little more taxing seeing as there are 117 pieces of intel. Hunting them all down will unlock "Conspiracy Theory" and "Hunt the Truth". While the skulls themselves are always stowed away deep within hidden corridors and passageways, intel items will come a little more naturally as you venture through the missions. Keep your eyes peeled and always take your time exploring the entirety of a mission before advancing with the objective.

Multiplayer:
There a total of ten Multiplayer achievements split evenly for both online modes. On the Arena side of things, four of the achievements task you with winning five games of Strongholds, Breakout, Capture the Flag, and Slayer. "Valor Recognized" will require you to qualify for a competitive ranking, which can be done by simply completing ten Arena matches in one playlist. For Warzone, you'll have to complete three different matches and then win a single match on all three original maps – Escape From A.R.C., Raid on Apex 7 and March on Stormbreak. As you play Warzone, you will be rewarded with REQ Points. These can then be used to unlock REQ Packs that will award you with permanent or one-time-use Multiplayer items such as assassination animations, armor, power weapons, and more. "Bringing in the Big Guns" and "Go for the Gold" are both related to the game’s REQ System and can be earned with little effort on your part. Finally, "Top of the Food Chain" will see you getting the killing blow on a Legendary Boss during a Warzone match.

Miscellaneous:
Three of the six miscellaneous achievements on the list are not tied to the Campaign or Multiplayer at all. Instead, they involve managing your Spartan’s gear, emblem and service tag through the game’s "Spartan Hub". The remaining three achievements are tied to different game modes. For example, creating and saving a custom game type in Custom Games will yield "Gamemaster" and spectating a friend's game through your Roster will unlock "Benchwarmer". Take note you must have an online connection for the latter achievement. Finally, once you’ve collected all the skulls in the Campaign, replay any mission of your choosing on Heroic with three skulls activated and you’ll unlock "My Rules". Please note that skulls must be collected before they can be activated in the Campaign lobby!

Mop-Up:
You should be caught up on all the Campaign and Multiplayer achievements by now. If you’ve missed a few mission specific tasks or collectibles, simply use this time to mop them up. Luckily, none of the achievements in this game are missable due to Mission Select allowing you to quickly jump into any mission you’ve already completed. So if you didn’t grab something on your two playthroughs of the Campaign, you can return at any time you desire. And if you’re lacking on the Multiplayer achievement front, keep at it, Spartan!

Score Attack & Warzone Firefight DLC

Introduction:
Welcome back to Halo 5: Guardians! June's content update, Warzone Firefight and Score Attack, adds two brand new game modes to the fray, as evident by their very names. The former offers three new achievements for playing and winning on all the different Warzone maps as well as taking down a Mythic Boss. On the other hand, Score Attack boasts five achievements that will require players to achieve high scores in Campaign missions of their choosing. Depending on your skill level in both the Campaign and Multiplayer, as well as your luck with the Warzone map rotation, this update can be completed in as little as three hours.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Players can start with whichever mode they desire, but for ease of identification, let's begin with Warzone Firefight. In this mode, launched via the Multiplayer Main Menu, you will need to win five matches in order to unlock "Not Your First Rodeo." By completing a match on all six unique Warzone Firefight maps, you will also unlock "Tour of Duty." Last on the plate is "Dangerous Game," which can be earned by obtaining a Mythic Boss Takedown. You do not need to deal the killing blow to earn this takedown; rather, dealing a substantial amount of damage to the Boss will suffice.

In regards to Score Attack, which can be turned on in the Campaign pre-lobby, all five of the achievements - "Drop A Quarter," "Up For a Challenge," "Party Hearty," "The Hare," and "The Tortoise" - can be stacked in a co-op playthrough on Genesis. This is possible by completing the mission in under seventeen minutes, with at least one 2x skull activated and each player obtaining 200,000 points individually. Stacking all five achievements in one playthrough may seem intimidating, but it's a rather simple approach to knock these Campaign related achievements out quickly.

Conclusion:
As what's believed to be Halo 5: Guardians' final content update, Warzone Firefight and Score Attack are a breath of fresh air to the overall package. Revisiting the Campaign to knock out five quick, competitive achievements shouldn't last longer than a quarter of an hour, while trying out the new Warzone mode for its achievements will last you anywhere from two to three hours.

Conclusion:
Halo 5: Guardians is a return to form for the series. Its scale is epic and while its narrative is intensely engaging, some may find complaints with its pacing and dependency on the extended universe (books & comics). But between the lengthy Campaign experience, the competitive nature of both Arena and Warzone Multiplayer, there’s plenty of content to be had for all types of Halo fans. Through two Campaign playthroughs, a couple dedicated hours in Multiplayer, and some miscellaneous mop-up, Halo 5: Guardians can be completed in as little as 35 hours, all the while leaving you hungry for the series' next installment.

Your Team is Your Weapon10
Commanded your team of Spartans in Osiris.   (6)

As a new squad-based feature in the game, you can now issue commands to the rest of your fireteam by tapping up on the d-pad when targeting (aiming your crosshair) just about anything. If you target a weapon, Locke will command a fireteam member to pick it up; a vehicle, and they will get into the driver seat; a designated point on the map, and they will move their position; an enemy, and they will concentrate their fire on the target.

Simply issue a command once during the first mission of the game and this achievement will be yours. Take note that if you’re playing cooperatively, only the squad leader (Spartan Locke) can issue a command.

Your Style10
Changed your Spartan's gear in the Spartan Hub.   (5)

In the Main Menu, press to open up the Spartan Hub. Open the "Customization" tab and then select the "Spartan Appearance" option. Now you can change your armor set, helmet and visor color. After making at least one change to your Spartan's gear, press again to save your changes and the achievement will unlock.

Raise Your Banner10
Changed your Emblem in the Spartan Hub.   (5)

In the Main Menu, press to open up the Spartan Hub. For this achievement, open the "Customization" tab and then select the "Spartan ID" option. From here, you can alter numerous items such as your emblem, assassination, stance, gender and service tag. Change the emblem to any of the default designs provided, press again to save your changes, and the achievement will unlock right away.

