Useful Links:
For those who might not be aware, there is a Phantom Dust fan site known as Phantom Dusted. Phantom Dusted is a great resource for all things Phantom Dust. Since a significant amount of people are playing Phantom Dust for the first time via this Xbox One and Windows 10 rerelease, I think it’s a great idea to check out some of the strategy guides available on Phantom Dusted if you need help understanding the basic mechanics, if you want some build ideas for your arsenals, or if you want to read up on general strategies for the game.

Introduction:
Phantom Dust is a third person action/strategy/fighting game directed by Yukio Futatsugi that was released for the original Xbox in 2004, and has since been rereleased on Xbox One and Windows 10 for free. It features a strong 15-20 hour singleplayer campaign in addition to a robust multiplayer that’s easy to grasp but has an incredibly high skill ceiling. In between battles you can reorganize your arsenal (sort of like a loadout in a shooter) and change up the skills that you have acquired over the course of the game.

Step 1: Complete Scenario Mode
It is highly recommended that you begin Phantom Dust’s singleplayer Scenario Mode before you dip your toes into multiplayer, especially if you are a new player. Scenario Mode is chock full of great tutorials that will ease you into the basics of Phantom Dust. All of the skills and credits that you earn in Scenario Mode will transfer over to the multiplayer portion of the game.

During this step, you should unlock these achievements in this approximate order:

  • You did this to yourself
  • Surface survivor
  • Unheeded warning
  • Deadeye
  • Dabbler
  • …a fleeting memory
  • Abundance of Memory
  • I dub thee…
  • The way I like to play
  • An unobstructed view
  • Carcino
  • Watch your step!
  • Enraged
  • Overkill
  • Cast out of the Skies
  • Thalasso
  • I like to gamble
  • Aspiring gourmet
  • Assembly is half the fun
  • 3 times the amazing
  • Seeing triple
  • Case diversity
  • …and the heavens shook
  • Does a god need faith?
  • Fates decided
  • Keys to the past
  • Scholar

Step 2: Scenario Mode Clean-Up
After you finish Scenario Mode, go back and unlock any singleplayer achievements you may have missed, such as completing certain boss battles without retrying or completing a mission with only one hit point remaining.

Once you have those achievements unlocked, exit back to the main menu. Create a new player and clear Chapter 1 of Scenario Mode in 30 minutes or less for the Have I done this before?achievement. If you take over 30 minutes, you can just create another new player and try again.

Step 3: Multiplayer
Now that you've finished Scenario Mode, you're ready to jump into the multiplayer portion of Phantom Dust.

The only achievements that must be done over Xbox Live matches are the following:

  • Sole Survivor
  • Synergy
  • They would only hold me back
  • You ain’t done yet

It is possible to obtain all of the other multiplayer achievements in a local split-screen match if you have a second controller.

Conclusion:
And with that, you should now have the 1000 in Phantom Dust. Congratulations! Hopefully this guide was of use to you. If you are still missing any achievements, refer to the achievement guide below for assistance and feel free to ask me any questions if something needs further clarification.

[XBA would like to thank LickableLemons7 for this Roadmap]

Dabbler15
Used at least one skill from each school

There are five different skill schools in Phantom Dust:

  • Psycho
  • Optical
  • Nature
  • Ki
  • Faith

This is a story-related achievement that cannot be missed and unlocks during Chapter 2 of Scenario Mode.

The way I like to play5
Built your first custom arsenal

Once you reach the start of Chapter 3 in Scenario Mode, you’ll receive a two-school arsenal of your own and you’ll have to go through a tutorial on arsenal building. Once that’s over with, head over to the Lab and interact with the Arsenal Analysis Terminal to customize your arsenal. Select skills of your choice. Once you’ve finished picking the skills you want, exit out of the Arsenal Analysis Terminal and the achievement will unlock.

Deadeye20
Won a mission without missing a single attack skill

This is a story-related achievement that cannot be missed.

Later on in Chapter 2, talk to Tetsuya and begin the mission “Continue: Erase Skills.” For this mission, you are only given defense and erase skills, and no attack skills. Simply defend yourself from Vestio’s attacks until Sammah defeats Vestio.

Keys to the past25
Unlocked all the memory boxes

There are 164 memory boxes in Phantom Dust. You’ll earn every memory box as long as you complete all 114 missions in the game.

