EA Wants to Double Down on Star Wars Partnership

Written By

EA CEO Andrew Wilson announced that the publisher wants to "double down" on its partnership with Disney and the Star Wars license.

Wilson made these statements in an investor call earlier this week, as reported by VGC. Following EA's recent success with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the Battlefront series, he was asked where EA would like to take the Star Wars franchise in the future.

"Up is my hope - up and to the right! I would say again, we have a tremendous relationship with Disney, we have a tremendous relationship with Lucasarts," stated Wilson in response. "We have a long-standing relationship with them going all the way back to Star Wars: The Old Republic, which we launched in 2011."

"We’ve had success in first-person shooters, in RPGs, in action-adventure, in MMORPGs, in mobile and I believe we’re going to have success in Squadrons as well. So again, I think that we’re going to double down on that partnership. Disney continues to be very, very committed to the IP and the canon, and continue to create new content."

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order exceeded EA's sales expectations, and the publisher recently announced Star Wars: Squadrons, another single-player experience that despite having a multiplayer component, won't be a live-service game or contain microtransactions.

What future Star Wars games would you like to see from EA in the future? Let us know down in the comments.
