Introduction:
After twenty-eight years drifting in space, the crew of the Spirit of Fire have been awoken to a new threat in the galaxy: The Banished, a Covenant faction led by a war-torn Brute known as Atriox. The long awaited Halo Wars 2 explores a narrative of survival against impossible odds, which happens through real-time, strategic gameplay. Throughout the twelve Campaign missions, you will be tasked with building your bases, creating your armies, and using various strategies to bring fall to your foes. Beyond the Campaign, there is also a Multiplayer component consisting of online match-made games, Skirmishes against the AI, and the fast-paced, card-based Blitz Mode. There are a total of fifty-seven achievements in the game, forty-four of which can be done offline and thirteen that will require you to mingle in the online Multiplayer modes. Moreover, there are no missable achievements to worry about since Mission Select is available from the Main Menu for the Campaign. All in all, to snag the completion you'll need to be ready to set aside sixty or more hours.

Campaign Playthrough #1 (Easy or Normal Difficulty):
The first playthrough of the Campaign should be tackled on either Easy or Normal so that you can familiarize yourself with the general gameplay mechanics and the mission objectives themselves. As you work through the Campaign, you will unlock an achievement for completing each of the twelve missions and then "This war is over" for completing the Campaign altogether. During this playthrough, you should also focus on completing Bonus Objectives in order to earn "A little bit extra" and "A lot extra." In addition to this, it may be wise to work on collecting all the Skulls, too. Skulls are earned for completing Primary, Optional, and Bonus Objectives; collecting your first will unlock "Alas, poor Yorick," collecting half will unlock "Morbid curiosities," and collecting all fifteen will unlock "Collecting a dream." Lastly, you should notice that after every mission, you are awarded a medal (Bronze, Silver, or Gold) based on your performance in that particular mission. There are two achievements related to earning a gold medal on all twelve missions: "Gold rush" and "Palmer's Pure Gold." These achievements are significantly easier to obtain while playing on Easy with the Nightmare Skull activated, so once you unlock that Skull, feel free to replay missions at any point to knock out these gold medal achievements.

Campaign Playthrough #2 (Legendary Difficulty):
Now that you've experienced the Campaign and have knocked out some of the more basic Campaign-related achievements, you should begin your next playthrough on the Legendary difficulty setting. While some missions (particularly Missions 8 and 11) will prove to be difficult, playing on Legendary shouldn't be too much of a problem if you use tactics that worked well on Easy/Normal. What's more, you can even activate some of the player-strengthening Skulls to help make things considerably easier. Once you've completed all twelve Campaign missions on Legendary, "The hard fight" and "Surviving the long war" will unlock. If you missed a few Bonus Objectives or Skulls on your first playthrough, try to work on them here.

Co-Op Tasks:
Fortunately, there are only three Co-Op achievements in the game: "Two heads are better than one," "Comrades in arms," and "Two heads are better than none." The first of these will require you to complete any Campaign mission cooperatively; the second of these achievements asks that you earn a gold medal on a Campaign mission while playing on Legendary with a Co-Op partner; the third achievement tasks you and a friend with beating the AI (2 or more) in a Skirmish match on any difficulty.

Multiplayer:
A bulk of the remaining achievements are related to the three Multiplayer modes: online matchmaking, Skirmishes, and Blitz. Let's start with matchmaking. Right off the bat, completing your first online match will unlock "First steps," completing a match as all six Leaders will unlock "The Scrappy Six," and killing a developer or someone who has killed a developer will unlock "The hand that feeds."

Next, there are two achievements specific to Skirmish matches. First, playing a solo match against the AI will unlock "Natural intelligence." Second, beating the AI on Legendary after recycling your base at the start of the match will unlock "You've got a case of the Birley." There are also four achievements that can be unlocked in either match-made games or Skirmish matches. These achievements are: "The rank and file," "The tribe," "Spare Change," and "Big Spender."

Moving on, there are a number of achievements related to Blitz Mode, such as "Duellist" for winning your first Blitz match, "Card shark" for completing 25 Blitz matches, "All or nothing" for playing all twelve cards in your deck in a single game, and "Full house" for completing a Blitz match as each of the six Leaders. There are also achievements for gathering 150 Energy Crates in Blitz matches and playing 777 cards in Blitz matches. As far as Blitz Firefight goes, there are achievements for beating Wave 10 and Wave 25, scoring 500,000 points, and achieving the highest possibly kill streak.

Last but not least are the achievements that span all three Multiplayer modes: "Trash compactor," "Flyswatter," "Meat grinder," "Space Healer," and "Overkill." These achievements are earned for destroying 100 vehicles with anti-vehicle Units, destroying 100 air Units with anti-air Units, killing 100 infantry with anti-infantry Units, casting 100 Healing Leader Powers, and destroying 500 Units with Leader Powers.

Daily & Weekly Challenges / Mop-Up:
At this point, all that should remain are the four Daily/Weekly Challenge achievements. "Making the most of the day" is earned for completing three Daily Challenges in a single day and "A strong showing for the week" is earned for completing all three Weekly Challenges in a single week. As for "Short-term commitment" and "Long-term commitment," these are earned for completing one Daily Challenge for each day of a week and completing one Weekly Challenge for each week of a month. Lastly, you may have already knocked out the Tutorials before even starting the Campaign, but if you have not, make sure to complete the Basic Tutorial, Advanced Tutorial, and Blitz Tutorial for three additional achievements. If there are any achievements you may have missed by this point, such as Campaign Bonus Objectives, gold medals, or Skulls, go ahead and jump back into the Campaign as needed.

These collectibles offer insightful backstory to several key characters and events related to the game's narrative. There are a total of twenty-four Phoenix Logs to collect. Finding your first Log will unlock "Some light reading;" finding twelve of the logs yields "Just the facts;" finding all twenty-four logs will unlock "The full story." Fortunately, these achievements shouldn't take any longer than two hours to get done, especially if you choose to work on them against the AI in solo Skirmish matches.

Arbiter Leader Pack DLC

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As a new leader for the online multiplayer portion of the game, The Arbiter joins the fray with an array of new abilities and units. Fortunately, these achievements shouldn't take any longer than two hours to get done, especially if you choose to work on them against the AI in solo Skirmish matches.

Serina Leader Pack DLC

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As a new leader for the online multiplayer portion of the game, Serina brings with her the power of piercing cold...firepower. Much like the previous leaders, Serina comes with three new achievements, all of which are achievable in Multiplayer, Skirmish, or Blitz. First, there's "Nothing too difficult, then?," which is earned for winning three matches as Serina; second, there's "Freeze!," which is earned for freezing fifty squads with cryo abilities; lastly, there's "Insult upon injury," which is earned for shattering twenty squads once they have been frozen. Fortunately, these achievements shouldn't take any longer than two hours to get done, especially if you choose to work on them against the AI in solo Skirmish matches.

Operation: Spearbreaker DLC

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Halo Wars 2's first mini-story add-on sees a squad of ODSTs on a mission to thwart the Banished's plot to regain access to Forerunner technology. Operation: Spearbreaker consists of two missions that can be accessed via the Campaign Menu. There are a total of five achievements for this add-on, three of which task you with completing the two missions on Normal, Heroic, and Legendary. As always, these three achievements can be stacked by completing the missions on Legendary just once.

The remaining two achievements are much more complex, however; "Vidmaster Challenge: 100 drops" requires you to obtain a gold medal on "Gatecrashers" and also complete every Bonus and Optional objective (refer to the guide below for clarity on these requirements), while "Vidmaster Challenge: No fly zone" requires you to meet similar expectations on the second mission, "Not On My Watch."

Overall, these two Vidmaster achievements are tricky and can pose to be a burden. That being said, the guide below outlines the best strategies that can be emulated so long as you have the patience to sit down with each mission for 40-50 minutes.

Yapyap Leader DLC

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As a new leader for the online multiplayer portion of the game, Yapyap is ready to unleash a miasma of methane madness on the battlefield. Much like the previous leaders, Yapyap comes with three new achievements, all of which are achievable in Multiplayer, Skirmish, or Blitz. First, there's "You met me on Reach!" which is earned for winning three matches as Yapyap; second, there's "Piggyback!" which is earned for activating the Grunt Goblin ability ten times; lastly, there's "That sweet smell of home," which is earned for firing fifteen methane shells from the Methane Wagon. Fortunately, these achievements shouldn't take any longer than one hour to get done, especially if you choose to work on them against the AI in solo Skirmish matches.

Awakening the Nightmare DLC

Introduction:
Awakening the Nightmare, Halo Wars 2's latest add-on, brings a host of new modes to the already expansive RTS, including a brand new Banished Campaign that explores their fight against The Flood, two new multiplayer leaders, and a Tower Defense style firefight mode dubbed "Terminus Firefight." This expansion also comes with thirty-seven achievements, six of which are related to the multiplayer leaders, sixteen that are tied to the Campaign, and the remaining fifteen of which require multiple playthroughs of Terminus Firefight, either alone or with additional Co-Op partners.

Multiplayer:
First on the list are the relatively simple multiplayer-related achievements. "Spreading Darkness" and "Unbreakable" will require you to win three matches as Various and Pavium, respectively. In addition to this, each of the leaders also has two multiplayer-specific achievements tied to their unique abilities/units. Please refer to the guide below for additional information on the requirements for these. Overall, all six of the multiplayer achievements can be knocked out in Solo Skirmishes against the AI in just under an hour or so.

Campaign Playthrough #1 (Easy or Normal Difficulty):
The first playthrough of the Campaign should be tackled on either Easy or Normal so that you can familiarize yourself with each mission's design and the mission objectives themselves. As you work through the Campaign, you will unlock an achievement for completing each of the five missions. You will also unlock "Awake" for completing the Campaign altogether. During this playthrough, you should also focus on finding all of the Phoenix Logs in each mission in order to unlock "The Brute Side." Lastly, during the first three missions, you should focus on completing all objectives (Optional and Bonus) and shooting for a gold medal within the same playthrough for "Smash!," "Hold the Line(s)," and "Hidden Power." These achievements are extremely easy while playing on Easy with the Nightmare Skull activated, so make sure to manually activate this skull in the Campaign lobby menu before starting your playthrough.

Campaign Playthrough #2 (Legendary Difficulty):
After completing the Campaign on one of the lower difficulties, it's time to start a Legendary playthrough. Playing on this difficulty shouldn't be too much of a problem if you use the same tactics that worked well on Easy/Normal. In fact, it's highly encouraged to activate some of the player-strengthening Skulls to help make combat considerably easier. Once you've completed all five Campaign missions on Legendary, "Again with the Tentacles" and "The Ancient Enemy" will unlock. There's also "Banished Prowess," which unlocks after completing a single mission on Legendary under Par Time with one scoring skull active. If you missed a few Optional/Bonus Objectives or Phoenix Logs on your first playthrough, try to mop them up at this time.

Terminus Firefight:
Once you are ready to jump into the hectic, yet entirely enjoyable horde mode, go ahead and load up Firefight from the Main Menu. There are a total of fifteen achievements related to this mode. Take note that "Watch My Six" will require you to play with at least one other player; the remaining fourteen achievements can technically be done completely solo and are quite simple if playing on Easy. A few of these feats include building fifty Turrets and Barricades in a single game, scoring five million points and destroying twenty bonus drops in a single match, and completing wave 30. Lastly, pay close attention to two of the more difficult achievements: "Pristine," which tasks you with completing waves 1-15 without allowing the Terminus to take any damage, and "Survivor," which requires you to complete waves 1-5 without training/deploying any additional units. All in all, it should take no more than 2-3 matches of Terminus Firefight to snag all fifteen firefight achievements.

Conclusion:
Awakening the Nightmare is a fantastic add-on to Halo Wars 2. With plenty of content of enjoy, one can easily get lost for hours in the new Terminus Firefight mode in between online matches and the new Banished Campaign. The achievements in this expansion aren't too difficult, though there are a few related to the Campaign that will require patience and strategic planning. In around fifteen or twenty hours, all thirty-seven achievements could be yours.

Overall Conclusion:
Halo Wars 2 is not a difficult completion by any means, but it will test your commitment given the milestone-stone based Multiplayer achievements and Daily/Weekly Challenge achievements that task you with coming back to the game each day and every week. Narratively, the Campaign ends in a rather abrupt fashion, begging the question as to what will become of the Spirit of Fire and the Banished. Beyond this wonder and disappointment, though, is a game that ultimately plays extremely well, offers hours upon hours of content, and boasts a creative and diverse achievement list for the truest of Halo fans.

This war is over30
Complete the Campaign    (1)

Refer below to "Surviving the long war" for more information.

It just keeps going30
Beat wave 25 in Blitz Firefight   (5)

This achievement is best done with at least one Co-Op partner, but it can definitely be done solo if additional player assistance is not available. This solution will assume that there are two players in the match; should you be playing alone, however, follow the same methodology below and make sure you are playing with Atriox as your Leader.

First thing is first: one player will be playing with Atriox and the other with Captain Cutter. A heavy-hitting, vehicle-based deck for either leader is key for this method. Decks can be modified under the "Decks" tab in the Blitz menu. Please refer below for recommended deck builds before moving onto the actual strategy involved.

Atriox

  • Hunters
  • Locust
  • Assault Elites
  • Engineer
  • Reaver
  • Ironclad Hunters
  • Marauder
  • Prowling Reaver
  • Wraith
  • Blisterback
  • Ironclad Wraith
  • Scarab Assault

Captain Cutter

  • Cyclops
  • Wolverine
  • Nightingale
  • Warthog
  • Hornet
  • Veteran Cyclops
  • Archer Missiles
  • Kodiak
  • Scorpion
  • Trooper Hornet
  • Vulture
  • Close Air Support

With these two decks readied, start the match. Once player control is gained, one player should move to Zone B and the other to Zone C. The strategy that follows is quite simple provided you draw the appropriate cards to pull it off. Remember: you can recycle cards for 5 Energy at any time.