In Visions HQ, go to the Memory Box Terminal and select the memory box option. You can see how many memory boxes you have as well as how many memory boxes you haven’t read yet.

If you’re short of 164 memory boxes, then chances are that you may have missed a mission as you made your way to the end of the game. If that’s the case, then don’t worry, as you can go to the Memory Box Terminal in Visions HQ and select the simulator option. Go through the list of stages to see which missions you’ve missed, then play those missions from the simulator. Once you’ve completed all 114 missions in the game you should have all 164 memory boxes.

Don’t forget to read all 164 memory boxes for the “Scholar” achievement.

Hard-earned victory15
Completed a mission with 1 hitpoint remaining

You can obtain this achievement in the very first mission of the game, “To the Surface.” You’ll have to fight a lone Ommato in this mission. The Ommato has 10 health. Use your Bullet of Fire skill to take the Ommato’s health down to 2. From here, allow the Ommato to hit you once if it hasn’t already hit you. By now, your health should be at 19.

In the middle of this map is a large tree, and there’s a hole at the base of the tree. Jump down this hole and through the bottom of the map to lose 3 HP. You’ll have to jump down the hole a total of 6 times to get your health down to 1. Use Bullet of Fire one last time on the Ommato to defeat it and complete the mission.

If you weren’t able to unlock the achievement, you can replay this mission at Visions HQ. Go up to the Memory Box Terminal and select simulator. From there, select Palace, then select the mission “To the Surface” to attempt this achievement again.

Case diversity15
Bought at least one of each arsenal case type

There are three types of arsenal cases in Phantom Dust:

  • Single-school arsenal (10,000 credits)
  • Two-school arsenal (5,000 credits)
  • Three-school arsenal (10,000 credits)

You are given a two-school arsenal at the beginning of Chapter 3 in Scenario Mode. Three-school arsenals can be purchased from Mac’s Shop once you get to Chapter 6, and single-school arsenals can be purchased from Mac’s Shop by the time you reach Chapter 7.

Three-school arsenals have the slowest aura recovery speed, but with three-school arsenals you have access to a wider variety of skills. Aura recovery speed is fastest with single-school arsenals, but you are limited to one skill school.

You did this to yourself10
Completed the "Fire of Gehenna" mission without taking damage   (1)

“Fire of Gehenna” is the fifth mission of the game. You have access to the following skills:

  • Flash Barrier
  • Bullet of Fire
  • Wall
  • Wall of Fire
  • About Face
  • Psycho Spear

The Vestio enemy will use the Fire of Gehenna skill, which damages the user by 2 HP every time they use Fire of Gehenna. Use your defense skills like Flash Barrier and About Face to block and reflect the Vestio’s attacks. If the Vestio ever breaks your defense, attack the Vestio right away by using Bullet of Fire or Psycho Spear.

If you take damage, you can replay the mission by going to the Memory Box Terminal in Visions HQ. Use the Memory Box Terminal and select simulator, then Highway. Choose the “Fire of Gehenna” mission and try again.

Unheeded warning20
Took less than 5 points of damage when first meeting Freia   (1)

This achievement is obtained during the tenth mission, “Qualification Exams.” After completing the ninth mission, “Rescue a Scout,” talk to Meister and then talk to Tetsuya to begin “Qualification Exams.”

For this mission, you will have access to the following skills:

  • About Face
  • Splashdown
  • Wall of Fire
  • Blaster

Continue to pick up capsules by your spawn point and avoid Freia’s mid-range attacks by hiding behind the tree in the center of the stage. Once you have captured the Splashdown skill and at least two defenses, run up to Freia's spawn point. Try to hit her with Splashdown. After this, she should teleport down to where you spawned. Rush over to your spawn and pick up the Blaster skill. If she teleports again, hide behind the tree once more, then keep hitting her with Blaster whenever you have the chance. Once Freia’s health drops below 10, the mission will end.

If you took more than 5 points of damage during the mission, go to Visions HQ and use the Memory Box Terminal. Select simulator, then Palace. Choose the “Qualification Exam” mission and keep retrying the mission until you can complete it and take less than 5 points of damage.

Have I done this before?15
Reached Chapter 2 in less than 30 minutes

You most likely won’t be able to earn this achievement during your first playthrough, so don’t worry about this until later.

After you get to Chapter 2 for the first time, or after you finish the entire game, create a new player from the main menu and make an attempt to finish Chapter 1 in under 30 minutes.