Make Your Mark10
Changed your Service Tag in the Spartan Hub.   (6)

In the Main Menu, press to open up the Spartan Hub. Now open the "Customization" tab and then select the "Spartan ID" option. You’ll be free to mess around with changing your emblem, assassination, stance, gender and service tag. Select "Service Tag" and input whichever four characters suit your fancy. Now press to save your changes in order to unlock this achievement.

Gamemaster10
Created and saved a Custom Game.   (5)

In the Main Menu, open the Multiplayer tab and then select the "Custom Game" option. From there, select "Mode" and you’ll see a list of the many default game modes that are currently available to play within the game. Scroll over any game mode, tap to "Save As", and then go on to save the file as any name you want. Once the file has been saved, the achievement will unlock.

Benchwarmer10
Spectated a game.   (10)

In the Main Menu, press to open up your Roster, and then tap to bring up your friend’s list. In this menu, you’ll be able to see which of your friends are currently playing Halo 5: Guardians. Select the name of any friend who is playing and then then you can choose the option to spectate their game.

Take note, this only works if they are playing an online Multiplayer match! In the event that there is nobody on your friend’s list playing the game, or at least playing Multiplayer, you can always tab over once more to "Recent" and try spectating a game from a player on this "recent friends" list. Once the match begins to load, the achievement will unlock right away.

Cry Havoc10
Completed 3 matchmade games of Warzone.   (5)

Please refer below to "Warlord" for more information.

Bringing in the Big Guns10
Called in a REQ that costs 5 Energy or more.   (4)

During Warzone matches, you will earn Energy by killing enemies, capturing objectives, and killing AI bosses. On the bottom your HUD, you will notice a small green meter with numbers on either side; this is the Energy Level progress bar. Each time you reach a new Level, you will gain 1 Energy Point and Spartan Palmer will announce, "Level [X] REQs available".

Once Level 5 (or higher) REQs are available, you can call them in - provided you have, of course - by visiting REQ Stations around the Warzone map, or by opening the REQ Station manually during the respawn screen. You can easily tell the level of a Requisition by the large number on the face of its card in this menu. Once you choose any Level 5+ REQ, confirm your purchase and the achievement will unlock.

Go for the Gold10
Opened a Gold REQ Pack.   (7)

When in the Main Menu, tap and you will open up the Requisitions sub-menu. From here, you can purchase Requisitions (Store), open your packs (Open Packs), and view your collection (Collection). You'll also notice that Gold Packs cost 10,000 REQ Points, or $2.99 (USD) should you decide to use money.

Every player will begin the game with 7,500 REQ Points. From then on, both Arena and Warzone matches will usually net ~700+ REQ Points. So all in all, it won't be long until you have 10,000 Points. And when you do, simply purchase a Gold REQ Pack and the achievement will unlock.

Warlord20
Won a match on all three original Warzone maps.   (33)

In order to obtain this achievement, you will need to play Warzone - not Warzone Assault - and win a match on all three maps. The maps in this game mode are as follows:

  • Escape from A.R.C.
  • March on Stormbreak
  • Raid of Apex 7

In this new 12v12 Multiplayer mode, both teams will spawn on either side of the map in their respective home bases with the task of clearing out the Promethean or Covenant AI in order to lift the "lockdown" on the base. Once this has been completed, both teams will then compete for the capturing of three static territories on the map. Points can be earned by holding these territories (1 point every 3-5 seconds per base), killing players on the enemy team (1 point per kill), and killing AI bosses and their minions (represented by grey or yellow icons/markers on the map; points will vary).

Matches can be won in one of two ways. The simplest is by whichever team reaches 1000 points first. Matches can also be won by destroying the enemy team's power core inside their base. This can only be done once your team has all three static territories under their control at once. This will unlock the "doors" to the enemy's base, allowing you and your team access to the interior as a means of destroying their power core and ending the match prematurely. Generally, matches will last anywhere from 15-30 minutes, so be prepared to sink a decent amount of time as you work on winning a match on all three maps!

Castle Crasher20
Completed 5 matchmade games of Strongholds.   (9)

In Arena Multiplayer, Strongholds matches can be found within the rotation of the Team Arena playlist. In this game mode, the objective is to capture three static territories around the map and hold them to score points. You will earn 1 point every 2-3 seconds, but only when you have control of two or more territories at once. The first team to score 100 points total will win the game. Since each of the three territories is a non-moving base, expect tight CQC battles against the opposing team.

This achievement will unlock once you’ve completed five games of Stronghold, win or lose.

Off to the Races20
Completed 5 matchmade games of Breakout.  (7)

In Arena Multiplayer, Breakout matches can be found within the Team Arena playlist or through the dedicated Breakout playlist. In this game mode, two teams of four will begin the match with limited gear, no shields, and no lives on small, tight maps. The first team to eliminate all four players on the opposing side, or capture the neutral flag, will win the round. Each match is a best-of-nine, meaning whichever team wins five rounds first will win the overall match.

This achievement will unlock once you’ve completed five full games of Breakout, win or lose.

Flag Monger20
Completed 5 matchmade games of Capture the Flag.   (6)

Under Arena Multiplayer, Capture the Flag matches can be found within the rotation of the Team Arena playlist. In this game mode, the objective is to capture the opposing team’s flag and return it to your base for a point. Take note that your team cannot score the enemy flag unless your own flag is secured at the home base!

This achievement will unlock once you’ve completed five games of Capture the Flag, win or lose.

Spartan Decimation20
Completed 5 matchmade games of Slayer.   (3)

Under Arena Multiplayer, Team Slayer will have its own dedicated playlist, but will also appear in the rotation of the Team Arena playlist. In Slayer, the objective is to reach a pre-determined score (i.e. 50 kills) by killing the opponents on the enemy team. In this series classic game type, you’ll want to stay alert at all times and work with your teammates effectively to ensure the enemy never gets the advantage on you, be it through map control or weapon control.

