Xbox Considering Warner Bros. Games Acquisition - Report

Written By

Microsoft are considering an acquisition of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, also known as WB Games, according to a report from TheInformation.

Rumours have been circulating for a couple of weeks now that Warner Bros. parent company AT&T has considered putting WB Games up for sale as a way to balance the books, and with a wealth of game development talent on offer, publishers such as Microsoft, Activision, EA and Take-Two have begun circling in the waters.

Microsoft's interest is particularly...well, interesting, since the Xbox company would be able to add some real pedigree to its first party studios. WB Games owns Batman: Arkham developer Rocksteady, Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm, LEGO studio TT Games and more, and to be able to bring them into the Xbox Game Studios umbrella would be a huge move for Microsoft going into the next generation.

WB Games is rumoured to be working on a number of titles, including a Suicide Squad game, Gotham Knights and a AAA Harry Potter RPG.

We'll have to wait and see if a sale eventually goes through, but it would be a huge coup for Microsoft and the Xbox Series X if this were to become a reality.
