Mojang Gets Rebrand & New Logo as Minecraft Celebrates 11 Years

Written By

Minecraft celebrated its 11th birthday yesterday, and to celebrate, developer Mojang announced a slight rebrand, as well as a new logo.

The Minecraft developer will now be known as Mojang Studios, to celebrate the fact that Mojang is now longer a single studio, but instead comprised of several studios around the world. In a blog post on the Minecraft website, the team outlined the thought process behind the new name and logo, as well as creating a small trailer to celebrate, which you can check out down below.

"As we celebrate Minecraft’s 11th birthday, we’re reminded that none of this would have been possible without you, our amazing community. When we talk about developing new games, and find (or invent!) entirely new avenues for creativity, know that Minecraft and its community will always be at the center of our universe.

"How could it not? Just consider this: a programmer who recently joined Mojang Studios learned to code using Minecraft, and is now helping us inspire a new generation of players, creators, and developers."

Minecraft is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
