Othercide's New Gameplay Trailer Shows Off Tactical Timeline Combat

Written By

Focus Home Interactive has released a new gameplay overview trailer for the tactical combat game Othercide, showing off its unique Dynamic Timeline System.

On top of controlling what your units do, and where they move, you can also manipulate exactly when you want things to happen. Each action you take can impact the timeline at the bottom of the screen, such as forcing enemies to delay their attacks or allowing allies to move sooner. This can be used to create combos, such as placing a delayed AOE attack with one unit, and then using another unit to push an enemy into the AOE attack at the right time.

This timeline means that it isn't simply a case of taking turns to take your moves, but understanding when each action will happen and combining them to deal huge damage in a short space of time. Each of your units, known as Daughters, will gain experience and unlock new skills in three possible classes. There appears to be a lot of depth to the combat, with every individual move able to be customised to match your playstyle.

It looks incredibly stylish, and the gameplay looks like an interesting take on the turn-based strategy genre. You can check it out in the new gameplay trailer below.

Othercide launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on 28th July 2020.