  1. Place Kodiak and Blisterback Units on the ridge between Zone B and Zone C.
  2. Place Engineer and Nightingale Units on the ridge so they can support/heal your artillery Units.
  3. Place Reavers and Wolverines at Zone C.
  4. Place Scorpions, Wraiths, Hunters, and Cyclops at Zone B.
  5. Place Locusts at the edge of the ridge in between both zones, closer to Zone B.
  6. Spread Hornets and Vultures out between Zone B and Zone C.
  7. Spread out any additional Units such as Warthogs, Marauders, and Elites between Zone B and Zone C.

Now that you understand where each kind of Unit should be placed, it's important to know why there are set up this way.

The enemies will often attack Zone B from the west (coming from Zone A) or the north (coming from their spawn point). The artillery Units are extremely useful from the ridge as they usually wipe out most of the AI before they can really become a threat to Zone B. In the event they do make an overly aggressive push from either direction, the vehicular firepower placed at Zone B should keep the enemy at bay quite easily. The Engineers and Nightingales supporting your artillery Units are also key here. Typically, your artillery Units should never succumb to destruction due to the constant healing provided.

Often, the enemies will try moving to Zone C as well. The artillery, as well as the Hornets and Vultures placed along the ridge, will combat the enemy infantry and vehicles moving to Zone C, while the Reavers and Wolverines help combat any Air Units.

It's very important to note that during the match, players need to focus on destroying Energy Pods and collecting their Energy Crates. Energy is the only way you can play your cards. It's recommended to use the more mobile Ground Units (Marauders, Assault Elites, Warthogs, and Reavers) to move around the map and collect Energy on the tailend of each Wave and in between Waves as well. If anything, only one player should focus on collecting Energy while the other player focuses their attention on making sure things run smoothly at Zones B and C.

Overall, there isn't much else to explain about this strategy. To recap, Zone B is heavily guarded by powerful vehicular firepower, Zone C is guarded with just enough firepower to combat enemy forces that slip in, and the ridge in between both Zones is packed with both artillery and Air Units that generally destroy just about anything the enemy tries to throw at you before it even becomes a real threat.

After clearing Wave 25, which won't be that bad using the setup outlined above, the achievement will unlock for both players in the match. If a visual representation of this strategy is preferred, please check out the video below, provided by UntilTammaroYT.

Know the ropes10
Complete the Advanced standalone tutorial   (1)

Accessed via the "Tutorials" tab on the Main Menu, the Advanced tutorial will introduce players to more robust gameplay mechanics such as attacking/defending, advanced Unit building, and world interactions. It shouldn't take any longer than five or ten minutes to finish this tutorial and unlock the achievement.

Two heads are better than one10
Complete a mission in co-op   (13)

Unfortunately, there is no Co-Op Campaign matchmaking in Halo Wars 2. You will need to manually invite a player on your friend's list into your Campaign lobby before attempting this achievement. Once you do have a partner, though, choose any mission of your liking and finish it together (difficulty does not matter).

Once you have successfully finished a Campaign mission with a Co-Op partner, the achievement will unlock for both players.

The hard fight40
Complete the Campaign on Heroic     (1)

Refer below to "Surviving the long war" for more information.

Surviving the long war60
Complete the Campaign on Legendary     (4)

This achievement will unlock once all twelve missions of the Campaign have been successfully completed on either a Solo or Co-Op Legendary playthrough (mission select is fine, too). As you can imagine, the Legendary difficulty will increase the AI's health and damage output, and they will generally play much more aggressively altogether. One of the best pieces of advice to keep in mind when playing on Legendary is to rely on a strong defense at all times; in our experience, fortifying bases with turrets is key and Hornets are an extremely reliable Unit to build (when possible), as are Snipers and Marines with the "Grenade Throw" upgrade.

If you have collected the various player-strengthening Skulls prior to playing a mission on Legendary, feel free to activate them in the pre-mission lobby as to make things easier for yourself. The best Skulls to use on a Legendary playthrough are:

  • Pain Train
  • Bountiful Harvest
  • Emperor
  • Total Annihilation
  • Firestarter
  • Things That Go Boom
  • Sugar Cookies

Overall, completing the entire Campaign on Legendary won’t be an easy task, but the ability to use Skulls to strengthen your Units and gameplay should be a significant help in making an otherwise difficult feat more manageable. Make sure you are utilizing the manual save function as often as possible, too; when you get past a tricky section of a mission, make a save as to avoid having to replay some of the mission if things go wrong.

Once all the twelve missions have been completed on the Legendary difficulty setting, this achievement will be yours.

Palmer's Pure Gold30
Earn a gold medal on every mission (except Prologue) on any difficulty   (1)

In Halo Wars 2, every mission objective you complete, whether it's Primary, Optional, or a Bonus, will net you a few thousand points to your overall mission score. On top of this, your overall performance (how many Units you lose during the mission) and speed of mission completion will largely impact your overall score, too. Finally, activating specific Skulls that increase the difficulty of gameplay, such as Pestilence, Sickness, and Nightmare, will also impact your score.

Every mission has three medals: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. For the purposes of this achievement, you will need to obtain a gold medal on every mission except the Prologue, "The Signal." There is no one way to get this done. Some gold medals may come naturally during a Normal playthrough with no skulls activated; sometimes, so long as you complete a few Optional and Bonus Objectives along the way, the gold medal will be yours. It's also worth noting that gold medals obtained in Co-Op playthroughs count towards this achievement. Again, there are numerous ways to go about it.

All in all, if you need to return to a mission after your initial playthrough in order to snag its gold medal, play the mission on Easy and make sure the Nightmare Skull is activated. Despite the low difficulty, this Skull will usually always net you enough points to obtain the gold medal.

Once you have obtained a gold medal in all eleven missions outlined above, this achievement will finally unlock.

Gold rush20
Earn a gold medal on any mission (except Prologue) on any difficulty

Refer above to "Palmer's Pure Gold" for more information.

Lone Wolf40
Complete any mission (except The Signal) solo on Legendary with all skulls activated    (3)

This achievement is best done on Mission 2, A New Enemy, but can only be attempted after collecting all fifteen skulls for the "Collecting a dream" achievement.

In the Campaign lobby, select Mission 2, "A New Enemy," turn on all fifteen skulls, and then make sure the difficulty is set to Legendary. When the mission starts, move all of your Units to the first enemy camp and take them out. You will then receive additional Units after clearing out the camp. Make strategic use of the Kodiaks you are provided soon after by moving your Infantry Units forward to clear the Fog of War. This will allow your Kodiaks to fire artillery at the AI's minibase. With the minibase destroyed, move forward to assault the larger base at the bottom of the hill. Keep in mind that you will receive reinforcements whenever you lose Units.

Once you're given access to build a base, do so immediately and begin building turrets as to protect it from potential enemy assaults. Construct one Generator at your base and then fill the remaining plots with Supply Pads. When you're set with the construction, move your Units to the eastern edge of the valley and attack the enemy base in the northeast. Once it is destroyed, you can build your own and construct additional Supply Pads here, too. Make sure to build turrets for defense!

With two bases under your control, allow yourself to sit still for a few minutes as to stockpile Supplies and Power. During this time, make sure to size up your army (Marines and Hellbringers alike). It's worth noting that you will have two Warthogs during this mission; whenever they are destroyed, they are automatically replaced.

After four or five minutes, head out to the final base on the ridge in the north, taking the eastern path up there (it's much safer to take this route as opposed to attacking from the southwest). It may be a wise idea to set your Global Rally Point Flag near this base during the assault so that any and all new Units you construct will automatically join the battle.

It may take some time, but after destroying the final Banished base, Decimus will appear. Focus all of your Units' firepower on the Brute Warlord and make sure to avoid the orbital strikes when he calls them in. Eventually, you will defeat the Brute and he will retreat, bringing the mission to a close.

The achievement will finally unlock upon successfully completing the mission, provided you were playing on Legendary and had all fifteen skulls activated.

Comrades in arms20
Earn a gold medal on any mission (except Prologue) in Co-op on Legendary    (20)

Refer above to "Palmer's Pure Gold" for more information.

As is evident here, though, this achievement must be done in a Co-Op playthrough of a mission on the Legendary difficulty.

A little bit extra10
Complete half of the Campaign bonus objectives   (1)

Refer below to "A lot extra" for more information.

A lot extra20
Complete all the Campaign bonus objectives   (1)

Alongside Primary and Optional Objectives, each of the twelve missions in the game have anywhere from one to four Bonus Objectives worth completing. Typically, Bonus Objectives involve tasks that require a little more mettle and skill, asking you to perform feats that you normally wouldn't consider while playing through a mission.

Like Primary and Optional Objectives, though, Bonus Objectives will pop-up on your screen once they are available to begin working on. Additionally, pressing during a mission will open up the Objectives Menu, allowing you to track progress as you make your way through a mission.

For a complete list of every mission's Bonus Objective, as well as commentary and tips on how to complete some of the more difficult ones, please refer to the video guide below, courtesy to Average Gamer Guys.

Morbid curiosities20
Collect half of the Skulls    (2)

Refer below to "Collecting a dream" for more information.

Collecting a dream30
Collect all the Skulls    (3)

As is tradition in the Halo games, Skulls are back as a collectible in Halo Wars 2. There are fifteen in total and they are awarded for completing specific Primary Objectives, Optional Objectives, or unmarked tasks throughout all of the missions in the game with the exception of the Prologue, The Signal.

Collecting your first Skull will unlock "Alas, poor Yorick!;" collecting half of the Skulls will unlock "Morbid curiosities;" collecting all fifteen will yield "Collecting a dream." Please see below for a text-based guide on how to obtain the Skull(s) for each mission.

Mission 2: A New Enemy

  • Skull: Grunt Birthday Party
  • How to Unlock: Capture Four of Decimus’ Power Nodes
    • After building your base, four Power Nodes will be shown around the map, indicated by an energy bolt icon. Move your Infantry Units to each of the Nodes to capture them. Make sure to do this before carrying on with the Primary Objective.

Mission 3: Ascension

  • Skull: Paintball
  • How to Unlock: Destroy the Banished base
    • After building your base, begin building a large army of Hornets and Cyclops. Once you're set, head north, beyond Capture Node B, and you will find the Banished base. Do not capture any of the Capture Nodes until after destroying the base (just so that you are not running against the clock).
  • Skull: Pain Train
  • How to Unlock: Destroy the hidden facility’s four structures
    • After building your base, take three or four Hornets and move them to the darkened island south of your base. Here, you will find a hidden Banished base with a few Infantry Units. Use your Hornets to destroy the enemies and the four structures of the base.

Mission 4: One Three Zero

  • Skull: Bountiful Harvest
  • How to Unlock: Don’t let any of the four prison squads die
    • During this mission, Alice will be required to rescue four squads of prisoners, the first half of which are Hellbringers and the second half of which are Warthog Units and Cyclopses. Try to keep the Hellbringers in the rear while you focus on controlling/moving Alice throughout the mission. Once your entire squadron reaches the comms building, move your Hellbringers and Warthogs behind the building. Now move Alice and one Cyclops into one of the two garrisons in front of the building and move the other two Cyclops into the other garrison. Hold out like this until extraction arrives, making sure none of the Cyclops or Units behind the building die.

Mission 5: The Cartographer

  • Skull: Emperor
  • How to Unlock: Destroy both minibases in the central chamber
    • After powering down and passing through the energy barrier, you may notice that in the northern end of the chamber, on both the eastern and western edges, are Banished minibases. Make sure to destroy both bases before moving on with the Primary Objective.

Mission 6: Lights Out

  • Skull: Pestilence
  • How to Unlock: Release all 10 UNSC Prisoners
    • You will find your first set of prisoners just north of the mission start. Then, after passing through the portal, you will need to head to the right-hand side of the valley to find three additional cells of prisoners. Make sure to rescue them before moving on with the Primary Objective.

Mission 7: From The Deep

  • Skull: Total Annihilation
  • How to Unlock: Complete the mission without Spartan Alice being downed
    • The best method to employ for this task is to have Alice either hijack a Wraith on the beach or take control of the Scorpion tank on the beach (either works). Make sure Alice is your primary focus throughout the mission; heal her when needed and make sure she doesn't take the brunt of the enemy's attacks. When the Scarab shows up at the end of the mission, you should already have a sizable army of Scorpion tanks to accompany Alice in taking it down quickly.

Mission 8: Hold The Line

  • Skull: Sickness
  • How to Unlock: Keep the barricades intact
    • In this mission, you will need to protect the western and eastern barricades; the former of which is just to the left of your base and the latter of which is a little southeast of your base. The best way to ensure they aren't overwhelmed and destroyed is to build one Anti-Infantry and one Anti-Vehicle turret at each barricade and then place at least three or four Hornets just ahead of the barricade as the "first line of defense." It's recommended to try doing this on a low difficulty, as the enemy forces become increasingly difficult to keep at bay past the fifteen minute mark.
  • Skull: Hold The Line
  • How to Unlock: Particle Cannon stays above 50 percent health
    • If you are successful in keeping both barricades intact for the "Sickness" Skull, then you shouldn't have to worry about this because no enemy Units would have been able to reach the Particle Cannon.

Mission 9: Under The Dark

  • Skull: Things That Make You Go Boom
  • How to Unlock: Eliminate all three Brute Warlords
    • You will come into contact with the first Warlord by moving your Units past the first base you build and down the ridge to the Banished's base. Provided you stick to the right-hand side of the valley/map once you are in Alice's segment of the mission, you will encounter the second Warlord on your way to the first Kodiak deployment position. The last Warlord can be confronted by continuing to travel north on this eastern edge of the valley; once you reach the second red energy barrier, he will attack you. While the Warlords have a large amount of health, they should be rather easy to kill with Sniper Units and your Spartans.

Mission 10: The Foundry

  • Skull: Wuv Woo
  • How to Unlock: Keep The Scarab Alive During The Entire Mission
    • Keeping the Scarab alive through the mission shouldn't be too much of an issue if you're playing on one of the lower difficulties. If you're playing on Heroic or Legendary, though, make sure the Scarab stays at the rear of your squad so it doesn't take too much damage. Move slowly at all times and be smart as to when it's necessary to retreat and heal your Units.
  • Skull: Sugar Cookies
  • How to Unlock: Keep the scarabs health above 25%
    • If you are attempting to unlock the "Wav Woo" Skull in this mission, this will likely mean your Scarab should have no issue staying above 25% of its health. As mentioned, just take the mission and its objectives slowly and keep your Scarab at the rear. Do not rush!