This achievement will unlock once you’ve completed five games of Slayer, win or lose.

Conspiracy Theory10
Found and claimed one piece of Intel.    (6)

Please refer below to "Hunt the Truth" for more information on intel collectibles.

Top of the Food Chain30
Killed a Legendary Boss in Warzone.   (9)

This achievement can only be obtained in Warzone matches, not to be confused with Warzone Assault matches.

During each match, Legendary AI Bosses will appear from time to time; their spawning into the match is completely random. You'll know when a Legendary Boss has spawned into the battlefield as Spartan Palmer will call them out, and their location will be indicated by a bright yellow triangular marker on the map. In order to get this achievement, you'll need to get the killing blow on the Legendary Boss. This means that even if someone else has dealt most of the damage, you can come in and finish off the Boss, essentially "stealing" the achievement from the other players(s).

In short, whoever obtains the "Legendary Boss Kill" medal will earn the achievement. By nature, this is more luck-based than it is difficult, so just make sure to keep an eye and ear open for when Legendary Bosses appear, and be ready to use your precious REQ Points to call in some heavy firepower to deal with the target.

Hunt the Truth40
Found and claimed all Intel.    (11)

In total, there are 117 pieces of intel spread across each of the 15 missions within the Campaign. These intel items (research notes, audio logs, UNSC documents, etc.) can be usually found off the main path of your objective, though not as intricately hidden as the skull collectibles. Still, it will take a keen eye and some exploration in order to track them all down.

While playing as Fireteam Osiris, all four Spartans can utilize Artemis Tracking () to scan the battlefield within a 40m perimeter. If a collectible is nearby, the controller will vibrate slightly and you will hear a persistent pinging sound; the vibration and pinging intensifies the closer you are. On top of this, collectibles will generate a medium-sized "digital bubble" when the scanner is used, essentially acting as a means of spotting the intel with ease from a distance. Unfortunately, this ability is not available to Blue Team so deeper exploration during their three missions will be required.

If you’re keen on keeping track of your progress and are revisiting missions at a later time for collectible mop-up, you can refer to the collectible counter for each mission in the Campaign Lobby Menu. Additionally, collectibles can be tracked on-mission by opening the "Mission Intel" option in the Pause Menu. Once all 117 pieces of intel have been collected, this achievement will finally unlock.

Please refer below to "Gravelord" for a video playlist guide that covers both sets of collectibles (intel and skulls).

Fire Drill10
Finished Evacuation within 18:00 without dying on Heroic difficulty.    (19)

This achievement must be done on the Heroic difficulty level or higher. It can be done entirely solo, though it's recommended to try this with one or more Co-Op partners.

As soon as the mission begins, rush down the mountain and hop into a Mongoose or Warthog. Slam your foot on the acceleration and drive through the canyon pass all the way back to Meridian's space elevator facility. Don't bother stopping to engage the enemy at all during the entire drive back. Once you reach the outer gate of the facility, you'll be forced out of your vehicle and tasked with clearing out the outer grounds alongside the Miners in order to gain access to the space elevator. At this time, work quickly on eliminating the Crawlers and Soldiers with precision-based weapons, all while pushing forward and never sticking in one spot for too long.

Once you've made it onto the space elevator, clear out the initial wave of enemies as quickly as possible, start the elevator, then position yourself on the upper rings of the platform. You can use this height advantage to quickly dispose of the three waves of enemies that spawn into the elevator during the ride up. Soon after the third wave is eliminated, exit the elevator as you normally would and book it up the rubble and stairs to your destination. At this point, you should be around 10 minutes into the mission, so if you need to stop and pick off some enemies along the way to ensure a safe passage, then feel free to do just that.

Once you make it to the Pelican and the final cutscene begins to play, this achievement will unlock provided you made it there in under 18 minutes flat without any deaths. Keep in mind that you and your fireteam can go downed during the mission, but no one can actually die! If anyone dies, simply revert back to the last checkpoint.

Gravelord40
Found and claimed all Skulls.    (10)

In total, there are 13 skulls scattered across each of the 15 missions in the Campaign. The skulls are extremely well hidden and come in the appearance of a decrepit, silver human skull. Finding them will usually involve reaching obscure locations via clamber and crouch jumping and other advanced field tactics. Needless to say, it will take a good amount of exploration to locate these collectibles.

Remember, each mission in the Campaign Lobby Menu will display a collectible counter for all the collectibles you’ve already recovered, which includes both skulls and intel items. You can also keep track on-mission by accessing "Mission Intel" in the Pause Menu. Be sure to utilize THIS VIDEO PLAYLIST as your go-to guide for all the collectible locations in the game, be it intel items or skulls. Once all 13 skulls been collected over the course of your playthrough, this achievement will unlock.

Enemy of my Enemy10
Helped the Elite General charge the hill in Osiris on Heroic difficulty.    (32)

This achievement must be done on the Heroic difficulty level or higher.

Towards the end of this mission, you will emerge from a cave and into a small, open canyon where some Covenant forces are engaging the Promethean threat. You’ll know when you reach this canyon as Locke will comment, "Our destination is on the other side of this battlefield". At this time, hitch a right while exiting the cave and jump onto the raised ledge.

Off to the left on the ground below, you should notice an Elite General in golden armor fighting off a few Promethean Crawlers. Using whatever is at your disposal, eliminate the Prometheans in this entire canyon and do not let the Elite General die! If he does, make sure to revert your checkpoint. Also, make sure to keep your distance by staying on the raised ledge; if you get too close to the General, he will turn hostile and focus fire on you!

Once you reach the end of the canyon and finish off the last of the Promethean Soldiers guarding the facility's entrance, this achievement will unlock provided the Elite General has survived the skirmish.

I Thought I'd Lost You10
Escaped the Hunters in the lab and fought them in the hangar in Blue Team.   (6)

Midway through the mission, you’ll take an elevator down into a large laboratory and will be greeted by a vicious Hunter pair. Do not kill the Hunters! Instead, blitz your way past the enemies and proceed with your objective by activating and entering the hatch that leads to the sub-level below.

