Xbox Series S Reference on Controller Packaging Looks to Confirm Lockhart Rumours

Written By

The rumours of Microsoft's less-powerful next-gen console are heating up, as the packing on a pre-release Xbox Series X controller makes reference to both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

As reported by The Verge, Twitter user @zakk_exe managed to get their hands on a pre-sale Xbox Series X controller in white via a resale site, with The Verge reporting that they have confirmed the product is genuine. This would be interesting by itself, but more importantly, the side of the box states that the controller is compatible with iOS, Android, Windows 10, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Despite being rumoured for a while now, this is the first time we've seen official confirmation on a Microsoft product - you can take a look for yourself in the images down below.

A lower-spec next-gen Xbox has been rumoured since early 2019 as "Lockhart", and a report from June 2020 stated that we should expect an August reveal for the console, now known to be name Xbox Series S. With only twenty-one days left in August, we should be hearing more from Microsoft soon.

Xbox Series X is due to release in Holiday 2020.
