Remedy has confirmed that Control's AWE DLC will be launching for Xbox One later this month, bringing the second and final expansion to Control in time for the game's one-year anniversary. An acronym for 'Altered World Event', AWE sees Control crossing over into the world of Alan Wake.

As FBC Director Jesse Faden, you'll enter a cordoned-off Investigations Sector in pursuit of a mysterious being that's been stalking the abandoned area for years. Jesse will need to explore a number of AWEs while in the sector, including one from the small town of Bright Falls, as seen in the Alan Wake titles (don't forget American Nightmare).

Aiding Jesse in the mission will be her new Service Weapon known as Surge, a sticky grenade launcher able to deploy up to four explosive projectiles at a time that can be detonated remotely. These will prove integral when you come to fight the new flying Hiss Airborne Ranger, able to attack Jesse with its shotgun.

Meanwhile, interact with the new arcade machine Altered Item in the Investigations Sector hub, and you'll be able to replay four boss fights from Control's campaign, as long as you've already completed them. These include the Ashtray Maze. A new horde mode, bonus rewards including a new outfit for Jesse, and more, will also feature.

The AWE expansion will be available for Control on Xbox One, PS4, and PC from 27th August, alongside a free August update with a new ability upgrade, additional usability options, and more checkpoints for some of the campaign's more taxing missions.