Continue on with the mission and you will eventually reach an open hanger bay that houses a large firefight. During the first wave of this fight, there will be two Hunters. These are not the same Hunters as before, but take them out to advance with the mission. Once they have been defeated, another Hunter pair will appear in the bay with reinforcements; this is the pair that you bypassed earlier in this mission! As soon as this second duo spawns into the firefight, the achievement will unlock.

On My Mark10
Simultaneously assassinated two Elites in Blue Team co-op.   (45)

This achievement must be done in Co-Op Campaign and thus requires an online connection.

After entering the medium-sized lab towards the beginning of the mission, hitch a left up a small ramp and assassinate the Grunt who’s working on a terminal of some sort. Now look directly above you to spot the open ventilation shaft. Both players will want to hop up and crawl inside the vent. A few paces in, one player will need to turn right into the adjacent duct and position themselves above the open hatch. There is an Elite right below! The second player should continue down the main shaft, where there is another open hatch overlooking an Elite.

Once both players are ready to drop down for the attack, communicate a countdown and then drop behind the Elite and assassinate your respective targets at the same time by holding the melee button. If timed correctly, the achievement will unlock right away. If it doesn’t, revert to your last checkpoint and try it again.

Going the Distance10
Completed Glassed without entering a vehicle.   (6)

This mission will prove to be a little tedious without using any vehicles given that the landscapes you must traverse are wide and large. Fortunately, such firepower isn’t that crucial since you can skip most of the firefights by running right through them and ignoring the enemies. Take note that this should be done on the Easy or Normal difficulty level though, as trying this on Heroic or Legendary is sure to get you killed too quickly.

The only necessary firefights in order to advance through the mission are the first skirmish outside of the space elevator facility in the beginning of the mission, a small encounter against Promethean Soldiers outside of the McCord Bridge, and then the massive firefight outside the gates of Meridian Station at the very end of the mission. If you keep a steady pace by bypassing most of the firefights and are playing on a lower difficulty level, this mission should only take about 12-13 minutes to complete on foot. And if you’ve managed to do just that, this achievement will unlock once you load into the next mission.

Shoot from the Hip10
Completed Glassed without any players using Smart-Link.   (8)

As mentioned in the solution for "Going the Distance", this requirement will be quite the burden since the landscapes you engage the enemy within are large and open outdoor areas. Thus, it will most likely be by reflex and/or habit that you use Smart-Link (Scopes) to kill enemies that are far away. You will need to be attentive that you do not scope in with any weapon during the entirety of the mission! If you're playing Co-Op, that goes for all the players!

Luckily, this achievement can be easily paired with "Going the Distance" for two reasons. The former is recommended to be done on a lower difficulty, thus enemies will be easier to kill with just about any weapon even when firing from the hip. Secondly, by skipping all of the unnecessary firefights throughout the mission, it reduces the forced nature of accidentally scoping in with a weapon to kill an enemy. The achievement will unlock at mission’s end provided you (or any players if playing Co-Op) did not scope in a single time with any weapons.

Waiting on You10
Killed an enemy that's had its armor repaired in Unconfirmed.   (4)

About midway through this mission, you will encounter two Promethean Knights on a landing platform near Blue Team’s Prowler. In this game, the Knights are a formidable enemy. They're well armored and have large reinforced "shoulder pads" that protect their center mass. They will however, like in Halo 4, still deploy Watchers during combat.

In order to get this achievement, you will first need to wait until a Knight deploys a Watcher. Once it has done just that, shoot at the glowing weak points on the Knight's shoulder gear to strip off the reinforced armor. This will result in the Watcher scurrying to repair the Knight’s defenses. Once that's done, kill the Watcher to prevent further repairs, then kill the Knight to unlock the achievement.

Maverick10
Teamed up in a vehicle to kill 30 enemies in Unconfirmed co-op.   (40)

This achievement must be done in Co-Op Campaign and thus requires an online connection.

Towards the end of this mission, you will find yourself deep inside the underground drilling facility of Meridian. Not too far into the facility, you'll encounter a few Prometheans on a group of catwalks and beyond that, a large, open loading bay that houses two Gungooses. Here, both you and your Co-Op partner will need to hop into one Gungoose and kill all the Promethean Crawlers and Soldiers that spawn into the loading bay. The driver of the vehicle can use the forward-mounted cannons to net some kills, while the passenger can use their firearms and grenades to score even more.

There are well over thirty enemies in this hectic firefight, so don't feel as though you'll come up short! Once you've killed a combined total of thirty enemies while riding in the same Gungoose, the achievement will unlock.

Savior10
Kept 6 miners alive at the elevator in Evacuation on Heroic difficulty.    (14)

This achievement must be done on the Heroic difficulty level or higher. It can be done entirely solo, though it's recommended to try this with one or more Co-Op partners.

About halfway into this mission, you will be be forced out of your vehicle and tasked with securing the grounds outside the space elevator facility. In this area, there are about 15+ miners under fire from dozens and dozens of Promethean Crawlers and Soldiers. Using whatever firearms that are at your current disposal, you'll need to work quickly - very quickly - in taking out the enemy forces.

The miners will be indicated with blue triangular icons above their persons as a means of keeping track of their positions. The squadron of miners are scattered all around the facility grounds, so push through with force, marking targets for your fireteam, and focusing on the Watchers and Crawlers before moving onto the Soldiers. Once the facility grounds have been cleared, count up how many miners survived the skirmish. If 6+ are still alive and well, pause your game and create a manual save! Allow the miners to enter the facility once its doors open, then move in behind them. If you move in first, the door will close behind you and lock out some of the miners!

Now that you're inside the space elevator facility, you'll need to protect them for one last firefight. After Sloan finishes his speech and the elevator's doors begin to open, stay at a distance and mark the Watchers roaming inside the elevator platform. Once the Miners begin to enter the platform and open fire on the enemies within, rush in behind them and eliminate the Prometheans on the left and right sides of the room. If you manage to clear out the platform with six or more miners still alive, the achievement will unlock. If you failed the task, reload your previously created checkpoint and try clearing out the elevator platform once more.