Mission 11: The Halo

  • Skull: After Party
  • How to Unlock: Rescue Bravo Base
    • When the mission starts, you should notice a Power Node just ahead. Capture that Node and then Captain Cutter will inform you of Bravo Base; they are under attack and need your help. Move your Units to Bravo Base and repel the Banished's assault as quickly as possible.

Mission 12: Last Stand

  • Skull: Nightmare
  • How to Unlock: Keep the Control Room Shield over 50%
    • Since you do not have access to base-building during this mission, you will need to rely on the Units that Captain Cutter periodically provides. To start, make sure to build and upgrades turrets around the edges of the central chamber. Focus on building Anti-Infantry and Anti-Vehicle turrets. Next, you'll want to make sure each of the four entryways of the chamber are appropriately defended. Split your focuses intelligently; you'll have access to Hellbringers, Snipers, Spartans, Nightingales, Warthogs, Wolverines, Scorpions...you name it. Spread them out evenly and make use of your Leader Powers as often as possible.
  • Skull: Shadow
  • How to Unlock: Kill the two Brute Warlords and stop their reinforcements
    • Halfway into the mission, you will be informed that Brute Warlords are converging on your position. They will both be displayed on your mini-map, but they don't necessarily storm your position; rather, they will remain far away, under the cover of the Fog of War, with their army of reinforcements. Once you have a sizable and formidable squadron of mixed units (Snipers, Spartans, Scorpions, Cyclopses, etc.), storm each Warlord's position to take them and their reinforcements out. Remember to make use of your Leader Powers and the Spartans' "hijack" ability, too!
The Scrappy Six20
Complete a Multiplayer match as each of the 6 launch leaders (Matchmaking only)   (3)

In order to obtain this achievement, you will need to complete an online match (Deathmatch, Domination, Strongholds) while playing as each of the six leaders. It doesn't matter if you win or lose; completing the match is sufficient for the purposes of this achievement. The six leaders to choose from when in the pre-game lobby of a multiplayer match are:

UNSC

  • Anders
  • Cutter
  • Isabel

Banished

  • Atriox
  • Decimus
  • Shipmaster

If you have Forge as a leader due to pre-order DLC, he doesn't count. Once you have completed at least one Multiplayer match as each of the six leaders, this achievement will unlock.

NOTE: This achievement can theoretically be stacked with "Full house" since Blitz matches count as match-made games.

First steps10
Complete a Multiplayer match (Matchmaking only)   (2)

This achievement is very simple as it does not involve winning a multiplayer match; completing an online match-made game is sufficient enough. Accessed via the Main Menu under the "Multiplayer" tab, you can choose to play in a variety of gametypes: 3v3 against the AI, 3v3 Strongholds, 3v3 Domination, 1v1 Deathmatch, and 3v3 Deathmatch. Regardless of your choice, simply completing a full match will unlock this achievement.

Natural intelligence10
Play a Skirmish match alone against only AI opponents (1 or more)   (1)

Accessed via the Main Menu under the "Skirmish" tab, Skirmish matches are essentially a custom match against the AI. You can play on your own, but you can also invite players to your lobby. You can also pre-select the map, AI difficulty/leader, and game settings.

While this achievement will naturally unlock after completing a solo Skirmish match against the AI, win or lose, there is a quicker method to get this. Under the "Game Settings" menu, make these two setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Player Defeat on Loss of HQ Timer: 15

Now start the match and once you have player control, recycle your base. All you have to do now is wait fifteen seconds and the match will end, thus unlocking the achievement. Thanks for the tip, Vein 666!

Two heads are better than none10
Win a Skirmish match with a friend against only AI opponents (2 or more)   (12)

First thing's first: invite a friend or another player into your Skirmish lobby. Once you have at least one other player, set both of the AI's difficulty level to Easy and make the following game setting changes:

  • Gametype: Domination
  • Fog of War: OFF
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999

Now start the match and once you and your partner have player control, begin upgrading your bases and building your armies. The main goal here is to capture at least two of the Control Nodes in order to start scoring points. Given that the AI is on the lowest difficulty, you shouldn't have any issue at all in holding both points and repelling the enemy's attack. The match may take a while, though, so if you want to speed things up, go ahead and capture the third Control Node and press onwards to attack the AI bases. Whether you're playing as the UNSC or Banished, it's recommended to storm the AI bases with plenty of Air Units and heavy-hitting, ground-based Vehicle Units.

Once the match ends, you and your partner will both unlock the achievement for defeating the AI.

You've got a case of the Birley20
In a 1v1 Skirmish against Legendary AI, recycle your base in the first 5 minutes and then win    (9)

Naturally, this is one of the game's more difficult Skirmish-based achievements. It will typically take around 30-40+ minutes to defeat the AI on Legendary; however, there's a very effective method that can ensure your victory over the AI in as little as 6-8 minutes.

To start, head into the Skirmish lobby from the Main Menu and set the map to Sentry. Next, make sure to make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Player Defeat on Loss of HQ Timer: 15
  • Minibases Count as HQ: OFF
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Unit Ability Cooldown: 100%
  • Fog of War: OFF
  • Leader Powers: OFF
  • Skulls: Sugar Cookies & After Party

Now set the AI to Legendary and choose the Shipmaster as their Leader. For the purposes of this method, you'll want to choose the Captain Cuter as your Leader. Once the match begins, follow these steps:

  1. Queue up the "Mini-Frag Launcher" upgrade and three Jackrabbits at your main base.
  2. Claim every firebase on the map, and the two minibases closest to the AI.
  3. Move the Local Rally Point Flag behind the AI's HQ.
  4. Queue up the "Support Drone" upgrade at your main base.
  5. Build a Supply Pad on the minibase near the AI's HQ and queue up 6 Jackrabbits.
  6. Set this minibase's Local Rally Point Flag behind the AI's HQ.
  7. Queue up 8-9 Jackrabbits at the minibase in the middle of the map and move its Local Rally Point Flag behind the AI's HQ.
  8. Upgrade all of the Supply Pads you've built thus far.
  9. Queue up 8-9 Jackrabbit at the secondary HQ you've built in front of the AI's HQ and move its Local Rally Point Flag behind the AI's HQ.
  10. Continue to build and upgrade Supply Pads at all of the minibases around the map.
  11. Using the three bases of which you've moved their Local Rally Point Flags, continue to produce Jackrabbits.
  12. Your Jackrabbits will eventually begin to attack the AI's HQ as they roll towards their Rally Point.
  13. After a minute of attacking the AI's HQ, recycle your first HQ and send the Scorpion to join your Jackrabbits (the Scoprion is a product of having the "After Party" skull activated).
  14. Claim back your HQ's plot quickly before the AI takes it.
  15. Continue to produce Jackrabbits (when possible) whenever your Unit count drops below 80/80.

Once the AI's HQ is destroyed, mop up his remaining Units and the match will end! That's all there is to it. On average, it should only take about 6-8 minutes to defeat the AI if you follow the strategy outlined above.

The rank and file10
Recruit or construct 1 of each UNSC unit in Multiplayer or Skirmish (Launch units only)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally over the number of online matches you play during your time on Halo Wars 2, but it can be done rather quickly in a solo Skirmish match against the AI on Easy. If you prefer to knock this out quickly, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: OFF

Now make sure to set the AI's difficulty to Easy and choose a UNSC Leader. Take note that each UNSC Leader has an exclusive Unit to build, so you will have to redo this twice more to build those two Units at a later time.

When the match starts, begin building a few turrets to act as a proper defense (just in case the enemy attacks you), and then construct and upgrade one Generator and one Supply Pad for additional Supplies and Power. Next, upgrade your Base (the main building) to a Command Center for 1,000 Power (this unlocks Tier 2 Units). Once that is done, upgrade the Command Center to a Headquarters for another 1,500 Power (this unlocks Tier 3 Units).

You'll then want to construct one of each building: Airpad, Armory, Barracks, Garage. After these have been built, begin constructing one of each Unit from each. You can refer below for a quick checklist of what needs to be constructed for this achievement.

Airpad

  • Hornet
  • Nightingale
  • Vulure

Armory

  • Condor Gunship
  • Douglas-042 (exclusive to Anders)
  • Alice-130 (exclusive to Isabel)
  • Jerome-092 (exclusive to Captain Cutter)

Barracks

  • Hellbringers
  • Sniper
  • Cyclops

Garage

  • Warthog
  • Wolverine
  • Kodiak
  • Scorpion

Headquarters

  • Marines
  • Jackrabbit
  • Protector Sentinel (exclusive to Anders; 2 Leader Points needed - 1 to unlock, 1 to purchase, then you can construct at the HQ)

Once you have constructed all 18 UNSC Units, this achievement will finally unlock.

The tribe10
Recruit or construct 1 of each Banished unit in Multiplayer or Skirmish (Launch units only)    (1)

Now make sure to set the AI's difficulty to Easy and choose a Banished Leader. Take note that each Banished Leader has an exclusive Unit to build, so you will have to redo this twice more to build those additional Units at a later time.

When the match starts, begin building a few turrets and shields to act as a proper defense (just in case the enemy attacks you), and then construct and upgrade one Extractor and one Harvester for additional Supplies and Power. Next, upgrade your Stronghold (the main building) to a Citadel for 1,000 Power (this unlocks Tier 2 Units). Once that is done, upgrade the Citadel to a Fortress for another 1,500 Power (this unlocks Tier 3 Units).

You'll then want to construct one of each building: Apex, Foundry, Raid Camp, War Council. After these have been built, begin constructing one of each Unit from each. You can refer below for a quick checklist of what needs to be constructed for this achievement.

Apex

  • Engineer
  • Banshee
  • Shroud
  • Blisterback

Foundry

  • Marauder
  • Reaver
  • Locust
  • Wraith

Fortress

  • Chopper (exclusive to Atriox & Decimus)
  • Ghost (exclusive to Shipmaster)
  • Grunt Squad

Raid Camp

  • Jump Pack Brutes
  • Suicide Grunts
  • Elite Rangers
  • Hunters

War Council

  • Scarab
  • Atriox's Chosen (exclusive to Atriox)
  • Warlord (exclusive to Decimus)
  • Honor Guard (exclusive to Shipmaster)

Once you have constructed all 19 Banished Units, this achievement will finally unlock.

Trash compactor20
Destroy 100 vehicles with anti-vehicle units (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely unlock naturally over the course of your time playing the many Multiplayer modes (Skirmish and Blitz included). Check below for the Anti-Vehicle Units you'll want to use when trying to destroy your enemy's vehicular Units.

  • Cyclops
  • Hunters

The achievement will unlock after destroying 100 vehicles with the aforementioned Units.

Flyswatter20
Destroy 100 air units with anti-air units (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely unlock naturally over the course of your time playing the many Multiplayer modes (Skirmish and Blitz included). Check below for the Anti-Air Units you'll want to use when trying to destroy your enemy's aircraft.

  • Wolverine
  • Reaver

The achievement will unlock after destroying 100 air-based vehicles with the aforementioned Units.

Meat grinder20
Kill 100 infantry with anti-infantry units (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (2)

This achievement will likely unlock naturally over the course of your time playing the many Multiplayer modes (Skirmish and Blitz included). Check below for the Anti-Infantry Units you'll want to use when trying to destroy your enemy's infantry.

  • Hellbringers
  • Snipers
  • Suicide Grunts
  • Elite Rangers

If you wish to speed progress on this achievement, you can play a Skirmish match against the AI on Normal. It doesn't matter as to which map you play on, but you should be playing a Strongholds match with a Banished leader. During that match, simply spam Suicide Grunts against the AI's infantry; you'll be surprised at how much achievement progress you can make within one match alone.

The achievement will unlock after killing 100 infantry with the aforementioned Units.

Spare change10
Spend 5 Leader Points in Multiplayer or Skirmish    (1)

During Multiplayer and Skirmish matches, Leader Points are awarded gradually over time by building and upgrading your bases, capturing Power Nodes, and destroying enemy Units. These Points are represented by a small white circle icon on the top-right of your mini-map.

In order to use a Leader Point, you'll first need to bring up the Leader Power menu by tapping . Here, you can use your Points to either buy/unlock or upgrade several different Powers such as Restoration Drones, Orbital Strikes, ODST Drops, Glassing Beams, and more.

All in all, this achievement will come naturally over the course of your online career, so don't worry about rushing to get this done.

Big Spender30
Spend 100 Leader Points in Multiplayer or Skirmish    (1)

Unlike "Spare change," this achievement will take a considerable amount of time to unlock given its requirements. In truth, this is going to come naturally the more and more you play Multiplayer and Skirmish matches. That being said, if you do want to grind this out, you should set up a Skirmish match against the AI on Easy, making sure to make the following setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: OFF

Start the match and begin building Supply Pads and Generators (or Harvesters and Extractors if playing as the Banished) on every available plot of land around the map. Once they have been constructed, you can then upgrade them and begin building turrets, too. Eventually, you will have a steady stream of Power coming in, which means you can constantly upgrade your turrets over and over again by switching between the Anti-Infantry, Anti-Air, and Anti-Vehicle variants. Each time you upgrade a turret, you will gain credit towards a Leader Point that can then be used.

Continue this turret-upgrading process until you either have no more Leader Powers to unlock/upgrade or the enemy AI destroys your HQ and wins. Again, it's not necessary to boost this achievement, but it can help speed things up if you're impatient and don't want to play online too much.

After spending 100 Leader Points, this achievement will finally unlock.

Space Healer30
Cast 100 Healing Leader Powers (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will come naturally over the course of your time playing the many Multiplayer, Skirmish, and Blitz modes. As mentioned before, there is no real reason to grind this out unless you don't want to get involved with match-made Multiplayer or Blitz games.

So, if you want to grind this out against the AI in a Skirmish match, head into the Skirmish lobby and start a Strongholds game immediately with Captain Cutter as your Leader. There is no need to make any additional setting changes.

