Call of Duty: Warzone & Modern Warfare Season Four Delayed

Written By

Season Four of Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been delayed as a show of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter protests taking place across American and the world.

The new season was originally meant to kick off on the 3rd June 2020, but has now been pushed back to an unspecified date.

"While we all look forward to playing the new seasons of Modern Warfare, Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile, now is not the time. We are moving the launches of Modern Warfare Season 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 to later dates."

"Right now it's time for those speaking up for equality, justice and change to be seen and heard. We stand alongside you."

The mass protests were triggered by the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who was killed by a police officer while in custody in Minneapolis. Floyd joined a long list of black Americans who unjustly lost their lives at the hands of law enforcement in the USA as a result of police brutality, and years of anger at systemic injustice finally overflowed with protests now taking place all across the United States.

This sees Activision join other video game companies in showing support as the unrest continues into the week. Yesterday, Sony also cancelled its PlayStation 5 reveal event, originally due to take place on Thursday. We'll report once new dates for Season Four of Call of Duty are confirmed.