Take a Hike10
Traversed the canyon without a Phaeton in Reunion on Heroic difficulty.    (6)

This achievement must be done on the Heroic difficulty level or higher.

Towards the end of this mission, you will venture into a massive canyon a short time after defeating the Warden Eternal. Your "objective" will then comment that you must reach the other side of the canyon either by use of the abandoned Phaetons or through the footpaths.

Hitch a left and start trekking down the footpaths that lead deeper into the canyon. From here on out, you’ll want to continue traveling on foot, taking the man-cannons and defeating the Promethean threat along the way. It’s not too difficult of a task so long as you out-maneuver the Sentinel Beams - or stop to destroy them - and pick off the Prometheans before moving on. Once you reach the final platform of the canyon, this achievement will unlock.

No Witnesses10
Destroyed the Phantom at the Covenant camp in Reunion on Heroic difficulty.    (10)

This achievement must be done on the Heroic difficulty level or higher. It's also recommended to work on this when playing solo, as the Phantom has a tendency to retreat quickly when playing cooperatively with other players.

Shortly after your first encounter with the Covenant forces on Genesis, proceed to the hidden alcove off to the left where the "UNSC Marine Status Update" intel item can be found. In this small alcove, you'll also find a Rocket Launcher and Railgun; pick them both up! Now continue up the path towards your objective and you'll spot a Phantom hovering above the battlefield ahead. Fire only two rockets at the Phantom, then quickly switch to the Railgun and fire three fully charged shots at the aircraft as it begins to flee. This will destroy the Phantom and in turn, unlock the achievement. If it manages to flee the area, just revert your checkpoint and try again.

No Knock Raid10
Destroyed 10 walls or floors in Swords of Sanghelios.   (7)

Scattered across the landscapes of this mission are weakened canyon walls and floors that can be broken using your new Spartan abilities. There are a total of 10 battered walls and one weakened floor in this mission. You can break the walls by using a Spartan Charge and destroy the crumbled floor with a Ground Pound.

Generally, these breakable foundations tend to reveal hidden passageways that you can use as a means of flanking the enemy. The breakable walls are quite noticeable given their dilapidated, cracked, and "grayish" color compared to the sandy rocks that engulf them. Please refer to the video guide below for the locations of all the breakable walls/floors in the mission. Once ten have been destroyed, this achievement will unlock.

Preying Mantis10
Completed Swords of Sanghelios co-op with both Mantises on Heroic difficulty.    (36)

This achievement must be done in Co-Op Campaign and thus requires an online connection. The difficulty must also be set to Heroic or higher.

Towards the end of this mission, Fireteam Osiris will finally link up with a few members from the Swords of Sanghelios and be granted access to two UNSC Mantises. Once the mechs have been deployed, you and your Co-Op partner will need to hop inside the Mantises and pilot them towards the Arbiter’s location in the Elder's Council Chamber.

The Mantises have two modes of firing: the mounted machine gun on the right hand and the guided missile launcher on the left arm. Using your firepower, blast your past the Covenant enemies through the canyons and make sure to fall back if and when your shields are low. If either of the Mantises gets destroyed during this segment of the mission, revert your checkpoint. Once you have reached the Arbiter’s location with both players still piloting the Mantises, the achievement will unlock.

Kraken Lackin'10
Completed Enemy Lines without destroying a Kraken turret.   (5)

Please refer below to "Emergency Boarding Procedures" for more information.

Emergency Boarding Procedures10
Escaped the doomed Kraken by jumping onto a Phaeton piloted by a Spartan.   (8)

Since these achievements aren't tied to any difficulty, it's best to attempt them on a second playthrough of the mission on the Easy difficulty level.

Towards the end of the mission, you will emerge from a ruined cave and be greeted by the Covenant's deadly Kraken. You'll have to use one of the Forerunner Phaetons on the platform ahead to reach the mechanized unit. With that said, jump into the Forerunner aircraft, pilot your way towards the Covenant vessel, and land the Phaeton on the Kraken's deck. Make sure you don't destroy any turrets on the Kraken during your descent and arrival!

Proceed with the objective and once the vessel's core has been destroyed, scramble back up to the deck where you left the Phaeton. Using the "command" feature, tell one of your fireteam members to pilot the Phaeton. Once they're in the cockpit, simply jump on top of the aircraft and the achievement will unlock! Now you can take the Phaeton from them and continue on with the mission. After the Constructer has been recovered and your team has been picked up via the Arbiter's dropship, "Kraken Lackin'" will unlock provided none of the Kraken's turrets were destroyed.

Death from Above10
Killed a Grunt and smashed a grate with a Ground Pound in Battle of Sunaion.   (5)

After parting ways with the Arbiter in the beginning of the mission, head towards your next objective through two sets of doors and you'll find yourself in a large courtyard-like firefight. Stick to the left of this area and hug the building as you make your way forward. You will eventually reach the opening of this building and you'll see a couple of Grunts and a spiral staircase leading to the second floor. At the base of these stairs is a golden grate that can be destroyed with a fully-charged Ground Pound.

Climb the stairs, turn around, jump in the air, and launch a fully charged Ground Pound onto the grate below. The blast radius should be large enough to not only destroy the grate, but also kill one or two of the Grunts roaming around on this bottom floor, thus unlocking the achievement. If a visual representation of this task is needed, please refer below.

Worms Don't Surf10
Knocked two Hunters into the ocean during the Battle of Sunaion.   (20)

Given the pesky nature of this achievement, it's recommended to try this on the Easy difficulty level so that the Hunters cannot kill/down you in one shot.

By this point in the game, you should be familiar with Hunters in both their appearance and their general combative behavior. Towards the end of the mission, you will be required to make your way to the elevator platform in order to reach the Guardian of Sunaion. After passing through a series of several circular platforms and Covenant forces, you'll find yourself at the elevator platform with a duo of Hunters ready to fight.