Once the game begins, talk to Edgar until you can leave the Clinic. After you select your name, head over up to the Battle Terminal and talk to Meister. Then talk to Tetsuya.

Here is a list of the missions in Chapter 1, along with the NPCs that you must talk to in order to begin each mission:

  • To the Surface (talk to Tetsuya at the Battle Terminal)
  • Watchful Eye (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Qualification Screening (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Counter Attack (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Fire of Gehenna (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Close-Proximity Attack Battles (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Patrol Cooperation (talk to Chunky on the Main Floor)
  • Defeat One by One (talk to pH at the Bar in the Atrium)
  • Rescue a Scout (talk to Cuff Button at the Battle Terminal)
  • Qualification Exams (talk to Meister, then talk to Tetsuya)

As long as you skip cutscenes and mash to skip through dialogue, you should be able to finish Chapter 1 in less than 20 minutes on a second attempt. If you were still over 30 minutes, return to the main menu, create a new player, then try again.

Abundance of Memory10
Defeated The Abundance of Memory

This is a story-related achievement that cannot be missed and unlocks upon completing Chapter 2.

Here is a list of the missions in Chapter 2, along with the NPCs that you must talk to in order to begin each mission:

  • Collecting Battle Data (talk to Ubiquitus in the Lab, then talk to Edgar)
  • Float (talk to Ubiquitus)
  • Status Skills (talk to Ubiquitus)
  • Continue: Status Skills (talk to Tetsuya)
  • New Skill Research (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Defense is the Key (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Powers that Erase (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Registration List (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Continue: Erase Skills (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Come Hither Strong One (talk to Know at the Main Terminal)
  • Recipe For Recovery (talk to Mikan in the Clinic area at the bottom level of the Atrium)
  • Abundance of Memory (talk to Tetsuya)

See the “…a fleeting memory” achievement below for additional info regarding the boss battle in the "Abundance of Memory" mission.

…a fleeting memory10
Defeated The Abundance of Memory without retrying   (3)

The boss (Peccato) moves around the entire Highway stage in a circle. For the most part, I kept my distance from Peccato and used Laser to slowly chip away at its side eyes until its top eye was exposed. From there, I tried to stay within mid-range and I used Bomb to take out the top eye. When Peccato is at a long-range distance, it tends to use Photon Shower to attack, so all you have to do is continue running in one direction until Photon Shower stops. Use Laser Shell to defend yourself from Peccato’s other attacks.

If you die during the mission, you can interact with the Memory Box Terminal in Visions HQ and revisit the mission later on. Select scenario, then choose Highway. Pick the “Abundance of Memory” mission and replay the mission without dying or retrying to unlock this achievement.

Carcino20
Defeated Carcino

This is a story-related achievement that cannot be missed and unlocks upon completing Chapter 3.

Here is a list of the missions in Chapter 3, along with the NPCs that you must talk to in order to begin each mission:

  • Arsenal (talk to Ubiquitous and Meister in the Lab, then talk to Tetsuya)
  • Emergency Signal (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Red-Haired Woman (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Stray Eyes (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Patrol the Highway (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Distorted Sky (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Paralyze (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Delicious Recipe (talk to pH)
  • Guard (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Search Team Exam (talk to Meister)
  • Final Selection (talk to Meister)
  • Legendary Man (talk to Tetsuya)
  • The Gyne Sisters (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Sleep Land Ai Saw (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Sky-Colored Paints (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Education for the Gifted (talk to Know)
  • Share Life (talk to Cuff Button)
  • A Warm Dish (talk to pH)
  • Edgar's Memory (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Important Item Location (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Order: Search for Edgar (talk to Spokesman in Visions HQ)

See the “An unobstructed view” achievement below for additional info regarding the boss battle in the "Order: Search for Edgar" mission.

An unobstructed view20
Defeated Carcino without retrying   (1)

Don’t bother bringing any short-range attacks to this fight. Stick to mid-range attacks like Rock Shot, Bomb, and Psycho Spear. I almost exclusively used Rock Shot to attack Carcino. Bring some defenses like Laser Shell and Auto Shell to protect yourself from Carcino’s egg bombs and lasers. You can also bring Bullet of Fire or Blaster and use those attacks to destroy the egg bombs.

Use Rock Shot to attack Carcino’s eye when it’s open. Continue to defend yourself and keep firing Rock Shot at Carcino’s eye until it goes down.