Once the match starts, open up the Leader Power menu and use the Restoration Drone ability. Now quit/end the match. When you return to the lobby, start the match again and repeat this process as needed. It may seem questionable, but this method will make it so that you're technically casting a Healing Leader Power within a minute and a half of each other as opposed to having to wait several minutes of cooldown before being allowed to cast it again in-game.

In the end, regardless of how you go about this achievement, it will finally unlock after casting 100 Healing Leader Powers.

Overkill30
Destroy 500 units with Leader Powers (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (2)

This achievement will come naturally over the course of your time playing the many Multiplayer, Skirmish, and Blitz modes. If, however, you want to grind it out, grab another player and employ the strategy below, as made available by Shadow 00 Fox and Erazor.

Jump into a Skirmish lobby with your partner and set up a 1v1 match (remove any and all AI). Be sure to make the following setting changes:

  • Gametype: Stronghold
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: OFF

Both players should choose Atriox or Decimus as their leader; the Shipmaster will work, too, in truth.

Now start the match. Each player should capture three Control Points. Make sure the seventh Control Point is left alone. Both players should then begin to construct as many Suicide Grunts as possible and grouping them up in an open area of the map (but separated from each other). Once Player 2 (the Co-Op partner) has maxed out their Units and has them grouped together, Player 1 should use the Glassing Beam Leader Power to kill the Suicide Grunts. Now Player 2 can do the same on Player 1's squadron of Suicide Grunts.

While you wait for the Leader Power to cool down, build up another army of Suicide Grunts and get them into position. You can then repeat this process over and over again as needed.

After killing 500 Units with Leader Powers, the achievement will finally unlock.

The hand that feeds20
Kill a unit owned by a developer or someone who has this achievement   (4)

This achievement is purely luck-based but it won't be too difficult to obtain regardless of how late you jump into the online portion of the game. Essentially, this is a viral achievement that is earned for killing someone who already has the achievement (which they likely earned for killing a developer's unit around the launch week of the game).

Don't put too much thought into this achievement; just play match-made Multiplayer games and this will come sooner than you can expect.

Making the most of the day10
Complete 3 Daily Challenges in one day   (1)

Daily Challenges are reset at 8pm PST, 11pm EST, or 7am GMT (depending on your time zone). Along with Weekly Challenges, they can be accessed via the Main Menu by opening the "Challenges" tab.

Generally, Daily Challenges are much simpler compared to their Weekly counterpart; they usually consist of winning one match-made game of Deathmatch or Domination, or finishing two match-made games as a specific leader (Cutter, Anders, Shipmaster, etc.). Upon completing a Daily Challenge, re-opening the "Challenges" tab will show that specific one crossed off and replaced by a countdown timer as to when the next Challenge will become available.

Again, these Challenges are fairly easy and shouldn't take longer than an hour to complete considering they only ask to complete matches under certain constraints, not win them.

A strong showing for the week10
Complete a set of 3 Weekly Challenges in one week   (2)

Weekly Challenges are reset at 8pm PST, 11pm EST, or 7am GMT (depending on your time zone). Along with Daily Challenges, they can be accessed via the Main Menu by opening the "Challenges" tab.

Weekly Challenges are a little more time-consuming and difficult (not too difficult, though). A number of examples of a Weekly Challenge may be to complete twenty match-made games, complete nine matches as a specific leader, or obtain fifty counter-kills in a matchmaking. Upon completing a Weekly Challenge, re-opening the "Challenges" tab will show that specific one crossed off and replaced by a countdown timer as to when the next Challenge will become available.

All in all, you will need to complete all three Weekly Challenges in a single week in order to obtain this achievement.

Short-term commitment20
Complete at least 1 Daily Challenge each day for a week   (2)

This achievement is quite self-explanatory: you will need to complete one of three Daily Challenges each day for a single week. Given this requirement, this achievement may prove to be a a little difficult as you'll need to make sure to sign-in and play for an hour or so each day. Despite this, Daily Challenges, as mentioned above, are typically simple tasks that can be knocked out fairly quickly. There will almost always be a Daily Challenge for completing two matches as a specific leader. This may be the easiest of them all, since completing a single match of Blitz online will only last around ten minutes or so.

Once you have successfully completed one Daily Challenge for each day of the week for any given week, this achievement will unlock.

Long-term commitment30
Complete at least 1 Weekly Challenge each week for a month   (2)

Again, this achievement is very self-explanatory: out of the three Weekly Challenges you are given for a week, you must complete at least one of them for four weeks straight.

Weekly Challenges involve a bit more commitment to the online modes of the game but focusing on the easiest of the three provided in a given week shouldn't be too difficult, especially if you're lucky enough to draw a more generic Weekly such as, "Complete 9 match-made games as [Leader]. Similarly to what has been covered above in "Short-term commitment," a single match of Blitz online typically lasts ten minutes, so if you have this Weekly Challenge, focus on using the specified leader in Blitz matches.

Once you have successfully completed one Weekly Challenge for four weeks in a row, this achievement will unlock.

Duellist10
Win your first Blitz match (Matchmaking only)   (2)

Blitz, the card-based, fast-paced, online strategy mode in Halo Wars 2, can be played 2v2 or 3v3.

Accessed via the Main Menu by opening the "Blitz" tab, you will be able to inspect/build your card decks and even buy additional Card Packs should it strike your fancy. When building your twelve-card deck, it's important to choose cards that cover both offensive and defensive capabilities. Once your deck is set, go ahead and find a match of your preferred setup (3v3 is probably the best option for this achievement).

In order to win a match of Blitz, you will need to capture and hold two of three Zones in order to score points; the first team to score 200 points will win the match. During matches, Energy Pods will periodically be dropped around the map. When destroyed, these Pods will spill three Energy Crates. It is extremely important that you and your teammates collect these Energy Crates since cards can only be played with Energy!

In recap, you only need to hold at least two Zones in order to score points. While holding a third Zone increases the rate of points earned, it's better to focus on fortifying and defending only two. Communicate with your teammates, recycle cards that you don't need, and play strategically in order to defeat the opposition and unlock the achievement.

Ante-up10
Complete the Blitz tutorial   (1)

Accessed via the "Tutorials" tab in the Blitz Menu, this tutorial will introduce players to the most basic of mechanics for Blitz Mode, such as collecting Energy, using the cards in your deck, and capturing Zones. It shouldn't take any longer than five or ten minutes to finish this tutorial and unlock the achievement.

Card shark20
Complete 25 Blitz matches (Matchmaking only)   (2)

This achievement is very simple as it does not involve winning Blitz matches; completing matches is sufficient enough. If you want to get this out of the way quickly and don't mind losing (or bringing down your teammates), you can jump into a 2v2 match and simply leave your Units idled at Home Base. Your opponent will likely capture all three Zones during this time and the match will end within three or four minutes.

If you want to win, though, try searching for a 2v2 or 3v3 match and employ the general guidelines outlined in the "Duellist" achievement above. If played out to their fullest, Blitz matches typically last ten to fifteen minutes; it'll be rare if they take any longer. Once you have completed 25 Blitz matches, the achievement will unlock.

Full house10
Complete Blitz matches as each of the 6 launch leaders (Matchmaking only)   (1)

In order to obtain this achievement, you will need to complete a full, online match of Blitz while playing as each of the six leaders. It doesn't matter if you win or lose; completing the match is sufficient for the purposes of this achievement. The six leaders to choose from when in the pre-game lobby of a Blitz match are:

UNSC

  • Anders
  • Cutter
  • Isabel

Banished

  • Atriox
  • Decimus
  • Shipmaster

If you have Forge as a leader due to pre-order DLC, he doesn't count. Once you have completed at least one match as each of the six leaders, this achievement will unlock.

All or nothing10
Play all cards in your deck at least once in a single Blitz match    (2)

To start, Blitz decks consist of twelve cards. In-game, you will only draw four cards at a time; when you play a card, you draw a new one. Cards are not single-use, though, so you could potentially draw the same card a number of times depending on the luck of the draw.

Overall, this achievement is most likely going to come naturally as you play Blitz matches for all the other Blitz-related achievements in the game. There is no alternative, expedited strategy involved here. Just play Blitz, play your cards, and, if necessary, recycle cards you have already played to increase the chance of a new card appearing in your hand. As soon as you play your twelfth card, the achievement will unlock.

Stacked the chips10
Gather 150 Energy Crates over any number of Blitz matches    (1)

In Blitz matches (Online or Firefight), Energy Pods will be periodically be dropped into the map. If you move any of your units near an Energy Pod, they will begin firing at it until it's destroyed, revealing three smaller, purple Energy Crates. So long as you have a Ground Unit standing close by, you will automatically collect these three Crates.

In an online game of Blitz, the number of Pods you destroy and Crates you collect will be determined by your playstyle and the opposition. In a game of Blitz Firefight, the enemies will not pay attention to the Energy Pods; they are yours for the taking, provided you can manage destroying/collecting them while defending your zones simultaneously. On average, you will need to destroy 50 Energy Pods and collect its contents (3 Crates per Pod). Once you've managed just that, this achievement will unlock.

Jackpot40
Play 777 total Blitz cards over any number of matches    (1)

This achievement can be earned over any and all matches of Blitz, be it online or in the Firefight Mode. Generally, it should come naturally to those who are actively playing Blitz. Depending on the opposition, the cards you draw, and your Energy level, you can play anywhere from 30 to 60+ cards a match.

If you desire to get this quickly, though, it's recommended to fill your preferred deck with cheap (low Energy) cards and spam them as often as possible while in a solo Firefight match against the AI (don't do this online as it'll just disrespect your teammates). If you focus on seeking out Energy Pods and playing cheap cards, you should be able to play a decent amount before the match ends due to the AI capturing more zones than yourself.

Beat wave 10 in Blitz Firefight    (3)

Refer back to "It just keeps going" for more information.

As a general reminder, however, you should focus on fortifying the ridge in between Zone B and Zone C with Kodiaks/Blisterbacks/Locusts/Engineers/Nightingales, dropping in your Wolverines/Reavers into Zone C, and filling up Zone B with your heavy-hitting cards (Scorpions, Wraiths, Cyclopses, etc.). Also, make sure to ignore Zone A at all times and make use of your more mobile Ground Unites in order to move around the map quickly to collect Energy Crates.

Score 500,000 points in a single Blitz Firefight    (4)

Refer back to "It just keeps going" for more information on how to net a score of 500,000 points.

Paint it red10
Achieve the highest possible kill-streak in any Blitz mode    (6)

This achievement requires you to get ten kills wishing four seconds of each other (similar to a Killionaire medal in past Halo games). It's recommended to work on this achievement during a Blitz Firefight match while going for the "It just keeps going" achievement.

If you manage to build a sturdy artillery squadron on the ridge in between Zones B and C (Blisterbacks usually work better than Kodiaks), then you should have no trouble killing the required amount of enemies within four seconds of each other by Wave 10 or 15.

If you're having some trouble getting this achievement by Wave 15, try to hang in there for a few more rounds; the longer you hold out, the more of a chance you'll have to call in additional artillery and reach a wave where it's mostly just Infantry Units, which are much easier to obliterate with artillery as opposed to Air Units or ground-based vehicles.

Build 10 Grizzlies (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally over the number of online matches you play as Forge, but it can be done rather quickly in a solo Skirmish match against the AI (difficulty does not matter). If you prefer to knock this out quickly, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Stronghold
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999

Once the match starts, build a Garage on your main base and then process to construct Grizzlies once you are able to. These tanks will take up eleven units, so you likely won't able to have ten on the field at once unless you increase your maximum population size. Regardless, once you have built at least ten Grizzlies, this achievement will unlock.

Heroes never die10
Win 3 matches as Forge (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally over the number of online matches you play as Forge, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: After Party

Now choose Forge as your leader and begin the match. Once the match starts, quickly move around the map and build a base on every available plot. You can destroy each base as soon as they're in exchange for a tank (courtesy of the After Party Skull). Continue to build and recycle bases until you have a sizable or capped population of tanks. From here, you can send all your units to the AI's sole base and destroy it with relative ease.

After the base is destroyed, proceed to eliminate the enemy tank that spawns in its place and you will win the match. Repeat this method twice more if needed and the achievement will finally unlock.

Man-to-freak communication10
Kill 50 units with Forge's Warthog (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (2)

This achievement will likely come naturally while playing online matches as Forge, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Map: Sentry
  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Leader Powers: Off

Now choose Forge as your leader and begin the match. Once the match starts, build an Armory and then build Forge's Warthog when it becomes available. With Forge's Warthog out on the battlefield, send it to each of the Power Nodes around the map. There are usually two Sentinels guarding each Node (there are a total of eight on this map), and Forge's vehicles will eliminate them fairly quickly. If you'd like, you can upgrade the Warthog at the Armory for deadlier firepower.

Once all eight Sentinels have been killed, you can end the match and then start it up again to repeat the process. It shouldn't take too long to net fifty kills in this manner, and once you do, the achievement will unlock.

DLC: Kinsano Leader Pack
Price: $5.99 USD Achievements: 3 Points: 30

I don't want to set the world on fire10
Burn 50 infantry with Kinsano's Flamewall ability (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

Please refer below to "The roof is on fire" for more information.

The roof is on fire10
Kill 100 units with Inferno (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement, as well as "I don't want to set the world on fire" may come naturally during your online career while playing as Kinsano. That being said, both of these can be done with minimal effort in a solo Skirmish match against the AI on Easy. If you prefer to knock these out this way, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Map: Sentry
  • Gametype: Stronghold
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off

Now choose Kinsano as your leader and begin the match. This solution will cover the method used in obtaining "I don't want to set the world on fire" first.

Once the match starts, build an Armory and then build Kinsano's Cyclops when it becomes available. With Kinsano's Mech out on the battlefield, send it to the enemy base right away. If you'd like, you can construct an Airpad and build a few Hornets and Nightingales as to provide aerial support and healing support for the Mech Unit.

When you arrive at the enemy base, proceed to move Kinsano's Cyclops to any of the base's buildings and then tap to attack it with the Flamewall ability. This ability will allow the Mech to shoot dual-cannons of fire in a jet-stream-like fashion at the target. Typically, though depending on the angle the Mech is attacking the building, you should be able to destroy two buildings in one use of the ability.

