LEGO The Hobbit Won't Get Battle of the Five Armies DLC After All

Despite it seemingly being on the cards at some point, it looks like LEGO The Hobbit will actually remain unfinished, as the Battle of the Five Armies DLC will not be coming as originally planned. The game was based only on the first two movies, with the final movie being unreleased at the time of its release.

"The LEGO: The Hobbit video game gives LEGO and Middle-earth fans a fun, new way to experience the legendary adventures of Bilbo and company as told in the first two films of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy," Warner Bros. told GameSpot in a statement. "The game provides an excellent set-up for the concluding chapter of Peter Jackson's film, The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. There are no plans to develop DLC based on the final film of the trilogy."

Reports claimed that an expansion based on what at the time was named 'The Hobbit: There and Back Again', was coming to LEGO: The Hobbit as an add-on to conclude the story, but evidently that will no longer be the case. LEGO The Hobbit launched last April, and with The Battle of the Five Armies releasing in cinemas in December 2014, we should have probably guessed that the DLC had fallen by the wayside. Bah.