If you die during the mission, you can interact with the Memory Box Terminal in Visions HQ and revisit the mission later on. Select scenario, then choose Panorama. Pick the “Order: Search for Edgar” mission and replay the mission without dying or retrying to unlock this achievement.

Enraged40
Defeated enraged Edgar

This is a story-related achievement that cannot be missed and unlocks upon completing Chapter 4.

Here is a list of the missions in Chapter 4, along with the NPCs that you must talk to in order to begin each mission:

  • New Territory (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Solid Wall (talk to Meister)
  • Compressor (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Red Rose of Passion (talk to pH)
  • Message in a Bottle (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Scraps of Memory (talk to Tetsuya)
  • The Gyne Sisters Return (talk to Tetsuya)
  • To Those That Pass (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Massacre in the Dark (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Wish Obstructed (talk to Know)
  • Unusual Moves (talk to Know)
  • Secret Business (talk to Chunky)
  • Big Claustro Fall (talk to Chunky)
  • Red Head (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Ghost Sightings (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Secret Cargo Route (talk to Chunky)
  • Medication (talk to Mikan)
  • May Day (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Mac's Arsenal (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Finding the Refinery (talk to Kajikawa in Visions HQ)
  • Pursuit of Edgar (talk to Tetsuya)

See the “Watch your step!” achievement below for additional info regarding the boss battle in the "Pursuit of Edgar" mission.

Watch your step!20
Defeated Edgar without retrying

I stuck to mid-range attacks during this fight and fired away at Edgar with Rock Shot and Psycho Spear. Edgar mainly uses the Snap skill which can knock you down but doesn’t do any damage. If you're not careful, Snap can push you off of the Refinery, so don't forget to utilize your defenses when you can.

If you die during the mission, you can interact with the Memory Box Terminal in Visions HQ and revisit the mission later on. Select scenario, then choose Refinery. Pick the “Pursuit of Edgar” mission and replay the mission without dying or retrying to unlock this achievement.

Thalasso60
Defeated Thalasso

This is a story-related achievement that cannot be missed and unlocks upon completing Chapter 5.

Here is a list of the missions in Chapter 5, along with the NPCs that you must talk to in order to begin each mission:

  • Doubt (talk to Meister)
  • Crystallization (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Judge of Anubis (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Young Writer (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Single Death Shot (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Place of Death (talk to Mikan)
  • Secret Meeting (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Melee Palace (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Patrol Panorama (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Internal Peace (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Old Battlefield (talk to Tetsuya)
  • A Crime Beyond Man (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Wall of Limit (talk to Tetsuya)
  • A Question of Destiny (talk to Tsubutaki)
  • Angel in White (talk to Reindeer, near the Clinic)
  • Rescue Friends (talk to Meister, then talk to Tetsuya)

See the “Cast out of the skies” achievement below for additional info regarding the boss battle in the "Rescue Friends" mission.

Cast out of the skies20
Defeated Thalasso without retrying   (1)

Short-range attacks will be of no use during this mission. Thalasso circles around the Refinery stage, then sticks its eye out when it’s near the helicopter. Hit Thalasso’s eye with a skill like Rock Shot, then run behind Thalasso to avoid the attack it does right after you hit its eye. Immediately run to the bottom of the stairs close to where you spawned to avoid Thalasso’s Blaster attack. Continue to hit its eye when it approaches the helicopter until it goes down.

If you die during the mission, you can interact with the Memory Box Terminal in Visions HQ and revisit the mission later on. Select scenario, then choose Refinery. Pick the “Rescue Friends” mission and replay the mission without dying or retrying to unlock this achievement.

Seeing triple80
Defeated Freia

This is a story-related achievement that cannot be missed and unlocks upon completing Chapter 6.

Here is a list of the missions in Chapter 6, along with the NPCs that you must talk to in order to begin each mission:

  • Invisible Trap (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Mikan and the Red Head (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Caution: Do Not Overuse (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Enthusiast (talk to pH)
  • An Ommato Outbreak (talk to Tetsuya)
  • A Secret Thought (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Desire to Meet (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Environmental: Finalized (talk to Ubiquitous, then JD)

  • Concerns of the Elite (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Omen of Change (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Gaze of Interest (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Overflowing Tab (talk to Tetsuya)
  • To the City of Memory (talk to Tsubutaki)

See the “3 times the amazing” achievement below for additional info regarding the boss battle in the "To the City of Memory" mission.