While the ability is cooling down, the enemy will rebuild any destroyed buildings and likely send out a few Infantry Units to attack the Mech. If you chose to bring along a few Hornets, then there's nothing to worry about here; the Hornets will dispatch the Infantry Units quickly. When the ability is ready to use again, proceed to activate Flamewall again and again on the enemy's base buildings. Once fifty enemies - or in this case, buildings - have been destroyed with Flamewall, the achievement will unlock.

In order to work on "The roof is on fire," you will want to use the same match settings outlined above. The only significant difference here - and it's much less involved of a process - is that when the match starts, you will have to build bases on every available plot and upgrade a few buildings and turrets of your own so that you earn enough Leader Points to unlock the Inferno ability.

Once you have access to this ability, simply call it in and position the area of effect over the entirety of the enemy's main base. When the Inferno is called in, it will burn the buildings and turrets for a short duration of time and likely destroy anywhere from four to five in process. When the ability is ready to use again, just keep on positioning it over the center of the enemy's base to destroy the outer buildings and turrets. This process does take a while in order to net one-hundred kills, but it's far more effective and far less luck-based than trying to do it legitimately online.

NOTE: If you have a boosting partner, both of these achievements can be obtained even faster by having one enemy play as a Banished leader in a 1v1 Skirmish match. When the match begins, the Banished player should build as many Grunt units as possible and then send them to the center of the map. Here, the Kinsano player can use the Mech's Flamewall ability or Inferno on the four-to-five dozen Grunts, effectively speeding up the progress for each achievement much faster than doing it alone.

Twisted Firestarter10
Win 3 matches as Morgan Kinsano (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally over the number of online matches you play as Kinsano, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: After Party

Now choose Kinsano as your leader and begin the match.

Collect all the Campaign logs    (3)

In Halo Wars 2, Phoenix Logs are a set of collectibles scattered around each of the twelves Campaign missions of the game. There are a total of twenty-four Phoenix Logs to collect for this achievement, and while you will likely stumble across more than half of them naturally while moving around the missions, some are a little more hidden and others will require you to complete specific mission objectives.

A video guide for the location of all twenty-four Phoenix Logs would be quite unnecessary; instead, please refer to THIS text-based guide in order to help guide you in collecting all of the Phoenix Logs for this achievement.

DLC: Colony Leader Pack
Price: $5.99 USD Achievements: 3 Points: 30

Hunter/Hunted10
Taunt 50 vehicles with the Hunter Captain's ability (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

Despite the achievement's description stating the Hunter Captain's ability must be used against vehicles, this achievement can be earned by simply using its ability a total of fifty times.

If you want to get this done quickly, head into a solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy and and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Domination
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Unit Ability Cooldown: 200%

Now choose Colony as your leader and begin the match (the map choice does not matter). Once the match starts, build a War Council and then build the Hunter Captain followed by its "Taunt" ability. With the Hunter Captain out on the battlefield, simply use its special ability by tapping while the unit is selected. It will take about twenty-five seconds for the ability to cool down, but once it does, use it again and again until the achievement finally unlocks.

Attach 50 skitterers to units (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally while playing online matches as Colony, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Domination
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999

Now choose any map and make sure you pick Colony as your leader before initiating the match. Once the match starts, begin building a few Grunt Squads at the Stronghold. At this time, you can use your one Leader Point to unlock the Skitterer in the Leader Powers menu and then begin building a handful of these mobile turrets at the Stronghold.

When the Skitterers arrive on the battlefield, select them with your cursor and then "attach" them to any of the Grunt Squads by tapping over the Infantry Unit. Continue this "attaching" process over and over again as needed throughout the match (or the next match if you decide to quit early rather than wait to upgrade your population count) and the achievement will finally unlock once fifty Skitterers have been attached to a Unit.

  • Gametype: Deathmatch

Now choose Colony as your leader and begin the match.

DLC: Sergeant Johnson Leader Pack
Price: $5.99 USD Achievements: 3 Points: 30

Our big green style10
Win 3 matches as Sgt. Johnson (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally over the number of online matches you play as Sgt. Johnson, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: After Party

Now choose Sgt. Johnson as your leader and begin the match. Once the match starts, quickly move around the map and build a base on every available plot. You can destroy each base as soon as they're built in exchange for a tank (courtesy of the After Party Skull). Continue to build and recycle bases until you have a sizable or capped population of tanks. From here, you can send all of your units to the AI's sole base and destroy it with relative ease.

After the base is destroyed, proceed to eliminate the enemy tank that spawns in its place and you will win the match. Repeat this method twice more if needed and the achievement will finally unlock.

For a brick, he flew pretty good!10
Kill 50 infantry units with the Colossus' Stomp ability (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (2)

This achievement may not come as naturally like the others in this DLC, however, it can still be obtained rather quickly through two or three matches of Solo Blitz Firefight.

To begin, head into Blitz Mode and craft a deck for Sergeant Johnson, making sure to include the Colossus card. The rest of the cards in this deck can vary to whatever suits your desire. Now start a Solo Firefight match, send your starting units to capture all three Control Points, and then recycle the cards in your hand until you draw a Colossus unit. If you have enough energy, summon the mech onto the battlefield; if not, hold out on the early waves with your starting units until you can gather enough energy required to call in the Colossus.

With the mech out on the playing field, you can now move it around the map, hunting and attacking enemies. When each new enemy wave starts, note which type of units spawn into the map; if its air units or vehicular units, have your Colossus hang back as to avoid losing health, but if its infantry units, move the mech to their location and tap to execute the "Stomp." This attack will force the mech into a slow animation where it stops firing its main cannons, instead gearing up to stomp on its targeted foes. The attack deals a lot of damage and has generous splash damage, so even enemies five feet away can/will die from the stomp.

You should be able to net anywhere from 15-20+ Stomp kills during a single match before things get a little too hectic on the later, more difficult rounds. Keep in mind that you can have multiple Colossi out on the map, thus allowing you to potentially cover more ground for kills during the infantry-heavy waves. Once you have killed fifty enemies with the mech's Stomp ability, this achievement will unlock.

NOTE: If you have a boosting partner, this achievement can be obtained much easier/quicker by going toe-to-toe in a 1v1 Skirmish match, where one player chooses a Banished leader and the other Sgt. Johnson. When the match begins, the Banished player should work on building as many Grunt units as possible and then sending them to the center of the map. Here, the Sgt. Johnson player can use the Colossus' Stomp ability on the four-to-five dozen Grunts, effectively speeding up the progress of the achievement as opposed to doing it alone in Firefight.

…and I don't do bits and pieces10
Use Repair Beacon special ability 15 times. (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement can be done by simply using Johnson's Repair Beacon ability a total of fifteen times; you don't actually have to use it on a vehicle.

If you want to get this done quickly, head into a solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy and and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Domination
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Unit Ability Cooldown: 200%

Now choose Sgt. Johnson as your leader and begin the match (the map choice does not matter). Once the match starts, build an Armory and then build the Sgt. Johnson unit. With Johnson's mech out on the battlefield, simply use his special ability by tapping while the unit is selected. It will take about forty-five seconds for the ability to cool down, but once it does, use it again and again until the achievement finally unlocks.

DLC: Commander Jerome Leader Pack
Price: $5.99 USD Achievements: 3 Points: 30

You've been busy10
Win 3 matches as Commander Jerome (Multiplayer, Skirmish, or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally over the number of online matches you play as Commander Jerome, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: After Party

Now choose Commander Jerome as your leader and begin the match.

And my shadow10
Kill 25 units with Jerome's Command Mantis unit. (Multiplayer, Skirmish, or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement can be obtained very quickly in a single match of Solo Blitz Firefight.

To begin, head into Blitz Mode and craft a deck for Commander Jerome, making sure to include the his own hero card, Commander Jerome. The rest of the cards in this deck can vary to whatever suits your desire. Now start a Solo Firefight match, send your starting units to capture at least two of the Control Points, and then recycle the cards in your hand until you draw the Commander Jerome unit. If you have enough energy, summon the him (and his mech) onto the battlefield; if not, hold out on the early waves with your starting units until you can gather enough energy required to call in him in.

With the Jerome and his mech out on the playing field, you can now move the mech around the map, attacking enemies. The mech is extremely powerful and should be able to wipe out units of any kind in just a few seconds. Once you have killed twenty-five enemies with Jerome's Mantis unit, this achievement will unlock.

Alpha and Omega10
Hijack 40 vehicles with Omega Team members (Multiplayer, Skirmish, or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement may not come as naturally like the others in this DLC, however, it can still be boosted quickly in a Skirmish match against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Domination
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: Emperor

Now choose Commander Jerome as your leader and begin the match (AI leader does not matter). Once the match starts, quickly move around your half of the map and build two firebases and at least one mini-base. Continue to build upon and upgrade the buildings and turrets of your bases so that you earn enough Leader Points to unlock the Omega Team ability.

Once you have access to this ability, call it in near the AI's main firebase. From here on out, you can force your three Spartans to camp just outside the perimeter of the enemy's base, waiting until Jackrabbits (if the AI is playing as an UNSC leader) are summoned onto the battlefield near the Local Rally Point. When a Jackrabbit is close, select one of your Omega Team Spartans and click on the Jackrabbit to hijack it. Keep in mind you can choose to eject a Spartan out of a vehicle by tapping on the vehicle, scrolling over to the Spartan, and pressing again. Another note to keep in mind is that you must wait until all three members of Omega Team are killed before using the ability again.

This process does take a while and is very tedious, but it's far more effective and far less luck-based than trying to do it legitimately online. Once you have hijacked forty vehicles with Omega Team members, this achievement will finally unlock.

DLC: Arbiter Leader Pack
Price: $5.99 USD Achievements: 3 Points: 30

Trials of the Arbiter10
Win 3 matches as The Arbiter (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally over the number of online matches you play as The Arbiter, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: After Party

Now choose The Arbiter as your leader and begin the match.

None shall escape10
Kill 20 air units with the Arbiter while raging (Multiplayer, Skirmish, or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally while playing online matches as The Arbiter, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Domination
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999

Now choose any small map (Badlands or Sentry) and make sure you pick The Arbiter as your leader before initiating the match. Once the match starts, build a War Council; once it is complete, summon The Arbiter.

When The Arbiter arrives on the battlefield, select him with your cursor and then move out to any of the Power Nodes around the map. The Sentinels guarding the Nodes will begin attacking your Hero unit, so quickly tap to activate Rage and then attack the Sentinels with . You should be able to eliminate all three-to-four hostiles within one duration of Rage.

Continue to utilize this method throughout the match against the Sentinels guarding other Power Nodes. It may take two or three matches to get this done, but it will go quickly regardless (you can quit out of a match once there are no more Sentinels to kill). Once you have killed twenty Sentinels with the Arbiter while raging, this achievement will unlock.

Time and place10
Trap 100 units with Stasis (Multiplayer, Skirmish, or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally while playing online matches as The Arbiter, but it can be very quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Domination
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Skulls: Emperor

Now choose The Arbiter as your leader and begin the match (the map choice does not matter). Once the match starts, quickly move around the entirety of the map, building firebases and mini-bases. Continue to build upon and upgrade the buildings and turrets of your bases so that you earn enough Leader Points to unlock the Stasis I and Power Surge I abilities.

Once you have access to these two abilities, begin building as many Grunt units as your population limit allows. When they are all huddled up on the battlefield at the Local Rally Point, use Stasis I to trap your own units (you should be able to net 10-15 here). Now wait until the ability cools down - the Power Surge I ability and Emperor Skull will expedite the cool down tremendously - and then use it again and again on your units. It should take no more than five to ten minutes to trap one hundred units, at which point the achievement will finally unlock.

DLC: Serina Leader
Price: $5.99 USD Achievements: 3 Points: 30

Nothing too difficult, then?10
Win 3 matches as Serina (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally over the number of online matches you play as Serina, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: After Party

Now choose Serina as your leader and begin the match.

Repeat this method twice more as needed and the achievement will finally unlock.

Freeze!10
Freeze 50 squads with Cryo Abilities (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

Please refer below to "Insult upon injury" for more information.

Insult upon injury10
Shatter 20 squads that have been Frozen. (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement, as well as "Freeze!," may come naturally during your online career while playing as Serina. That being said, both of these can be done with minimal effort in a 3v1 Skirmish match against the AI on Legendary. If you prefer to knock these out this way, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Map: Sentry
  • Gametype: Strongholds
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off

Now choose Serina as your leader and begin the match. Once the match starts, begin building Frostravens at your HQ and allow them to sit in place when they come out onto the battlefield. Soon after the first handful of Frostravens are built, the enemy will eventually have reached your base (or be on the way) and begin attacking your HQ. It is at this time that the aerial units will begin to freeze the hostiles.

Now open the Leader Ability Menu and unlock/use the Seismic Blast ability on the frozen enemies. You should be able to shatter/kill anywhere from five to ten enemies depending on their grouping patterns. Simply repeat this process a few more times throughout the match when the enemy approaches your base. Soon enough, you will unlock "Freeze!" for freezing fifty units and "Insult upon injury" for shattering twenty units.

NOTE: Rather than utilizing the Frostravens to freeze enemy troops, you can also use the "Cryo Bomb" Leader ability. This ability will freeze enemies much quicker, and with Fog of War turned off, you can freeze enemies anywhere on the map where they are grouped up, rather than waiting until they have reached your side of the map.

DLC: Operation: Spearbreaker
Price: $5.99 USD Achievements: 5 Points: 40

Vidmaster Challenge: 100 drops5
Gain a gold medal and complete all objectives in ‘Gatecrashers’ on legendary   (1)

In order to unlock this achievement, you will need to complete all seven objectives (four Optional and three Bonus) and earn a gold medal on Legendary in the first mission of the DLC, "Gatecrashers." Unfortunately, you must do this all on one playthrough of the mission.

With this in mind, please see below for the mission's Par Time and Optional/Bonus Objectives.

Par Time

  • 45 minutes

Optional Objectives

  • Rescue India Company's captured Wolverines
  • Find and defend India Company's Nightingale
  • Kill both Goliaths [0/2]
  • Activate all Banished holo-projectors

Bonus Objectives

  • Eliminate Controller Sentinels [0/8]
  • Lure Sentinels near Banished buildings to destroy them [0/5]
  • Use Holo Decoy to distract Controller Sentinel [0/10]

For additional notes, please continue reading below.

