Halo: Spartan Strike Announced for Windows 8, A Follow-Up to Spartan Assault

Microsoft has announced Halo: Spartan Assault follow-up, Halo: Spartan Strike, for Windows 8 tablets, smartphones and PCs, including a version for Steam. Like last year's Spartan Assault, Spartan Strike is another top-down twin-stick shooter affair, this time set during the events of Halo 2.

Promising improved controls, new enemies including the Prometheans, new abilities, new vehicles and more, Spartan Strike will feature 30 missions and Xbox Live Achievements (obviously). The Steam version will have its own Steam achievement list. There'll also be no micro-transactions in this one.

Vanguard Games is on development duties alongside 343 Industries, and although no version of Halo: Spartan Strike has been announced for Xbox One or Xbox 360, it'd make sense for the game to eventually launch on Microsoft's consoles as per Spartan Assault.

Halo: Spartan Strike will be available for Windows 8 mobile devices and PC on 12th December for $5.99. Before that, you'll be able to get some more Halo action on Xbox One, with the Halo: The Master Chief Collection available on 11th November.
