Codemasters has unveiled and detailed the various modes you'll find in DiRT 5 when it launches this October, including the return of Landrush, Rally Raid, and Stampede. Apparently, this iteration of DiRT will feature the most diverse selection of vehicles to date, as well as more game modes than ever before.

Landrush is a circuit-based, pack race mode with rough terrain and "jolting jumps", as well as technical challenges; while Rally Raid offers extreme off-road racing in point-to-point challenges with split routes and opportunities to catch "some serious air". Short, icy circuits form the basis for Ice Breaker mode; and Stampede is for rough-and-ready vehicles, across unmarked track layouts over huge undulations on mud and sand surfaces.

Path Finder mode is new to DiRT 5 and demands controlled speed and strategy on "hardcore" off-road terrain boasting steep jumps and routes strewn with rocks. Sprint puts you behind the wheel of crazy 900bhp vehicles with huge wings and four different sized wheels, while oval and circular tracks feature only left turns to drift around. Ultra Cross is all about taking on varied terrain and unpredictable circuits, and Gymkhana will be making a comeback.

As in previous DiRT games, Gymkhana is all about style, as you pull off drifts, jumps and donuts around barrels, tyre stacks, and cones in purpose-built stunt arenas within the allotted time limit. Offering 13 classes of vehicle and a wealth of modes, DiRT 5 promises something for race fans of all kinds when it releases, with front, rear, and 4WD cars, a comprehensive Career mode (featuring Troy Baker and Nolan North), and split-screen racing.

DiRT 5 launches for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on 9th October 2020, while access to the Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 versions later in the year will be offered as a free upgrade, via Smart Delivery on Xbox. Check out the new DiRT 5 modes trailer below to find out more.