Additional Tips

  • Try to complete the mission within 2-3 minutes of the Par Time; the Par Time bonus at the end is important
  • Save often throughout the mission and reload if you are losing too many units; the less deaths you have, the higher your combat bonus will be at the end
  • Ignore the Phoenix Logs, they are not important
  • Focus on building/upgrading Hornets and Nightingales units throughout the entire mission
  • At the end of the mission, do not touch the Retriever Sentinel while the "swarm" is protecting it, otherwise you will lose too many units and damage your combat bonus

For an in-depth walkthrough of this mission, please refer to multi-step guide below, courtesy of Segendary Ty. All credit for this walkthrough goes to him. Please note that the walkthrough begins after the first teleporter. Directional references will be made assuming you do not rotate the map after the first teleporter.

  1. After being teleported, retreat to the mini-base slightly northeast and destroy it. This will allow the Controller Sentinel to destroy the Banished base you ignored, earning [4/5] Banished bases destroyed for the second Bonus objective.
  2. Once the Banished base is destroyed, build a mini-base and double back to the Controller Sentinel. Use a Holo Decoy to distract/destory it, then build an HQ.
  3. Build three Supply Pads and two Generators at the HQ. Build an Armory at the mini-base. Start building Turrets at the entrance of your main HQ.
  4. Move the ODST unit to capture the Power Node slightly northwest of Capture Point B, then have them return to the HQ.
  5. Begin using your Leader Points. Unlock Restoration Field and Scatter Bomb (I and II) and later, when you have enough Points, unlock the Grizzly Battalion.
  6. Upgrade your HQ, then begin upgrading/building your buildings in this fashion:
    • Upgrade Generators
    • Upgrade Supply Pads
    • Upgrade Turrets to Anti-Vehicle
    • Upgrade "Advanced Logistics" at the Armory
    • Upgrade "Fortify Base" at the mini-base
    • Upgrade your main HQ to Level 2
    • Build an extra Generator and then build an Air Pad at the HQ
    • Upgrade Air Units
    • Upgrade "Reinforcements" at the mini-base
  7. Build 2 Nightingales and 8 Hornets, then upgrade Air Units once more
  8. Move the ODST unit to Capture Point C. Once it's captured, call in a Holo Decoy to stay in the area and distract the Controller Sentinel, and then return your ODST unit to the HQ. Do not destroy the Controller Sentinel just yet.
  9. With your ODST Unit, Hornets, and Nightingales, move to Capture Point B. Once it's captured, use a Holo Decoy to distract the Controller Sentinel, and then destroy it. Before moving onwards, allow your Nightingales to heal your units, and make a few additional upgrades:
    • Upgrade Air Units
    • Upgrade your main HQ to Level 3
    • Upgrade "Advanced Logistics," "Fortify Base," and "Reinforcements" at the mini-base's Armory
    • Upgrade "Wingmen" at the Air Base
  10. Move your army northeast. At this time, your main HQ should be heavily fortified with four Anti-Vehicle turrets so you should not have to worry about keeping any additional units around the HQ. Your army at this time should consist of your ODST unit, 16-20 Hornets, and 4-6 Nightingales.
    • If you have the Leader Point(s) available, unlock the Grizzly Battalion as soon as you can. If you have the population room, summon the Grizzlies into your army.
  11. Continue northeast and attack the Banished Base. Focus on the Shield Generator and Turrets first, then kill the Goliath that's stampeding around. Once the base is destroyed, begin building your own base and move your ODST unit further east to active a holo-projector.
    • After destroying this base, you will most likely get the distress call to rescue India Company's Nightingale. If this happens, round up your Hornets and Nightingales only and head over to the distress beacon on the other side of the map. Once you get to India Company's nightingale, you will need to defend it for around 30-60 seconds before the objective is marked as complete.
  12. For this new base, upgrade it to Level 2 and then Level 3. As for the buildings, make one Garage and six upgraded Supply Pads. Build one Anti-Vehicle Turret and one Anti-Infantry at the entrance of the HQ. Build one Anti-Vehicle and one Anti-Air Turret at the backside of the HQ. At this time, finish upgrading everything at the mini-base's Armory, and then destroy the Armory and build an upgraded Supply Pad. You should have enough energy at this time, so destroy the Generators at your first HQ, too, and replace them with upgraded Supply Pads.
  13. At this point, you should be sitting at around 28-31 minutes. Leave the Grizzly tanks at the most recently built HQ. Move your ODST unit and Hornets/Nightingales back to Capture Point A. Once taken, use a Holo Decoy to distract and destroy the Controller Sentinel.
  14. Using these same units, move up to Capture Point C and use another Holo Decoy on the Controller Sentinel here before destroying it. Now slowly make your way north towards Capture Point D.
  15. While you are taking Capture Point D, the second Goliath will attack; kill the Goliath to complete the Optional objective. Once Capture Point D is taken, quickly retreat near Capture Point C. The Controller Sentinel will destroy a Banished mini-base on its way to Point D, completing the second Bonus objective. Use a Holo Decoy to distract the Sentinel and then destroy it.
  16. Take your army to the northwest corner of the map to find and activate the third and final holo-projector.
  17. Now move your army back across the map to take Capture Point E. Make use of Holo Decoys to distract the Controller Sentinel and complete the third Bonus objective.
  18. If, at any point, your Hornets begin to die, replace them with fully upgraded Wolverines from the Garage of your second HQ.
  19. Once all five Capture Points have been taken and you are at a maximum population, rescue India Company's Wolverines in the center of the map.
  20. Take your army to the final terminal near the light bridge and activate it. This will trigger the Retriever Sentinel to spawn.
  21. Use all the firepower you have to take down the Sentinel's shields. At 75% health, it will summon a Sentinel swarm. Fall back at this time, and do not attack or get near the Retriever Sentinel until the swarm dissipates and the ODSTs give the "OK" to move in.
    • The Retriever Sentinel will do this again at 50% and 25% health. Once the third swarm flies away, finish off the Sentinel to complete the mission

If everything went according to plan, you should have finished the mission between 43-48 minutes with all seven objectives completed. Even without any score-increasing skulls activated, you should a comfortable score for the gold medal score.

All in all, with every Optional and Bonus objective checked off, and a gold medal obtained on a Legendary playthrough, the achievement will unlock.

Vidmaster Challenge: No fly zone5
Gain a gold medal and complete all objectives in ‘Not On My Watch’ on legendary   (3)

In order to unlock this achievement, you will need to complete all six objectives (three Optional and three Bonus) and earn a gold medal on Legendary in the second mission of the DLC, "Not On My Watch." Unfortunately, you must do this all on one playthrough of the mission.

With  this in mind, please see below for the mission's Par Time and Optional/Bonus Objectives.

Par Time

  • 45 minutes

Optional Objectives

  • Finish the mission without losing any Colossus units
  • Destory Banished Forerunner ship supplies
  • Disable Controller Sentinel shields [0/4]

Bonus Objectives

  • Destroy enemy units and buildings with the Colossus Stomp [0/15]
  • Kill Goliaths [0/10]
  • Kill the Hunter Captain within 3 minutes

For additional notes, please continue reading below.

Additional Tips

  • Try to complete the mission within 2-3 minutes of the Par Time; the Par Time bonus at the end is important
  • Save often throughout the mission and reload if you are losing too many units; the less deaths you have, the higher your combat bonus will be at the end
  • Ignore the Phoenix Logs, they are not important
  • Focus on building/upgrading Hornets and Nightingales units throughout the entire mission
  • At the end of the mission, when the Hunter Captain teleports away, make sure to move your units away, otherwise the area of effect attack will destroy and kill your units.

For an in-depth walkthrough of this mission, please refer to multi-step guide below.

  1. Once you are required to build a base and mech pad for the Colossus unit, choose the base to the southwest (this direction is given assuming you did not rotate the map from the beginning of the mission).
    • On the way to this base plot, your ODST unit will pass an Energy Node. Capture it, then move on.
  2. Once the base and mech pad have been built, move the Colossus east towards the Capture Point. The ODSTs can stay at the HQ for now.
    • There are a two sets of Banished supply buildings on the way to the Capture Point. Make use of the mech's Stomp ability to destroy these buildings, making progress towards the first Bonus objective.
  3. After the buildings have been destroyed, move the Colossus to the Capture Point but do not stomp on the base plate yet; instead, begin reinforcing your HQ. You should build three Supply Pads and two Generators. Then build two Turrets at the entrance of your base (one of them should be upgraded to Anti-Infantry and the other should be upgraded to Anti-Vehicle).
  4. Once building is underway, run out the clock for a few minutes as a means of stockpiling resources.
  5. Begin using your Leader Points to unlock Restoration Drones and Scatter Bomb (I and II).
  6. Begin upgrading your buildings in this fashion:
    • Upgrade Generators
    • Upgrade Supply Pads
    • Upgrade HQ to Level 2
    • Build Air Pad
    • Build Armory
    • Upgrade "Advanced Logistics" at the Armory
    • Upgrade Air Units
    • Upgrade "Reinforcements" at the mini-base
  7. When there are around 8 minutes left on the clock, use the Colossus' Stomp ability on the Capture Point's base plate. Now move the Colossus back to your HQ.
  8. Build 2-3 Nightingales and 6-8 Hornets.
  9. Build two Turrets at the backside of your HQ. Upgrade one to Anti-Infantry and one to Anti-Vehicle.
  10. Move your army west and destroy the Banished mini-base. Build your own mini-base here with two upgraded Generators and two Anti-Infantry Turrets.
  11. Continue building Hornets and Nightingales at your HQ. You should have 4-6 Hornets for every 1 Nightingale. Also, focus on upgrading your HQ to Level 3, then upgrading everything left at the Armory. Once there are no more Armory upgrades left to build, destroy the building and replace it with an upgraded Supply Pad.
    • Try to leave 1 Nightingale and 2-3 Hornets at the HQ since Banished Infantry units will often attack your base. The Air units will help supplement the firepower of the upgraded Turrets you've already built.
  12. With your main army, begin moving northwest around the edge of the map.
    • You will essentially be moving in a giant clockwise circle around the edge of the map during this mission.
  13. Along the way to the second Capture Point, make a pit stop to shut down the first Controller Sentinel shielding generator. Without its shields, you can use a Holo Decoy to distract and destroy the Sentinel.
  14. After taking out the Sentinel, move to the second Capture Point.
    • At each Capture Point, there should be 2 Goliaths (sometimes, there's only one Goliath at this second Capture Point).
  15. Kill the 1-2 Goliaths here and shut down the Capture Point.
    • During your circular march around the map, make sure you are making quick pit stops with the Colossus unit to "stomp" on Banish supply buildings.
  16. Continue moving northwest. When you reach the northwest corner of the map, destroy the Banished base and build your own. Fill this base with upgraded Supply Pads and four Anti-Infanty Turrets.
    • During your march, make sure you are upgrading Air Units back at your main HQ (specifically, the "Wingmen" upgrade).
  17. Continue to move your army past the light bridge towards the third Capture Point. Kill any and all Goliaths here (most of the time, two will spawn, but there have been instances where a second set of two will spawn).
  18. After shutting down the Capture Point, continue moving east (or north, if you rotated the map). Shut down the shielding generator and then distract and destroy the Controller Sentinel. Continue marching east towards the fourth Capture Point.
  19. When you arrive, you should be greeted by 1-2 Goliaths. Kill them and then shut down the Capture Point.
    • Remember to utilize the Colossus' Stomp ability to destroy Banished buildings for the first Bonus objective.
  20. Continue moving your army southeast around the map. Your next goal is to shut down and destroy the final Controller Sentinel. Once that is done, gather your entire army at the nearby light bridge that leads into the center of the map. You no longer need to keep any Nightingales or Hornets at your main HQ.
  21. With your army fully upgraded and healed up, cross the light bridge, enter the center of the map, and begin laying waste to the Banished forces. Make sure to destroy the Forerunner supplies laying around the center of the launch pad in order to complete the second Optional objective.
  22. Once the area is cleared of enemies, make a manual save. Now activate the terminal.
  23. The Hunter Captain boss will appear after shutting down the launch sequence. Move your Colossus and ODST units to a safe area, and then attack the Hunter Captain with your near-immortal army of Hornets and Nightingales. You will need to move quickly with your Air units since there is an objective to defeat the boss within three minutes.
  24. Once the Hunter Captain hits 75% health, he will teleport a little bit and be protected by three Goliaths. Kill the Goliaths quickly and then focus fire on the Hunter Captain. When the Captain hits 50% health, he will teleport again and another three Goliaths will spawn. Again, kill the Goliaths and then finish off the Hunter Captain.
    • If, at any point in the fight, the 3-minute objective pops up as failed, reload your checkpoint and retry the boss fight.
    • The reason the Colossus unit was kept away from the fight during this time was to ensure it was not destroyed for the first Optional objective.

If everything went according to plan, you should have finished the mission between 42-46 minutes with all six objectives completed. Even without any score-increasing skulls activated, you should net a comfortable score for the gold medal score.

All in all, with every Optional and Bonus objective checked off, and a gold medal obtained on a Legendary playthrough, the achievement will unlock.

DLC: Yapyap Leader
Price: $5.99 USD Achievements: 3 Points: 30

You met me on Reach!10
Win 3 matches as Yapyap (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally over the number of online matches you play as Yapyap, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: After Party

Now choose Yapyap as your leader and begin the match.

Repeat this method twice more as needed and the achievement will finally unlock.

Piggyback!10
Activate the Grunt Goblin charge 10 times. (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

Please refer below to "That sweet smell of home" for more information.

That sweet smell of home10
Fire 15 methane shells from the Methane Wagon. (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement, as well as "Piggyback!," can be knocked out very quickly in a 1v1 Skirmish match against the AI on Easy. That being said, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Map: Sentry
  • Gametype: Strongholds
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Unit Ability Cooldown: 200%
  • Skulls: Emperor & Pain Train

Now choose Yapyap as your leader and begin the match. Once the match starts, build three Yapyap units at your base's Armory. Once the three Hero units are out on the battlefield, you can activate "Grunt Goblin" by pressing when the unit is selected. For the purposes of "Piggyback!" all you have to do is activate the ability; you don't need to hit any enemies with it. Repeat this process on all three Hero units as needed. Once the ability has been activated ten times, the achievement will unlock.

