Halo: Spartan Assault is set to receive some new DLC and support for wired Xbox 360 controllers on Windows 8 PCs and tablets, enabling you to finally be able to play the game and control your Spartan-IV with familiar sticks and buttons. Meanwhile, 343 Industries and Vanguard Games are also adding the ability to purchase power weapons previously only available via in-app using XP.

Launching alongside the update for Xbox 360 controllers is the Operation Hydra expansion, available from tomorrow (August 29th), adding five new missions and new achievements. Operation Hydra sees you rejoining Sarah Palmer as you intercept an alien signal on the moon of the destroyed planet Draetheus V.

You'll be able to grab the Operation Hydra DLC for Halo: Spartan Assault Operation Hydra DLC on August 29th as a free downloadable update. Also available on August 30th is a free demo version of Halo: Spartan Assault, which includes one mission and a gameplay tutorial to sample. Check out Operation Hydra screens below. There are eight in the gallery.