At this time, you'll need to trick the Hunters (individually) into charging off the side of the platform. This can be done by standing right in front of the enemy so that the Hunter charges right at you. Lure one of the Hunters to edge, then right before he hits you, jump up and utilize your thrusters to shoot backwards to another platform. If timed correctly, the Hunter will have little time to stop the momentum of his attack and run right off the edge. Make sure to get a good feel of the distance between platforms so that you don't accidentally thruster yourself into the ocean!

Once the first Hunter has been dealt with, the second will become enraged, fire its weapons more aggressively, and not be so oblivious into being lured towards the platform's edge. Still, it can be done with enough persistence and luck. Just use the same method as before to get him near the edge, then when he's about to charge, dodge out of the way by use of your thrusters. If you're lucky once more, he'll fall off into the ocean and the achievement will unlock.

NOTE: If your AI kills one of the Hunters during this section, make sure to revert your checkpoint. Also, it's worth noting that you should probably command your fireteam to retreat to a different platform when attempting this achievement so that they don't accidentally kill the Hunters!

Tank Still Beats Everything10
Finished the 13th mission without losing the Scorpion on Legendary difficulty.    (14)

This achievement must be done on the Legendary difficulty level.

After receiving the Scorpion Tank from Exuberant Witness, your task is simple: take the mission extremely slow and move at snail's pace, only taking on enemies from afar as a means of ensuring the Tank's absolute safety. Luckily, this mission is pretty short. There are three "main" firefights you'll encounter. The first two are open valleys that are riddled with Ghosts, Wraiths, Forerunner Turrets, and dozens of Promethean Crawlers, Soldiers, and Knights. Remember to only take on enemies from a distance and make sure to mark targets for the rest of your fireteam!

Once the second valley has been cleared and you make your way across the light bridge, engage the Warden Eternal from a distance with the Scorpion Tank and he should be killed with relative ease. Once the Warden has been killed, the achievement will unlock provided the Scorpion is still operational! Keep in mind you can revert to your last checkpoint at any time if the Tank gets destroyed during the mission.

Rolling Thunder10
Operated four different vehicles at once in Mission 13 on Heroic difficulty.    (9)

This achievement must be done on the Heroic difficulty level or higher.

Shortly after landing on Genesis, Fireteam Osiris will link up with the installation's Monitor and take a short elevator ride down to an open canyon. At this time, the Monitor will spawn a Scorpion Tank. Hop into the tank and begin to move out. As you drive around the bend in the canyon, there will be two empty Ghosts on the left, and an enemy occupied Ghost and Ultra Ghost (bigger frame, lighter shade of purple/blue) on the right. Destroy the standard Ghost, then exit the Tank and try your best to hijack the Ultra Ghost! If you've managed to pull this off, you can then command your fireteam to take control of the Scorpion Tank and two empty Ghosts, thus unlocking the achievement.

Harbinger10
Completed The Breaking on Legendary difficulty without the entire fireteam dying.    (46)

This achievement must be done on the Legendary difficulty level. It can be done entirely solo, but through experience, it's quite easier with one or more cooperative players.

First thing's first, this solution will not cover intricate details in how to engage every single enemy in every single firefight during this mission. Such a guide would be convoluted, especially given that each player will tackle firefights differently. With that said, just keep two general tips in mind when working on this achievement:

  1. The AI is unreliable; try working on this in Co-Op play if you can't do it on your own, though take note that difficulty scales with each player added to the game
  2. If all four Spartans on the fireteam die at once, it will void the achievement

Finally, once you reach the boss fight against the Warden Eternals, follow the tactics in the the video guide below as a means of skipping the game's most difficult boss battle! Once you reach the light bridge that leads to your "objective," the achievement will unlock provided you followed the requirements through. It's worth mentioning one last time that you can die during this mission, you just need to make sure the entire fireteam does not die all at once.

Prison Break10
Simultaneously killed two Wardens in The Breaking on Heroic difficulty.    (54)

This achievement must be done on the Heroic difficulty level or higher. While it can be done in a solo playthrough of the mission, such a feat will require too reliance on the AI. Thus, it's easier to do in cooperative play with at least one other player. Both methods of play will be covered below however.

After defeating the last of the Soldier Snipers and Knight Commanders at the far end of the bridge towards the end of the mission, stock up on all of their weapons. Pick up both an Incineration Cannon and Binary Rifle. If you're playing cooperatively, your partner should do the same. If you're playing on your own, command your AI to pick up any spare Incineration Cannons. Now head into the chamber that houses the Warden Eternal boss battle and focus all of your fire on ONE WARDEN only. Kill him, try to leave the other two undamaged, then run around the perimeter of the chamber to trigger a checkpoint. If you get the checkpoint, create a manual save so you can keep that checkpoint just in case something goes wrong and you need to restart!

Take note that this chamber also houses supplemental Incineration Cannon ammo. On either side of the room, there is one cache with a Cannon, and on the far side of the room opposite the entrance, there are an additional two Cannons.

Now, at this point there will remain two more Wardens. This is what you'll want to keep in mind, whether you're in a solo or Co-Op playthrough:

  • Each time you "injure" a Warden, he will drop to one knee and let out a scream
  • The Warden can be injured up to four times; by the fifth time you "injure" him, he will die
  • You can either injure him by shooting Binary Rifle or Light Rifle shots at the head or Incineration Cannon shots to the body
  • After they are injured, there is a small window of immunity before they can take damage again
    • You need to wait until the Warden finishes yelling and the dark black hole in his center mass disappears
  • A Warden's final death animation lasts about 2-3 seconds
  • For this achievement, both Wardens must be in their death animation at the same time

With all of that in mind, you should then follow these steps to get this achievement done without much trouble:

  1. If playing Solo, mark one Warden so that your AI can use their Incineration Cannons to injure the target (AI have unlimited ammo); once the Warden has been injured 4 times, repeat this tactic on the second Warden (you can obviously shoot as well to help)
    • Once both Wardens are one "injury" away from death, mark one Warden and allow your AI teammates to shoot him; it should kill him and initiate the death animation
    • Now quickly turn your attention to the second Warden and fire off the final killing blow, and if timed correctly, both will be in their death animations
  2. If playing Cooperatively, ignore the AI and coordinate with your partner to get both Wardens down to their last "injure-state"
    • Once both Wardens are one "injury" away from death, communicate with your partner and then simultaneously attack each Warden with one last injury-inducing blow
    • If timed correctly, both Wardens will get caught in their death animations

All in all, once the remaining two Wardens are caught in their death animations simultaneously, the achievement will unlock! It may require a ton of checkpoint reverts, but with enough persistence, this can be done! It may seem extremely confusing when read through text, so if a visual representation of how this is done is required or even preferred, please refer to video guide below. Thanks for the video footage, Maka!

Icy Cool10
Used a Ground Pound on an exterior power core in Guardians on Heroic difficulty.    (10)

This achievement must be done on the Heroic difficulty level or higher.

Midway through this mission, you will emerge into an open valley and the objective will require you to destroy all five power cores throughout across the canyon in order to release the cryptum. These power cores can be tracked around the open valley using Artemis Tracking, though the first, Alpha Core, will be located dead ahead as you enter this valley with Exuberant Witness.

Before you can destroy the power core with a Ground Pound, you'll first want to eliminate all the enemies in the immediate area. Once it's clear, jump on top of one of the many pillars surrounding the power core. Now at this height, you can jump into the air, fully charge your Ground Pound, and aim the attack right at the glowing energy sphere inside the gyroscope frame. It may take two fully charged Ground Pounds to successfully destroy the core, but if you manage to pull it off, the achievement will unlock.

Double Stuff10
Simultaneously destroyed 2 cores in Guardians on Heroic difficulty.    (8)

This achievement must be done on the Heroic difficulty level or higher.

When attempting this achievement in a solo playthrough of the mission, you'll need to pick up the Rocket Launcher located just ahead of the Mantis near Alpha Core. With the weapon in hand, make your way through the valley and position yourself on the ledge that overlooks Delta Core. From here, you can turn around 180 degrees and see Epsilon Core in the far distance. Zooming in with your Rocket Launcher, fire a clear shot at Epsilon Core and then quickly turn around and fire a rocket down at Delta Core. If timed correctly, the achievement will unlock without fault.

If you're going for this achievement during a Co-Op playthrough, it'll be much easier to simply communicate with your partner as you both work on destroying two different cores with similar firepower (Ghosts, Ground Pounds, Fuel Rod Cannons, etc.). Either way, you can refer to the video guide below, provided by Pingy, for a visual representation of the solo method.

Lone Wolf100
Completed every Mission of the game by yourself on Legendary difficulty.     (27)

This achievement will unlock once all fifteen missions of the Campaign have been successfully completed on a Solo Legendary playthrough. As you can imagine, there are multiple methods in tackling each mission of the Campaign, but keep these general tips in mind when playing:

  • Utilize the Noob-Combo (Plasma Pistol + Precision-based Rifle) at all times when facing Covenant Elites
    • An overcharged Plasma Pistol shot will drain their shields, and a quick precision round to the head will finish them off
  • Utilize ground vehicles – Warthogs, Scorpions, and Ghosts – as frequently as possible
    • Their firepower on missions such as Glassed and Genesis will help clear out areas quickly and you can even drive past enemy encounters if the mission allows for it
  • Pick off enemies from afar with precision-based weapons (i.e. Battle Rifles, DMRs, etc.) as to avoid close quarter engagements
  • Save your power weapons (i.e. Rocket Launcher, Fuel Rod Cannon, etc.) for battles against Hunters and Promethean Knights
  • Get into the habit of issuing orders to your fireteam in combat
    • Command them to pick up power weapons as they will have infinite ammo
    • Command them to focus fire on certain enemies (Watchers and Snipers should always be taken out first)
  • Don’t neglect the basics of using cover
    • When your shields drop down, hide behind a wall or crouch behind an object before charging back out into battle
  • Try exploring the levels and finding alternate routes behind or around the enemies
    • This can help save time by skipping major firefights on missions

Overall, completing the entire Campaign on Legendary won’t be a walk in the park, but you’ll find that it’s entirely manageable once you get a feel for the new gameplay mechanics and explore the levels thoroughly for optimal cover and flanking positions. It's worth mentioning again that you need to get into the habit of issuing commands to your fireteam. The AI isn't all that smart on their own, but if their told to pick up powerful weapons or concentrate their fire on a certain enemy, they will surprise you from time to time with feats of victory.

Once all the 15 missions have been completed on the Legendary difficulty setting on your own, this achievement will be yours.

One for All10
Completed any co-op Mission on Heroic difficulty.   (23)

Please refer below to "All for One" for more information.

All for One40
Completed every co-op Mission on Heroic difficulty.      (172)

Halo 5: Guardians allows up to four players in Cooperative Campaign. There is no Campaign Matchmaking however, so players will need to invite each other to their games in order to commence the playthrough.

Campaign progress is tracked under two separate saves in the Main Menu: Solo and Co-Op. Whenever you are working on this achievement, you'll obviously want to choose "Co-Op Campaign" when you are hosting the lobby. This sub-menu also acts as a great way to keep track of your Co-Op Campaign progress if you are breaking this playthrough up into multiple sittings. What's more, there's a new feature that allows you to save Campaign checkpoints! So if someone in your party needs to leave for a bit, you can both save your latest checkpoint and resume the playthrough at a later time without having to redo a section of the mission. There is also the new drop-out feature, which means if someone leaves mid-mission, the game will not end!

When playing cooperatively, there are numerous ways to approach each mission. One such method, if you’re hasty, involves one player (or two if you’re playing with 3+ players) rushing forward and clearing out enemies while the rest of the team hangs back and acts as a “safety respawn.” A more logical strategy would be to work as a team and advance through each mission slowly and methodically, while communicating via chat. For other general Campaign tips, refer back to "Lone Wolf" for more information.