While you are waiting for the three Yapyap's "Grunt Goblin" ability to recharge, you can start building three or four Methane Wagons at your base's Fortress. In addition to this, start building Cannon Fodder at the Fortress. Once the Wagons and Fodder are out on the battlefield, select the Methane Wagon, move your reticle over a group of Infantry units, and press . This will cause the vehicle to fire methane shells at the selected Infantry units. You can repeat this process as many times as needed with the several Wagons/Fodder you have out on the map. Once you have fired fifteen methane shells at Infantry units, "That sweet smell of home" will unlock.

DLC: Awakening the Nightmare
Price: $19.99 USD Achievements: 37 Points: 410

Spreading Darkness10
Win 3 matches as Voridus (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally over the number of online matches you play as Voridus, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: After Party

Now choose Voridus as your leader and begin the match.

Repeat this method twice more as needed and the achievement will finally unlock.

Cataclysmic10
Kill 50 units with Cataclysm (Multiplayer, Skirmish, or Blitz)    (1)

Please refer below to "Revel in Destruction" for more information.

Revel in Destruction10
Use Invigorating Frenzy 50 times    (1)

This achievement, as well as "Cataclysmic," can be boosted quickly in a Skirmish match against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Map: Mirage or Sentry
  • Gametype: Strongholds
  • Unit Ability Cooldown: 200%
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: Pain train, Bountiful Harvest, & Emperor

Now choose Voridus as your leader and begin the match (AI leader does not matter). Once the match starts, because Fog of War is turned off and you have access to the entire map, begin building mini-bases on every available plot of land. Next, use the War Council at your HQ to deploy Vordius onto the battlefield. When he's ready to command, move him across the map and position him just in front of the enemy's HQ. Now use the Leader ability "Voridus Pack Assault II" and call it in near Voridus himself. This Leader ability will deploy a Blisterpack (that, because of the passive Infusion Tech Leader ability, shoots Infused rounds), a Wraith, and an Infused Engineer that can shoot a single Infused gel shot at the ground by using its special ability (). All of this, coupled with Voridus' own special ability that allows him to spread Infusion on the ground (and wherever he moves) by use of his Gravity Hammer, means you can coat the entire front entrance of the enemy's HQ in Infusion. What's more, and probably most effective, is that you can even use "Infusion Wake III," another Leader ability, to spread more Infused gel around the enemy's base and front entrance.

When the Leader ability "Cataclysm" is ready to use, activate it. This will cause all infused areas on the map to ignite and deal extra damage to enemies. It typically kills enemies pretty quickly, and it even causes damage to building structures, too. Since you are positioned right in front of the enemy's HQ, any units that are deployed will step right into the cataclysmic gel and die.

During this time, you should also be activating the Leader ability called "Invigorating Frenzy," which will activate a healing zone on infused areas around the map, buffering your own units. The cooldown for both abilities is fairly long (especially Cataclysm), so some patience is required when working on these two achievements.

Once you have killed fifty units with Cataclysm, "Cataclysmic" will unlock. Similarly, "Revel in Destruction" will unlock once Invigorating Frenzy has been activated fifty times.

Unbreakable10
Win 3 matches as Pavium (Multiplayer, Skirmish or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement will likely come naturally over the number of online matches you play as Pavium, but it can be done quickly in solo Skirmish matches against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Gametype: Deathmatch
  • Starting Supply: 9999
  • Starting Power: 9999
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: After Party

Now choose Pavium as your leader and begin the match.

Repeat this method twice more as needed and the achievement will finally unlock.

Marked for Death10
Paint units using Pavium or Orbital Designator 30 times (Multiplayer, Skirmish, or Blitz)    (1)

Please refer below to "The Long Game" for more information.

The Long Game10
Kill 50 units with Mega Turrets (Multiplayer, Skirmish, or Blitz)    (1)

This achievement, as well as "Marked for Death," can be boosted quickly in a Skirmish match against the AI on Easy. If you're taking this route, head into the Skirmish lobby and make these setting changes:

  • Map: Mirage or Sentry
  • Gametype: Strongholds
  • Unit Ability Cooldown: 200%
  • Fog of War: Off
  • Skulls: Pain train, Bountiful Harvest, & Emperor

Now choose Pavium as your leader and begin the match (AI leader does not matter). Once the match starts, because Fog of War is turned off and you have access to the entire map, begin building mini-bases on every available plot of land. Once a mini-base is built, it will come supplied with an Apex, Foundry, and Raid Camp. Manually destroy these buildings and build Mega Turrets in their place. From here, you can sit back and relax; the Mega Turrets have incredible range, so those closest to the enemy's HQ will lay waste to any and all units the AI deploys onto the battlefield.

While this is happening, be sure to deploy Pavium from the War Council at your own HQ. When the Brute is ready for command, move him to the enemy base on the other side of the map and position him just in front of the AI's HQ. Here, you can use his special ability to paint targets that are being deployed onto the battlefield (while Pavium is selected, tap over an enemy unit to "paint" them). When the ability is cooling down, you can use the Leader ability Orbital Designator to paint targets, too.

Once thirty hostiles have been marked with either ability, "Marked for Death" will unlock. Additionally, "The Long Game" will unlock once you have killed fifty units with the Mega Turret(s), which should be easily obtainable in a singe match.

Smash!10
Gain a gold medal and complete all objectives in ‘What Could Go Wrong?’

In order to unlock this achievement, you will need to complete all five objectives (three Optional and two Bonus) and earn a gold medal in the first mission, "What Could Go Wrong?" in a single playthrough. Please refer below for a checklist of the mission's objectives.

Optional

  • Expand to all base plots [0/3]
  • Rescue the Reavers
  • Build on all turret slows near the launching bays [0/5]

Bonus

  • Capture all power nodes [0/4]
  • Salvage all Covenant resources [0/10]

As for the gold medal, it may come naturally during a Normal playthrough without any active skulls so long as you complete all of the Optional/Bonus objectives and complete the mission under or close to Par Time. That being said, though, it's best to play each mission on Easy with the Nightmare Skull activated. Despite the low difficulty, this Skull will always net you enough points to obtain the gold medal.

Once you have obtained a gold medal and completed all five objectives in a single playthrough of this mission, this achievement will finally unlock.

Serving a New Master5

Story-related, cannot be missed.

This achievement will unlock after completing Mission 3, "Light the Fuse."

We Got This5
Reach the final room of The Archive without calling in reinforcements from the teleporters.

This achievement is earned during Mission 4, "The Archive."

After being introduced to Voridus' Infusion gel, the game will prompt you to use the Brute's special ability to clear out a large wave of Flood. Following this, as you enter the next area, you will have a forced interaction with a Forerunner teleporter. These teleporters can be used to call in reinforcements (simply stand near the base plate and press , then choose which type of unit you want). For the purposes of this achievement, you must ignore calling in any reinforcements until you reach the final chamber of the facility.

This is best done while playing on Easy since the only units you begin the mission with are Voridus, three Jump Pack Brute units (2 Brutes per unit), and three Elite Rangera units (2 Elites per unit). By mixing these units' abilities/tactics with the various Leader powers - such as Infusion Wake and Cataclysm - you should have very little trouble making it through the mission with such a small army. Don't be mistaken, though: towards the end of the mission, you may lose your Jump Pack Brutes and Elite Rangers and be left only with Voridus. Just make sure to utilize Atriox's Bulwark often in order to heal your squadron before moving onto the next fight.

Once you reach the final chamber of the facility - the room that has the Flood-covered locks - the achievement will unlock. It's also at this point in which you can finally call in reinforcements to help supplement your firepower during the final assault.

Nimble, for a Big Fella5
Navigate the laser defenses in The Archive without losing any units on Heroic or above.

This achievement is earned during Mission 4, "The Archive."

At the very beginning of this mission, you will be prevented from venturing deeper into the facility due to a Forerunner defense system that blocks the way. The only way to navigate past these lasers is to use the nearby control panel and power them down. After this, you will come in contact with five more laser defenses throughout the mission: the first will require you to use Voridus and the Elite Rangers to turn off the lasers that block the Jump Pack Brute's path; the second and third require one of your more agile units such as Elite Rangers or, later, the Honor Guard, to zigzag through a maze/grid of moving lasers and reach the control panel to shut them off; the fourth set of lasers is more of a roadblock, and can only be turned off after surviving a large wave of Flood in a circular chamber; the fifth and final set of lasers is much like the third set in that you will need to use one of your units to navigate through a maze/grid that moves across the ground. If, by this point, you lost your Elite units and do not have enough resources to call them in, Voridus himself can "tank" his way through the lasers due to his shields and high HP.

Overall, this is a relatively easy achievement so long as you use an agile unit such as Elite Rangers when moving through the maze-like laser grids. If if you do not have the Nightmare skull activate, you can also save before attempting to pass through the laser grids. Should your units get zapped by a laser, you can restart your checkpoint and try it again. Once you've re-activated the Sentinel defenses and completed the mission, the achievement will unlock provided you did not lose any units to the Forerunner defense systems.

This achievement will unlock after completing Mission 5, "Manifestation."

Banished Prowess15
Beat any level on legendary in par time with a scoring skull active (AtN only)

In the Campaign lobby, select Mission 5, "Manifestation," and turn on any one of the scoring skulls (preferably Nightmare). Now turn on as many non-scoring skulls as you want to help makes things easier. It's recommended to use Bountiful Harvest, Emperor, Pain Train, and Sugar Cookies. Next, select the Legendary difficulty and begin the mission.

When the mission starts, fend off the initial Flood waves with your starting army and then begin constructing three Harvesters and two Power Extractors at the main base. The goal here is to upgrade the base to Level 2 as quickly as possible. Once that is done, go ahead and construct an Apex and a War Council, and then you can begin building your army of Engineers and Banshees (there should be six Engineers; the rest of the army should consists of Banshees). While these units are being built, focus on upgrading your base to Level 3, Advanced Logistics and Reinforcements at the War Council, and Air Upgrades and Banshees upgrades at the Apex. As the population max increases, continue to fill your army with Engineers and Banshees.

With a maxed out army, you can finally begin working on the primary objective. Move your army north and you will eventually be required to turn back south, destroy a Flood-infested mini-base, and build a Mega Turret after retaking the mini-base for your own. The Mega Turret, once constructed, will destroy a Flood blockage in the north and allow passage deeper into the canyon where you will encounter the Proto-Gravemind. Your next objective here is to destroy the monstrosity, but to do so, you will need to attack each of its carapaces and then the Flood-hives within. When this happens, the Proto-Gravemind will recede into the ground, and another opening on its topside will open up. Use your Banshee army and focus fire onto this grotesque opening.

After this happens, the Proto-Gravemind will enter a "critical mass rising" state, a percentage will appear at the top of the screen, and your objective will require you to build additional Mega Turrets around the map in order to attack the target and reveal another carapace. For the purposes of the "Before This Gets Out of Hand" achievement, you must not allow that "critical mass" percentage to reach or rise above 50%; if it does, you will miss the achievement. Luckily, this shouldn't be too much of an issue, even on Legendary. Because your army mainly, if not entirely consists of Aerial Units, you can easily move the Banshees around the map quickly to reach the designated zones for each Mega Turret.

Just keep in mind that at each Mega Turret location there is a Flood-infested mini-base. The Banshees will have to destroy the base before you can build your own and construct a Mega Turret. The Proto-Gravemind's critical mass percentage will rise from the moment it first recedes into the ground until the moment you've built a Mega Turret and have returned to the designated area around the monstrosity. It's at this point that critical mass percentage will begin falling back down to 0%. Once a carapace, the hives within, and the opening on the Flood's topside have been destroyed, critical mass will begin rising again. Repeat this Mega-Turret-returning-to-the-Proto-Gravemind process twice more and you will receive a new objective: locate the Forerunner construct in the southwest corner of the map.

When you arrive, destroy the Flood infestation covering the Forerunner construct and a Retriever Sentinel will appear before making its way towards the Proto-Gravemind on its own. Move your Banshee army towards the Proto-Gravemind, use the Sentinel's special ability () on the Flood mass, and then attack the opening on the Gravemind's topside one last time. After this is done, the mission will come to end and "Before This Gets Out of Hand" will unlock.

The Par Time for this mission is 30 minutes, and so long as you built your initial Banshee/Engineer army at the start of the mission in about 11-12 minutes, you should be able to finish the mission in 26-28 minutes with little trouble. Thus, having completed a mission on Legendary in under Par Time with at least one scoring skull active, "Banished Prowess" will unlock at the post-mission screen as well.

Collect every Phoenix Log collectable in 'Awakening the Nightmare'    (1)

Much like the main game, Phoenix Logs are collectibles scattered around each of the five missions of the Awakening the Nightmare Campaign. There are a total of ten Phoenix Logs to collect for this achievement (two per mission). While you will likely stumble across at least half of them naturally while moving around the map and completing Bonus and Optional objectives, there are a few that are well hidden, tucked away in dark corners of the map.

At this time, no video guides exist for the location of the collectibles, so make sure to explore the maps thoroughly at a steady pace. As mentioned, most of these logs can be found quite easily, while others will require you to venture off the main path into dark corners of the map.

The Ancient Enemy50
Complete the 'Awakening the Nightmare' campaign on Legendary     (1)

This achievement will unlock once all five missions of the Campaign have been successfully completed on either a Solo or Co-Op Legendary playthrough (mission select is fine, too). Like the main Campaign, the Legendary difficulty will increase the AI's health and damage output. Moreover, the AI will play much more aggressively. Again, as suggested for the main Campaign, one of the best tactics when playing on Legendary is to rely on a strong defense; fortifying bases with Turrets is key and Aerial Units are an extremely efficient to build (when possible), as are Engineers.

