The Microsoft Store is due to receive a complete overhaul soon, and Xbox Insiders will be the first to try out the 'New Microsoft Store Experience', with a beta version due to roll out later this week. Apparently, the all-new Microsoft Store will not only be a visual revamp, but it'll also be faster and more streamlined.

"Far more than a typical app update, we’ve rebuilt the experience from the ground up to be faster, safer and easier to use than ever before. We’re obsessed with getting it right for customers, and we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on," Principal Program Manager Cody Bird writes on the Xbox Wire.

According to MS, the new Microsoft Store is "more than twice as fast as before," launching in less than two seconds, and the overall browsing performance and experience will be vastly improved. That means no more watching that annoying circular ticker thingy while you wait for pages to load. Huzzah!

What you're searching for will also be easier to find, while trailers will only autolplay if you turn the feature on and info will be displayed in an 'at a glance' fashion. "Our goal is to provide an inclusive and intuitive experience for everyone, and we’re committed to making it easier than ever to find your next favourite game, app, movie, or TV show," Bird adds. "This starts with a fully redesigned navigation system, allowing you to jump between shopping experiences in a snap or deep dive into something specific."

The search facility will better filter results, the shopping cart makes it easier to add items and continue browsing, and it'll also be much easier to shop across all four Xbox generations, from original Xbox titles to Xbox Series X games when they start to materialise later this year. Parental controls and other safety features will also be implemented, which is nice.

Xbox Insiders will be able to try out the New Microsoft Store Experience from 5th August, before it goes live for all users at a later date. Consider this an early glimpse of what the Xbox Series X interface might look like, too, when the console launches in holiday 2020.