3 times the amazing20
Defeated Freia without retrying   (1)

This can be one of the trickier battles in the game. Initially, you’ll have to fight a Mechano in the City with Tsubutaki. She does most of the heavy hitting and can even take out Mechano on her own without your help, but after you defeat Mechano, Freia appears and teleports you away to a new stage called Lane.

I relied on a few Heats and Tiger’s Strength to up my attack power. I mostly attacked the Freias with Psycho Blade and Photon Burst up close. Try to sit around where each Freia spawns and hit them with short-range attacks until you defeat all three of them. Vibration Blaster is a good back-up skill to bring if you're more comfortable with fighting the Freias at mid-range.

If you die during the mission, you can interact with the Memory Box Terminal in Visions HQ and revisit the mission later on. Select scenario, then choose Strange City. Pick the “To the City of Memory” mission and replay the mission without dying or retrying to unlock this achievement.

Does a god need faith?150
Completed the campaign.

This is a story-related achievement that cannot be missed and unlocks upon completing Chapter 7.

Here is a list of the missions in Chapter 7, along with the NPCs that you must talk to in order to begin each mission:

  • Price of Admiration (talk to Tetsuya)
  • A Single Mistake (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Skill Controversy (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Writer Again (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Reeducation of Know (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Crawling Past (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Reoccuring Nightmare (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Gaze Phobia (talk to Tetsuya)
  • j8$3#%o~De* (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Vibration Blaster (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Memory Wedge (talk to Tsubutaki)
  • And Now to the Future (talk to Arthur)

See the “…and the heavens shook” achievement below for additional info regarding the boss battle in the "And Now to the Future" mission.

Sole Survivor15
Won a game of Battle Royale

Battle Royal is a game type where two to four players are pitted against each other. You must be the last player standing in order to win the match.

Champion15
Won a match of One on One

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

One on One is a head to head game type where you have to defeat your opponent first in order to win the match. Once you’ve won a match of One on One, the achievement unlocks.

Synergy15
Won a match of Tag Team with a friend.   (1)

The achievement description for this one is slightly misleading in that you don’t need to win a match of Tag Team with someone on your Xbox Live friends list. You can unlock this achievement by playing Tag Team with a random player that isn’t on your friends list.

Tag Team is a game type where four players are split up into two opposing teams. Your team must take down the enemy team in order to win the match. You must win a match of Tag Team with your partner still standing in order to unlock the achievement. If your partner was downed and you didn’t revive your partner by the end of the match, you will not unlock this achievement.

They would only hold me back15
Won a match of Tag Team when you were the only one alive on your team

When playing Tag Team, do not revive your partner if they go down during a match. Do your best to go on and win the match without your partner.

On-point reactions10
Successfully used defenses against at least 5 incoming attacks in one match

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

Simply block an enemy attack by using a defense skill (such as Wall or Reverse) five times in a single match.

You ain't done yet25
Revived (or was revived) twice during a single Tag Team match   (1)

In order to revive your partner during a match of Tag Team, you must run up to their fallen body then assign your partner to one of the face buttons (, , , or ) just like you would with one of the capsules by your spawn point. Press whichever button you assigned your partner to in order to revive them and bring them back into the match. You must to this twice (or your partner must revive you twice) during one match of Tag Team.

Only a dream can kill a dream10
Won a match while playing as a monster

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

When selecting your character before a multiplayer match, press to switch to monster selection. Pick a monster, then go on to win the match in order to unlock the achievement.

Aspiring gourmet10
Collected all the cooking recipes (Memory boxes 139, 140, 141)

You can obtain these memory boxes by completing the following missions:

  • Delicious Recipe (talk to pH in the Bar during Chapter 3)
  • A Warm Dish (talk to pH in the Bar again later on in Chapter 3)
  • Enthusiast (talk to pH in the Bar during Chapter 6)

If you miss out on these missions or forget to talk to pH, you can go to the Memory Box Terminal in Visions HQ and play these missions through the simulator. All of these missions can be found under the Highway stage.

Fates decided50
Completed all the post-finale missions

After beating the campaign and unlocking the achievement “Does a god need faith?,” there will be a total of eight new missions for you to complete.