If you have collected the various player-strengthening Skulls prior to playing a mission on Legendary, feel free to activate them in the pre-mission lobby (available via Mission Select) as to make things easier for yourself. The best Skulls to use on a Legendary playthrough are:

  • Pain Train
  • Bountiful Harvest
  • Emperor
  • Total Annihilation
  • Firestarter
  • Things That Go Boom
  • Sugar Cookies

The ability to use the Skulls listed above should be a significant help in making an otherwise difficult feat more manageable. Make sure you are utilizing the manual save function as often as possible, too; when you get past a tricky section of a mission, make a save as to avoid having to replay some of the mission if things go wrong.

For additional guidance in completing each mission, please refer below for some key tips.

Overall Tips

  • Build Engineers. They will help keep your defenses and units alive. The Flood will rarely attack Engineers, which makes them great as both mobile and stationary healing beacons.
  • Prioritize Aerial and Vehicular Units over standard Infantry Units (Grunts, Brutes, Elites, and Hunters).

Mission 1

  • Focus on keeping the Locusts alive, as you cannot build additional Locusts in this mission.
  • Do not feel compelled to capture every single mini-base, though do take time to build and upgrade as many Turrets as possible while moving through the mission.
  • Focus on building up an army of Banshees and Engineers in this mission to supplement the Scarab's attack power and help keep it alive and well.

Mission 2

  • Keep your Goliaths alive! It's recommended to make sure there is at least one Engineer per Goliath duo (during the second line of defense).
  • Once you reach the final line of defense, move quickly to get all three Blisterpacks online. Once operational, leave one or two Engineers with each Blisterpack and build/upgrade a Turret near them, too.
  • Ignore the Energy Nodes during the final line of defense; you will likely get overwhelmed with your forces that far away from the main HQ.
  • During the final line of defense, you should focus on building up an army of Engineers, Banshees, and Wraiths. The Banshees and Engineers can cover the north, while the Wraiths and Pavium can cover the south.

Mission 3

  • Do not bother capturing all four Flood-infested mini-bases. It may only be wise to capture a single one for a small increase in Supply production.
  • Build a Mega Turret at your main HQ when you enough Energy and then build the Lingering Damage upgrade.
  • Focus on building an army of Banshees, Engineers, and, if you desire, Blisterpacks.
  • Do not stay out in the field for too long when the pressure begins builds up. Once the pressure builds up to 70%+, fall back to your main HQ.
  • Towards the end of the mission, when the Abominations join the fray, use "Stasis" to slow them down (if there are more than one).
  • Engineers can repair the drill, so use them wisely during the final defense.

Mission 4

  • Use Infused Gel often to lay waste to the lesser Flood Infection forms, but avoid combat when you can.
  • The supply caches off the main path should be collected, but don't wait around to destroy the Flood Tentacles.
  • At the malfunctioning light bridge, it's okay to sacrifice any Elite Ranger Units you may have. Focus on controlling Voridus, using his Infused Gel and Cataclysm to destroy the Flood when you can.
  • Don't be afraid to use Voridus to rush through the laser defense systems. His shields and high HP means he can tank damage pretty well.
  • In the final chamber, focus on keeping only two locks intact. Don't hesitate to run circles around the perimeter of the chamber, if needed.

Mission 5

  • Focus on building an army of Engineers and Banshees.
  • At Mega Turret sites, leave on stationed Blisterpacks and one Engineer back; this will keep the Turrets safe from potential Flood attacks.
  • After constructing the first Mega Turret, hang back at your main HQ and build/upgrade your units. So long as you hang back and avoid encountering the Proto-Gravemind, you have all the time in the world to amass your army.

Once all the five missions have been completed on the Legendary difficulty setting, this achievement will be yours.

Watch My Six10
Complete wave 20 in co-op as a UNSC/Banished partnership (Terminus Firefight)   (2)

This achievement must be done in an online game with other players, whether it is through a private match or online game.

Before a match of Firefight Terminus begins, you and your teammates will have some time to choose your desired Leader. If you're playing with a friend, simply coordinate so that one player is a UNSC Leader (Anders, Cutter, Isabel, etc.) and the other is playing as a Banished Leader (Atriox, Decimus, Shipmaster, etc.). On the other hand, if you are playing online with random teammates, wait for them to pick their Leader before choosing your own (unless you have a mic - then you can easily communicate).

Once you have completed wave 20 where one player is a UNSC Leader and another a Banished Leader, this achievement will unlock.

Refer below to "Fortress" for more information on reaching/defeating wave 20.

Outflood the Flood15
Build and hold a minibase on every slot of a map at the same time (Terminus Firefight)

This achievement can be done in a Solo Firefight match or an online game with other players.

Refer below to "Walled In" for more information.

Ka-Ching!10
Destroy 20 bonus drops in a single game (Terminus Firefight)

This achievement can be done in a Solo Firefight match or an online game with other players.

During Terminus Firefight matches, bonus drops will, for lack of a better word, drop into the battlefield after every five waves. Two of these supply pods fall close to the Terminus itself, while many of the other pods fall on the outer perimeter of the map. A pod's location is always fixed and is easily identifiable by impact craters on the ground.

These bonus drops are similar to Blitz Mode's Energy Pods in that, when destroyed, they will spill their contents and be available for looting. There are bonus drop pods for supplies, energy, health, and veterancy. For the purposes of this achievement, you must destroy twenty pods in a single match. The best way to do this is to always destroy the two near the Terminus in between waves, and those closest to the Barricade plots in the southeast and west (when the coast is clear).

High Maintenance5
Build 50 barricades in a single game (Terminus Firefight)

This achievement can be done in a Solo Firefight match or an online game with other players.

Refer below to "Turret Farmer" for more information.

Turret Farmer5
Build 50 turrets in a single game (Terminus Firefight)

This achievement can be done in a Solo Firefight match or an online game with other players.

While playing Terminus Firefight, you should notice several plots of land around the map: square-shaped plots around the Terminus, HQ, and mini-bases for Turrets, and long, rectangular plots around the perimeter of the map for Barricades. Once you have a steady flow of resources coming in from your Supply Pads and Generators, begin your construction frenzy.

You can choose to tackle these achievements in one of two ways, though the second method is more efficient:

  1. Build a few Turrets and Barricades in the immediate vicinity (around the Terminus and two mini-bases), but never upgrade them. When they get destroyed, re-build immediately.
  2. Build a few Turrets and Barricades in the immediate vicinity (around the Terminus and two mini-bases). As you amass a fair amount of resources, begin moving your a small Aerial squad (3-4 Hornets/Banshees) around the map, building Barricades whenever you can. For every new mini-base you build, you will unlock 4-7 additional Turret plots.

Once a total of 50 Turrets have been built, "Turret Farmer" will unlock. Similarly, once a total of 50 Barricades have been built, "High Maintenance" will unlock.

NOTE: If playing cooperatively, this achievement is not cumulative across all players. As such, it's recommended to work on these two achievements in a solo match since you won't have to worry about your teammate(s) utilizing their "side(s)" of the map for their own base building.

Pristine5
Prevent the Terminus from taking any damage for 15 waves (Terminus Firefight)

This achievement can be done in a Solo Firefight match or an online game with other players. The solution below will assume you are playing alone.

In Terminus Firefight, the sole objective is to protect the Terminus from being destroyed by the enemy. When the Terminus is taking damage, you will receive an audible and on-screen "warning" that the Terminus is under attack. For the purposes of this achievement, since you need to protect the objective from Waves 1-15, should that warning ever be displayed, quit out of the match since you will have failed the requirements for this achievement.

In the pre-game lobby, set the difficulty to Easy. As for your Leader, any will do, but it's recommended to choose a UNSC Leader such as Jerome or Sergeant Forge. Now begin the match. Once you have player control, begin building three Supply Pads at your main HQ. Make note of each wave's enemy patrol (the dotted line on the mini-map) and use your already-available Infantry Units to repel their attack. If necessary, go ahead and deploy 2-3+ additional Marines. As you begin stockpiling resources, build another Supply Pad on the nearby mini-base and then upgrade as many Supply Pads until you run out of Energy.

When your Energy is depleted, you should have enough Supplies to build two Generators on your main HQ. Construct these buildings and continue to hold off the enemy's attacks. While you are defending the Terminus, begin building 2-3 fences to the east and west of your main HQ (focus on the direction the enemies are spawning most frequently). Should supplies withstand, upgrade the fences once, then again into Fortified Bunkers. You can then begin to fill the Bunkers with Marines. In addition to this, be sure to build Turrets near the Bunkers and at the base of the Terminus (upgrade all Turrets are the Anti-Air variant).

With this initial setup, you should have little issue holding off for the first 7-8 waves. Because you will continue to stockpile resources while defending the objective, make sure to build the second mini-base with an upgraded Supply Pad, more Anti-Air Turrets wherever you can, and even more Fortified Bunkers and Barricades. Moreover, once you have a stable economy, you will want to upgrade your main HQ and build an Air Pad; Hornets become a near-necessity for those pesky enemies that either attempt to destroy the bunkers/barricades or the Aerial Units that tend to make a beeline towards the Terminus.

All in all, be sure to pay attention to the path each wave's enemies will take. With plenty of Anti-Air Turrets, Marines camping out in Fortified Bunkers, and a sizable army of Hornets, you should have an easy time reaching and defeating wave 15 without the Terminus ever having taken damage. Remember, though, if you hear or see the warning that the Terminus is under attack or taking damage, quit out of the game and try again because continuing on for another fifteen waves will be fruitless.

Walled In5
Have a wall built on every plot of the map at the same time (Terminus Firefight)

This achievement can be done in a Solo Firefight match or an online game with other players, although it's easiest when playing with 1-2 other players.

While playing Terminus Firefight, you should notice several plots of land around the map: long, rectangular plots around the perimeter of the map for Barricades, and medium-sized square-shaped plots around the perimeter of the map for mini-bases. Once you have a steady flow of resources coming in from your Supply Pads and Generators, as well as a sizable army to defend the Terminus, begin coordinating with your teammates to move around the map in an effort to build.

You can choose to tackle these achievements in one of two ways, though the second method may prove to be more efficient:

  1. Have your teammate(s) use their army to defend the Terminus while you set off with your own medium-sized, mixed squad of Aerial, Infantry, and Vehicular Units. Move around the entirety of the map, stopping at each Barricade plot and mini-base plot to build. While building, stay put to see construction through, and then reinforce the Barricades/bases with upgrades.
  2. Each player should focus on expanding their "territory" around the map with their own armies and resources, making sure to leave at least half of their Units at the Terminus in case the enemy pushes through fortified lines.

Once every mini-base plot has been built upon at the same time, "Outflood the Flood" will unlock. Conversely, once every Barricade plot has been built upon at the same time, "Walled In" will unlock.

Survivor5
Finish wave 5 without training additional units (Terminus Firefight)

This achievement can be done in a Solo Firefight match or an online game with other players.

Whether you are attempting this achievement in your own solo match or with other players, simply refrain from deploying any additional units (Infantry, Air, Vehicle) onto the battlefield. If playing on Easy, this achievement shouldn't be too bad. As soon as the match starts, focus on building a healthy mix of Supple Pads and Generators on your main HQ and the two nearby mini-bases. This will allow you to have enough resources to begin building Turrets on your bases.

Because the waves in Firefight are randomized, you'll have to adapt to whichever "boss" you encounter on Wave 5 (sometimes it can be a single Scarab, other times a trio of Spartans). All in all, make use of the Infantry Units you are given when the match starts, and build as many Turrets as possible to help lay waste to the enemies for the first five waves.

Once Wave 6 starts, provided you didn't train/call in any additional units, this achievement will unlock.

Terminus MVPs10
Get an total score of 5,000,000 (Terminus Firefight)

This achievement can be done in a Solo Firefight match or an online game with other players.

Amassing a score of 5,000,000 points may seem daunting, but once you clear the first Boss wave (wave 5), be it alone or with other players, you should have little trouble steadily collecting resources and building a strong army to fend off against the Flood. The basics of Terminus Firefight apply here: wipe out the enemy forces and complete each wave without too many friendly causalities. Additionally, you and your teammates should focus on capturing some of the mini-bases around the perimeter of the map because the more mini-bases you hold and the quicker you finish each wave, the greater the score multiplier will be.

As for scenario planning and/or strategies, there is no one way to play. That begin said, however, it's entirely recommended to focus on stockpiling resources (via Supply Pads/Harvesters and Generators/Power Extractors) for the first five waves and using only standard Infantry Units to defend the Terminus. Past wave 5, you should focus on stronger, more formidable units such as Hornets/Banshees, Scorpions/Wraiths, and Hero Units. When resources allow, upgrade your main HQ to unlock next-tier upgrades and then work on unlocking those upgrades. The stronger your units, the easier it is to defend the objective.

If playing with others, each pathway that leads to the Terminus can be covered by a single player; if playing solo, however, you will have to be quick to cover both chokepoints with your army. Finally, as a few extra tips, be sure to keep these strategies in mind:

  • Build Barricades! Fences and Shield Barriers are a big help in delaying the enemy from reaching the Terminus. Don't forget you can upgrade Barricades twice, depending on the type. If you are playing as a UNSC leader, Reinforced Bunkers are very helpful since Marines can be position inside.
  • Venture into the unknown and secure at least one mini-base per side of the map. Once the mini-base is secured, you can build several Turrets. These bases will act as a "first line of defense" when the enemy spawns into the map, allowing you time to either move your Units towards their position, or build/upgrade back at the main HQ.
  • Aerial Units. Build them. Upgrade them. They are extremely agile, cost effective, and deal a great amount of damage when upgraded.

With a strong defense holding down the Terminus, you should be able to reach the required score by wave 45-50 if playing alone, or wave 25-30 if playing cooperatively. Either way, while working on these score-based achievements, you will unlock "Garrison," "Barricade," and "Fortress" for completing waves 10, 20, and 30, respectively.

Once you have reached an individual score of 500,000, "Terminus Tactician" will unlock. "Terminus Teamwork" and "Terminus MVPs" will not unlock until after the match has ended, whether that be via mission failure (the Terminus being destroyed) or completing wave 100 (which is the final wave).

NOTE: If you are playing alone, make sure to change the difficulty to Easy (you cannot change the difficulty when playing cooperatively).
