Konami & PES Lose Inter Milan and AC Milan Licenses

Written By

Konami has announced that its licensing contracts with Italian football teams Inter Milan and AC Milan aren't being renewed.

The Japanese publisher has confirmed that this expiry won't affect the current game eFootball PES 2020, with myClub players from both clubs able to still be used as normal in-game.

"In regards to other Konami football games, please wait for future announcements for each title. AC Milan have been a strong advocate for the eFootball PES series we wish the club all the best in the future," the Konami statement explained

"Moving forwards, we will continue to strengthen existing partnerships and foster new relationships in order to provide the best possible eFootball experience. Thank you again for your support and understanding."

While PES has always struggled against FIFA with licenses, especially with the Premier League, Inter Milan and AC Milan have been included in their official glory for quite a few years now, so this loss is a little surprising. We'll have to see what new licenses Konami is able to pull in for PES 2021, which is yet to be officially revealed, but for the time being it seems the Milan teams will have to be included under fake names.

eFootball PES 2020 is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