  • Elite Disappearance (talk to Tetsuya)
  • An Odd Friendship (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Solitary Battle (talk to Tetsuya)
  • Survivor (talk to Tsubutaki)
  • Confidential: Cuff Button (talk to Cuff Button)
  • Breaking with the Past (talk to JD)
  • Angry Counter Attack (talk to Sammah)
  • Meister (talk to Meister)

The achievement will unlock after completing these final eight missions.

Scholar20
Read every memory box

Refer to the “Keys to the past” achievement above.

Overkill10
Did more than 20 damage to an enemy with one attack   (2)

I was able to earn this achievement in Scenario Mode during the Judge of Anubis mission. You'll come across this mission by talking to Tetsuya earlier on in Chapter 5. You can also replay this mission in Visions HQ. Interact with the Memory Box Terminal in Visions HQ, select scenario, then choose the Panorama stage. Pick the “Judge of Anubis” mission.

You must use the Judge of Anubis skill during the battle with Guard. Put it in one of your arsenals before you begin the mission. The strength of Judge of Anubis varies depending on your health as well as your opponent’s health. Subtract your health from your target’s health, then multiply the difference by two. For example, if Guard takes your health down to 5, while you haven’t touched Guard and its health remains at 20, then Judge of Anubis will do 30 damage (20 – 5 = 15, 15 * 2 = 30). You have to be a little careful and remember that you will lose three health every time you use Judge of Anubis. If you are left with three health remaining and you don’t have any way to heal yourself, retry the mission.

Arsenal burner10
Picked up at least 26 capsules in a single match

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

Once you begin a multiplayer match, stay close to your starting area and continue to capture every capsule as they appear until you exhaust all of your capsules.

Assembly is half the fun15
Spent 30 minutes (cumulative) in the arsenal editor

You can earn this achievement in Scenario Mode by heading over to the Lab and interacting with the Arsenal Analysis Terminal after completing the arsenal tutorial at the beginning of Chapter 3. You’ll be visiting the Arsenal Analysis Terminal numerous times throughout Scenario Mode as you edit your arsenals and reorganize your skills. You could sit here idly for 30 minutes and wait for the achievement to unlock, but it’s likely that you will earn this achievement through natural progression in Scenario Mode anyway.

Channeling your Ki20
Won a match with a single-school Ki arsenal

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

See “Green is the color of victory” below for more information.

I can see further20
Won a match with a single-school Optical arsenal

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

See “Green is the color of victory” below for more information.

One of the Faithful20
Won a match with a single-school Faith arsenal

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

See “Green is the color of victory” below for more information.

Psychotic tendencies20
Won a match with a single-school Psycho arsenal

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

See “Green is the color of victory” below for more information.

Green is the color of victory20
Won a match with a single-school Nature arsenal

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

You must use a single-school arsenal for this achievement. Single-school arsenals can be purchased from Mac’s Shop in Scenario Mode for a total of 10,000 credits once you have reached Chapter 7.

After you have acquired a single-school arsenal, fill it with offensive and defensive skills from only one school (such as Bullet of Fire, Vacuum Slash, and Glacial Wall for a Nature arsenal, or Rock Shot, Psycho Knife, and Psycho Shell for a Psycho arsenal). Enter a match online and do your best to win.

If you have a second controller you can earn the single-school arsenal achievements offline during a split-screen match. Adjust your arsenal as required, then play a match of battle royale with the single school game rule. Play on a map such as highway, city, or refinery and make the second player repeatedly fall off of the map until you win. Repeat for the other single-school arsenal achievements.

Surface survivor20
Spent more than 15 minutes playing Phantom Dust missions

This is a story-related achievement that cannot be missed. Continue playing Scenario Mode. While you are on the surface doing missions, the progress on the achievement tracker will move up. This will be one of the first achievements you unlock in the game’s Scenario Mode.

Seasoned combatant25
Played on every multiplayer map at least once

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

Begin a multiplayer match either locally or over Xbox Live. As soon as you start a match on a map you haven’t played before, the achievement tracker will move up. You don't have to play a match to completion in order for the map to count.

There are 17 multiplayer maps:

  • Lost Palace
  • Light Palace
  • Noble Palace
  • Spiral Highway
  • Lightning Highway

Three times the fun10
Won a match with a three-school arsenal

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

You can purchase a three-school arsenal from the Shop on Xbox Live for 10,000 credits, if you haven’t already bought a three-school arsenal from Mac’s Shop in Scenario Mode.

