Ubisoft Exec Tommy François Departs The Company

Written By

Ubisoft executive Tommy François has left the company following allegations of abuse and harassment.

François, who held the position of VP for Editorial & Creative Services, was placed on disciplinary leave last month as Ubisoft faced accusations of toxic workplace culture, which also saw two key Ubisoft executives resign.

In a statement to gamesindustry.biz, Ubisoft said that Tommy François has "left the company, effective immediately."

Ubisoft has committed to a major internal restructure following the allegations, with Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot stating, "I am committed to implementing profound changes across the company to improve and strengthen our workplace culture."

"Moving forward, as we collectively embark on a path leading to a better Ubisoft, it is my expectation that leaders across the company manage their teams with the utmost respect. I also expect them to work to drive the change we need, always thinking of what is best for Ubisoft and all its employees."

A recent report also stated that the Assassin's Creed franchise saw the roles of many female characters cut significantly due to the belief that female protagonists do not sell. Ubisoft did not publicly address its internal issues during July's Ubisoft Forward , stating that this was due to the event being pre-recorded. In that case, we may hear more about how the French video game company is tackling these problems in the second Ubisoft Forward digital event airing this September.