Once all 15 missions in the Co-Op Campaign have been completed, any and all players who were present during this playthrough will unlock the achievement.

My Rules20
Completed any Mission with 3+ Skulls active on Heroic difficulty.    (8)

Unlike Halo 4, skulls must be collected during the Campaign in order to unlock their use for future playthroughs. Thus, it’s best to wait on attempting this achievement until all 13 skulls have been collected.

When you’re ready, load up any Campaign mission – preferably something shorter such as Alliance – and make sure to turn on at least three skulls in the pre-mission lobby. Any three will do since this mission only lasts ~40 seconds. Now set the difficulty to Heroic, load up the mission, and play it through. Once it has been completed, the achievement will unlock.

Valor Recognized20
Qualified for a Competitive Skill Rating.   (10)

In Arena Multiplayer, each playlist (Team Arena, Slayer, Breakout, etc.) houses six tiers of competitive skill rating: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Onyx. In order to obtain this achievement, you only need to qualify for any of the competitive skill ratings in one of the many playlists available.

This can be done by simply picking a playlist you enjoy, and then going on to complete ten matches of that playlist. That's right, win or lose, all you need to do is complete ten matches of any one playlist and you'll qualify for a skill rating based on your performance. This, in turn, will unlock the achievement.

DLC: Score Attack
Price: Free Achievements: 5 Points: 125

Drop A Quarter10
Complete a mission in Score Attack with at least 10,000 points.   (3)

Please refer below to "The Tortoise" for more information.

Up For A Challenge20
Reach 50,000 points in Score Attack with a Skull multiplier of x2 or higher.   (3)

Please refer below to "The Tortoise" for more information.

Party Hearty25
Complete a mission in Score Attack co-op, with all participants scoring at least 200,000 points.   (69)

Please refer below to "The Tortoise" for more information.

The Hare20
Beat the par time of a mission in Score Attack.   (5)

Please refer below to "The Tortoise" for more information.

The Tortoise50
Complete a mission in Score Attack with at least 500,000 points.   (10)

To start, head into the Campaign lobby with your co-op partner and switch on "Score Attack" in the Campaign setup options. Now change the rest of the settings to the following:

  • Mission - Genesis
  • Difficulty - Heroic (2x)
  • Skulls - Catch (2x), Cowbell (1x), Famine (2x), Tilt (2x), Thunderstorm (1.5x)

Naturally, "Drop A Quarter" will be earned while working on this achievement, and "Up For A Challenge" is stacked here as well for having at least one of the 2x skull multipliers active.

When the mission begins, run down the side of the Guardian as you normally would, popping headshots on the Prometheans along the way. You will notice that each individual kill nets around 7k+ points right off the bat. Once you're on the ground and have access to vehicles, the mission itself not only becomes much easier, but earning an overall, combined score of 500k will not be issue at all. In fact, you will overshoot that score tremendously.

In order to unlock "Party Hearty" during this playthrough, both players must score at least 200k or higher. With the abundance of vehicular firepower at your disposal (Scorpion Tank, Ultra Ghosts, Wraiths, etc.), staying alive, earning multikills for big points, and storming through the mission quickly will be very easy. Through experience, the aforementioned setup should leave both players with a minimum of 1.5 million points each so long as they're are actively engaging the enemy.

In addition, you can unlock the "The Hare" during this playthrough for completing the mission under Par Time. Genesis' Par Time sits at 17 minutes, but with the vehicular transport and firepower provided throughout the mission, you should have no problem finishing in 11-12 minutes despite the difficulty level and amount of skulls active. There's no need to rush - the Par Time achievement will come naturally.

Once you have completed this mission in under 17 minutes, with a score of at least 500k where each player has obtained 200k separately, all five Score Attack achievements will unlock.

DLC: Warzone Firefight
Price: Free Achievements: 3 Points: 125

Not Your First Rodeo40
Successfully complete 5 Warzone Firefight matches.   (4)

Please refer below to "Tour of Duty" for more information.

Tour of Duty60
Complete a Warzone Firefight match on 6 unique maps.   (3)

In order to obtain this achievement, you will need to play Warzone Firefight and complete a match on all six available maps, win or lose. However, for "Not Your First Rodeo," you must obtain five wins total. The maps in this game mode are as follows:

  • Attack on Sanctum
  • Escape from A.R.C.
  • March on Stormbreak
  • Raid on Apex 7
  • Skirmish at Darkstar
  • Urban

In this new PvE Multiplayer mode, a team of eight Spartans will face off against five rounds of increasingly difficult objectives while facing off against Covenant and Promethean AI. Think of it similar to Halo 3: ODST's Firefight mode, except this time, you will have different objectives rather than just surviving against the enemy threat.

On average, completing an entire Warzone Firefight match can take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes so be prepared to sink a decent amount of time into this new mode, especially since map rotation is out of your control!

Note: The maps 'Temple' and 'Prospect' do not count for this achievement.

Dangerous Game25
Earn a Mythic Boss Takedown in a Warzone Firefight match.   (7)

During each match, Mythic AI Bosses will generally appear towards the end of the final round. These AI opponents are a slight variation to Warzone's Legendary Bosses in that they have minor aesthetic upgrades and a significant boost in health gained and damage dealt.

You'll know when a Mythic Boss has spawned into the battlefield as Spartan Palmer will call them out and their location will be indicated by a large red triangular marker on the HUD.

For this achievement, you do not necessarily have to land the killing blow on the enemy; rather, so long as you deal a significant amount of damage to the Mythic Boss in the last quarter of their health, the achievement should unlock without fault. As with the base game's Legendary Boss achievement, this can be a pesky task to complete since you'll be playing with seven other players. So long as you save your REQ points for access to power weapons and vehicles once the Mythic Boss appears, as well as communicate with your team as to who needs the achievement, this shouldn't be too hard to earn.