Once you have a three-school arsenal, go to the Lab on Xbox Live and organize the arsenal with some skills based on your personal preference. Go on and play a match over Live or split-screen. As long as you win the match while using a three-school arsenal, the achievement will unlock.

Created a custom name for an arsenal

In Scenario Mode, you will be able to create your own arsenal by the beginning of Chapter 3. Once you have your arsenal, head on over to the Lab and interact with the Arsenal Analysis Terminal. Select the edit arsenal option, then press to bring up the options menu. From here, you can change the name of your arsenal.

A Benefit or a Hazard15
Had a buff or debuff on yourself greater than +5 or -5 respectively in a single match

Note: This achievement can be acquired in an offline split-screen match, as long as you have a second controller.

There are a few ways of going about this achievement. I personally like to use a three-school skill arsenal with three Heat skills (status), one Tiger’s Strength (status), and one Lunar Force (environmental).

Popping three Heat skills will raise your attack up by +3. One Lunar Force will raise the attack of every player in the match by +1. Tiger’s Strength will raise your attack up by +2, but only for 15 seconds. With this, you can boost your attack up to +6 and unlock the achievement.

Cumulatively purchased 50 junk packs across campaign or multiplayer

By the time you reach Chapter 3 of Scenario Mode, you will gain access to Mac’s Shop in the Main Terminal area. Mac’s Shop can be found next to Know.

After you finish up with the arsenal tutorials, you can purchase junk from Mac. Purchasing a junk pack will grant you 5 random skills. Each junk pack costs 500 credits.

It’s best to buy junk packs as often as you can. Mac will restock on junk packs after every mission you complete. Continue to purchase junk packs from Mac until you earn the achievement.

Defeated Mimic, Edgar, Freia and Freia's final forms without retrying. Incredible!

This is the longest and perhaps the most challenging battle in the game.

I used a three-school skill arsenal with the following skills:

  • Psycho Blade
  • Rapid Cannon
  • Vibration Blaster
  • Rock Shot
  • Psychic Wall
  • Reverse
  • Wall (x2)
  • Acquisition (x2)
  • Heat (x3)
  • Healing Water (x2)
  • Level Amp
  • Level Boost

During the first phase of the battle, you’ll have to fight a doppelganger of yourself. I stuck to Rapid Canon while gathering aura particles in order to use Vibration Blaster. Use up your Heats and Acquisitions as soon as you can.

Once the Mimic is down, you’ll fight Edgar and Freia at the same time. Make your way to the bottom/middle area of the stage and stay under here. Get rid of Freia with Vibration Blaster first, then Edgar. Use Reverse if Edgar’s Ki skills get too close. Don’t allow Edgar to rush you and stay clear from his short-range attacks.

After Edgar is down, you’ll fight Demented Freia on a staircase. The staircase collapses as you move up. Skills spawn in as you make your way up the stairs, but skills that you didn’t capture will be gone for good. At this point, don’t bother grabbing any short-range attacks if you kept those in your arsenal. You must defeat this version of Freia before you run out of skills. Definitely take Vibration Blaster, as well as Reverse, Heats, and Acquisitions when you can.

She has three sections you have to target on the bottom, middle, and top. For Freia’s bottom section, wait for the eye to drop down in order to damage it. Her bottom eye can do an attack that will pick you up and drop you, so be ready to block with a defensive skill if you have one.

The middle eye has a cannon, but the cannon won’t fire until it’s pointed directly at you. Right before the cannon fires, the middle eye will open, so that’s your chance to attack. Jump right or left immediately after you attack the middle eye to avoid taking damage from the canon.

The top area of Freia shoots out mirrors, then fires lasers off of the mirrors. The lasers will home in on you, but you can avoid this attack easily enough by continuing to run up the staircase. Before Freia shoots the lasers, she’ll glow a red color. You must damage her at this moment.

Once you defeat Demented Freia, you’ll fight Final Freia. When Final Freia is getting ready to attack, glowing red circles will appear around her. Use that moment to attack Freia with Vibration Blaster, then be ready to defend with Reverse. Always keep running around the stage. Don’t allow Freia to fly directly above you. She can also do an attack that "poisons" you and does damage if you pick up a new skill or if you use one of your skills, so be careful.

If you die during the mission, you can interact with the Memory Box Terminal in Visions HQ and revisit the mission later on. Select scenario, then choose Sein. Pick the “And Now to the Future” mission and replay the mission without dying or retrying to unlock this achievement.
