It feels like only yesterday we were celebrating 10 years of Xbox and Halo, but today sees the platform and its biggest launch title celebrating its 15 year anniversary. It was on 15th November 2001 that the original Xbox first launched, with Halo: Combat Evolved among the platform's range of launch titles.

Xbox Marketing Director Aaron Greenberg declared that he'll be taking over the Xbox Snapchat account to celebrate the milestone, while Halo studio 343 Industries will be hosting a live stream at 3:43PM PT to commemorate the launch of Xbox and Master Chief's first outing 15 years ago.

The Xbox brand has gone from strength to strength over the years, following a somewhat shaky start, whereby the console business was losing Microsoft $5 billion during the early days of Xbox. Since then, the Xbox 360 proved a massive success upon its launch in 2005 and in 2013 the Xbox One released.

That too was a shaky launch following a fairly disastrous E3 reveal, but the console has gone on to be a success, with the Xbox One S rolling out earlier this year leading to it outselling PS4 in the US since July. Next up for Xbox will be Project Scorpio, billed as the most powerful console ever built, scheduled for holiday 2017.

Happy 15th birthday Xbox and happy birthday too to the Halo series!
