Street Fighter Producer Yoshinori Ono is Leaving Capcom

Written By

Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono has announced that he is departing Capcom this summer.

Ono has been at the company since the early nineties, and has worked as a producer on the Street Fighter series since 1998. In a post on Twitter, Ono wished players and their loved ones well and lamented that the he wouldn't be able to meet fans at a Capcom Pro Tour this year due to coronavirus, before announcing his departure.

"And now, after serving almost 30 years at Capcom, I am leaving the company in this summer. This means that I will resign my position as the brand manager for Capcom's various titles including Street Fighter," Ono said.

"Capcom staff in the new generation will continue taking care of the Street Fighter brand and leading the World Warriors. And, I do believe that they will continue making Street Fighter extraordinary. I will look forward to seeing the new Street Fighter brand and how it's going to be expanded, as just one of the regular gamers next time around."

Last week, a report suggested that Street Fighter 6 had been delayed due to a poor reaction to internal playtests.
