Rockstar Donating 5% of GTA: Online and Red Dead Online Revenue to COVID-19 Relief Efforts

Written By

Rockstar Games has announced that it is to donate a percentage from all sales in Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online to COVID-19 relief efforts during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement posted via Twitter, the studio said that they had seen local communities in both North America, the UK and beyond being deeply effected by the outbreak, and as a result are donating 5% of their revenue of all purchases made in their online games between the 1st of April until the end of May "to help local communities and business struggling with the impacts of COVID-19, both directly and by supporting some of the amazing organisations who are on the ground effected by this crisis." The announcement stops short of saying precisely which organisations will recieve the help, but promise to share more information "as things progress."

Red Dead Online is holding their 'Name Your Weapon' Showdown Series this week with some limited time clothing, and we're expecting Grand Theft Auto Online's weekly content update announcement to follow within the next day or so. Both games are available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
